|| Chapter 145 ||
Author's POV
Cheryl was far too cheeky for her own good today, she'd giggle at random, wind her daughter and wife up, say the most random things at the most inappropriate time.
"Mam quit it!" Madison huffs, walking away from her Mam and catching up with her Mum. "Mum," She sighs. "Can you tell her to stop?"
"No, no, no." Kimberley shakes her head, "That only gets her going, just ignore her – come on, let's pick out some furniture."
Cheryl giggles behind them, "Did you guys see this?" She shows them an inappropriate meme, howling in laughter.
"It's not funny." Madison suppresses a smirk, never seeing her Mam in this behavior.
"It's not funny." Cheryl mimics the teen, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and pulling her in. "What colors did you want to do?" She asks.
"I kinda want pinks and golds – but I'm not getting rid of the teal armchair in my room."
"Golds... Pinks... and Teal... Sounds like a unicorn threw up in there—"
"You always have something negative to say about every idea I've had—"
"Because your room is perfect I don't see why you feel the need to change it?"
Madison squirms away from her Mother's hold, deciding to ignore her.
"Can youse keep the bickering for the house?" Kimberley raises an eyebrow at the both of them, letting her daughter now lead the way around the shop as she speaks to her wife, "Stop teasing her, she looks like she's ready to burst into tears."
"No, she's not."
"You don't think she's extra sensitive right now? I know I tease her about it all the time, but I'm still considerate of her feelings."
Cheryl gasps, "I'm always considerate of her feelings."
Kimberley gives her a look, "You know she's jealous of your and the relationship you have with those girls, yet you still tease her about it."
"It's a joke." Cheryl huffs, rolling her eyes.
"You sometimes act like such a child."
"I can't even tease me own daughter?"
"You're not doing it the right way." Kimberley rolls her eyes, "Just so you know if you make her cry I'll cut you."
"Good to know I'm number one in your life—"
"You were number one, now you'll probably fall to three when we have our next child."
Cheryl wasn't sure why, but she smiled, her heart fluttering like a million butterflies finally set free from their cage.
"Guess we'll find out soon." They share a smile and a quick kiss.
Finally, Cheryl allows her daughter to pick what she wanted, she could see how happy Madison was throughout the day, she didn't want to tarnish that. They eventually retire at a restaurant, resting their feet from running around all day.
"It's going to look so cute!" The Teen squeals.
Kimberley smiles, "I'll be sure to hire someone to come paint your room." They share a smile.
Cheryl pouts, "But I thought you loved the grey?"
"I do, but it's not going to match with the theme I'm going with."
Cheryl decides against being insensitive and simply smiles at her daughter, "Whatever you want babe."
"What did youse want to eat?" Kimberley asks, already scanning the menu for the three of them.
"Doesn't matter." Madison shrugs, "So, Mam, are you going to be home tomorrow then?"
"No, sweets." Cheryl pouts, "I'll be with the girls first thing in the morning."
"You'll most likely have to go to work with me tomorrow." Kimberley casually says.
"I don't want to though." Madison whines, "Why can't I just stay home?"
"You're not staying home alone." Kimberley says end of.
"But I always used to stay home alone when I lived with—"
"Well you live with us now." Kimberley cuts off her daughter, sick of hearing about Clara and Connor.
Madison frowns, pouting. She focuses on the menu, not wanting to cry.
Chery clears her throat, changing the subject. "Me Mam wants to come down this weekend."
"Ah, that'll be lovely." Kimberley smiles, "It'll be a nice break for her from the younger grandkids."
"That's what I was telling her," Cheryl nods. "They're doing her head in." The married couple share a sweet giggle. "Aren't you happy to hear that, Sweets?"
Madison shrugs, never taking her eyes off the menu.
"Don't be in a mood just because you can't stay home alone." Cheryl adds, rolling her eyes at her daughter's sudden shift in behavior.
Madison remains quiet, ignoring her Mam. When Cheryl and Madison bickered it always reminded the Teen of the early days, when all they would do was argue and fight. At times, she felt as if nothing has changed, but it was natural to argue, she'd thought.
The waiter finally comes and takes their orders, taking his time with her pop-star Mother, which always seemed to annoy her beyond belief.
Madison sighs, looking out of the window, glad to see the rain hadn't made its way over to her city.
