|| Chapter 131 ||
Author's POV
It was a holiday to remember, Madison mentally thinks, taking in the scene of her family sat on the beach late that night. The bonfire was going, they had dancers and artists playing their instruments for their entertainment. Dinner was served right before them on a long wooden table, placed perfectly atop of the sand.
She smiles, taking in the sight of their entertainment for the night.
They had men blowing fire from their mouths, dancers flipping and twisting, a man playing his tunes along with the rest of his bandmates. She doesn't remember a time when her holidays were spent like this. All she could recall was a lot of glares from Clara for acting out, and her father putting his hands up and not sticking up for her.
She wondered what Jamie was doing.
She missed him in this moment and wished he were here, enjoying his time with them. She also believed she was undeserving of her father's time, not after going behind his back and sleeping with his girlfriend.
Rita.
I wonder what she's doing. The thoughts were running through her mind and she had no end to stop them.
She jumps to the sound of her Mam's voice invading her mind.
"Are you okay?" The Geordie looks close at her daughter.
"Yeah... Why wouldn't I be?" Madison giggles, awkwardly placing a piece of hair behind her ear and focusing back to the entertainment.
Cheryl decides to drop it, wanting her daughter to enjoy her time. She settles back into the cushioned seats, wrapping an arm around the Teen and pulling her slightly in. Her brown eyes wander off to her wife, Kimberley, who was sat in the sand with her nephew placed in front of her.
She wanted their family to grow.
She just hoped Madison wouldn't be upset with it all, it was a gentle talk that needed to be done and it needed to be done when they returned home. This night was the last of their holiday, everyone enjoyed their week in the Caribbean, the sun beating down on them, leaving a sun kissed glow for all of England to envy.
Soon enough, the morning had come and the Tweedy-Walsh family was on their way to