Kimberley reaches across and takes her daughters hands into her own, getting the Teen's attention. "Don't let it ruin your day."
"Hm?"
"We've had a lovely day, don't let it ruin your day."
"My day isn't ruined." The Teen shrugs, "She's just annoying." Madison whispers, glad her Mam was still occupied by the waiter.
"I know." The Mother and Daughter share a giggle.
"What're youse laughing at?" Cheryl says, just as the waiter walks away.
Kimberley releases her daughter's hands and sits back in her seat, wrapping an arm around the frowning Geordie. "Nothing."
"Youse are making fun of us, aren't you?"
"No."
Cheryl huffs.
Madison changes the subject, "What if I go to a friend's house tomorrow?"
"You don't have any friends." Cheryl adds.
"Yes, I do."
"No, you don't."
"I do too!"
"No, you don't." Cheryl winds the teen up.
"Will you two stop." Kimberley raises her tone, "What's gotten into you two today?"
"It's her!" Cheryl and Madison say at the same time, pointing their fingers at each other.
"Youse are hashing it out right now."
Both Cheryl and Madison slump back into their seats like children, arms folded across their chests with a moody pout to their lips.
"I can't stand her today." Madison says.
"You can't stand us?!" Cheryl gasps, sitting back up. "You're the rude little sh*t today."
"Lower your bloody voices." Kimberley hisses, noticing a few stares coming their way.
"I did fcuk all!"
Cheryl rolls her eyes, biting her tongue.
They eat their meal in silence, the sound of their cutlery clinking against the glassware was making Kimberley squirm in her seat. She hated when her family was like this, she wanted them to always be happy, laughing and smiling.
Kimberley sighs, setting her fork and knife down. "I won't have you two not talking the entire time. We are meant to be enjoying today," She sighs, getting annoyed with them at this point. "Apologize to each other."
Madison hovers the burger to her mouth, shifting her eyes back and forth.
Cheryl too, remaining quiet.
"Youse two are like bloody kids."
"I am a—"
Kimberley cuts her daughter off, "Better yet, just shut up. The both of you." She huffs, resuming to eat her meal.
Cheryl and Madison shrug, unfazed.
Silence.
It was growing in aggravation for Kimberley, but she decides against speaking up. She's had it with her daughter and wife.
They spend the rest of the meal in silence, no interruptions apart from the waiter coming every so often to see how they were doing. Not wasting a second, the Tweedy-Walsh family pay the bill and begin their journey home, still, in complete silence.
Kimberley doesn't bother opening her wife and daughter's car door as they arrived home, she's had enough.
"I'm not even that mad, I don't know why she's making it into such a big deal." Madison whispers to her Mam, both shrugging at each other. "You say sorry first." She speaks in a low hush, walking slowly up the grand entrance of their home.
"No, you—"
"You—"
"No—"
"You're the one that's bloody married to her."
Cheryl goes to open her mouth, then thinks about what her daughter has said. "Alright fine."
Madison smiles, forgetting their little bickering they had at the restaurant.
"Don't talk because I know you'll just ruin everything with your big mouth."
Madison opens her mouth, then closes it. "Fine."
"Babe." Cheryl walks ahead of her daughter, following her wife into the kitchen. "Baby." She coos, speaking in a baby voice.
Kimberley doesn't reply, making herself a cup of coffee.
"Babyyy." Cheryl whines, going up behind her wife and wrapping her arms tightly around Kimberley's slim waist.
Kimberley huffs, "What?" Rolling her eyes, completely unimpressed.
"You mad at us?" Cheryl pouts, nuzzling her face into her wife's back.
"It's not funny, Cheryl."
"But, I'm not laughing."
Kimberley turns around, instantly getting Cheryl to cling to her.
"I sorry." She pouts, pleading for a kiss.
Kimberley rolls her eyes, obliges nonetheless.
Cheryl hums, smiling as she nuzzles back into her wife's arms.
Madison clears her throat, looking at her Mam.
Cheryl sticks her tongue out, letting Madison know she was on her own for this one.
Kimberley looks at her daughter waiting for an apology. "Something you wanted to say?"
Madison shakes her head and walks out of the kitchen, annoyed.
"She was supposed to apologize." Cheryl unravels their cuddle.
Kimberley rolls her eyes, "She's literally a copy and paste of you."
"How so?" Cheryl smiles, following her wife out to the front room, settling down into the sofa whilst Kimberley sips her coffee.
"Are you forgetting that time you almost died because I wanted an apology?"
"Did not!"
"Ah, do I have to remind you?"
"You don't, because it's not true."
Kimberley smirks, retelling what happened between the couple.
~~~~
"You're honestly so fcuking rude, I don't want to speak to you anymore." Kimberley grits, pushing Cheryl away and heading back into the baking room.
"You seriously mad at us? I can't believe you'd get mad over something so silly."
"You're so insensitive to my feelings!" Kimberley rolls her eyes, annoyed with her pop-star friend.
"It's a silly thing to be upset about," Cheryl chuckles, "You're so childish."
"This is why you and I can't be friends."
Cheryl scoffs, laughing. "You're lucky to even be me friend." She whips her hair to one side.
"I honestly don't care to be friends with someone who doesn't care to apologize." Kimberley laughs, "Can you leave my bakery now? I don't want negative energy here."
Cheryl laughs, "Apologize for what?"
"Exactly what I mean, please leave."
Cheryl rolls her eyes, "Gladly."
~~~~
Cheryl pouts as her wife ends the memory, "I was such a b*tch," She shuffles closer, "I sorry." She wraps her arms around her wife as she sits herself atop of Kimberley's lap.
"You were so rude, I'm so glad you're human now."
"I was always human.. Just, a little more... Boujee." They share a laugh. "Just like Madison then." Cheryl giggles, "I don't even know why her and I but heads so much. We'd be fine one second and then next we're going down each other's throats ready to kill each other."
"You two have always been like this though. Even in the early X-Factor days, you couldn't stand the sight of each other."
Cheryl smiles at the memory, "It was the type of love I had for her. I wanted to strangle her... But I also wanted to help her." She shrugs, "Her attitude and behavior reminded us of meself a lot."
Kimberley smiles as her wife rambles away.
"Sometimes I still want to strangle her, like earlier." Cheryl laughs, "Oh-Oh don't get us going."
Kimberley giggles, finishing the last of her cup of coffee and blindly setting it down on the end table. "You're adorable, you know?"
"I know, but can you listen to us?"
Kimberley bites her lower lip, wanting to smother her wife in kisses from how adorable she is. "Sorry."
"So, yeah. I just have these sudden... I don't know how to explain it, like, you know when you just want to punch someone randomly in the face—"
"Don't say that!" Kimberley laughs.
"No I don't want to physically hit our daughter, I'm just saying, sometimes I want to whoop her arse."
"I can hear you!" Madison pops her head around the front room entrance, "Don't worry, I feel the same." She walks in, sitting herself across from both her parents.
She clears her throat, "Erm..." She begins, "My friend's having a birthday party, is it alright if I go?"
"A friend?" Cheryl raises her eyebrow.
"Yeah, remember Travis?"
"Bloody awful kids."
"He's nice." Madison argues, "I told him I'd come."
"Without asking us?" Cheryl pushes, Kimberley remaining quiet, scrolling through her iPhone, not wanting to talk to her daughter until she gets an apology.
"I didn't find it a big deal... Mum and Dad would always let me go."
Cheryl rolls her eyes, slipping off her wife's lap. "I'm not your Mum nor your Dad, stop constantly comparing us to them."
"I'm just saying – it's just a party. I don't see the big deal—"
"The big deal is that your friends, who you haven't seen in like a minute, are older than you."
"I've been in touch with Brian, he's the one that told me to go. He also told me Travis would like it if I came."
Cheryl rolls her eyes, "You're not going—"
"You literally just want me locked up in this bloody mansion with no friends, nothing. How am I meant to make friends when I'm stuck with you both all the fcuking time!"
"Oh don't make it sound like such a bloody chore."
Madison huffs, standing to her feet. "Whatever, I'm going."
"No, you're not." Cheryl quickly follows her daughter.
"Yes I am!"
Cheryl grasps her daughter's hand, forcing her to stop, "If you go to that party I will not speak to you."
"God forbid." Madison rolls her eyes, yanking her arm back. "I'm going." She says, end of, and heads up the grand stairs to her bedroom.
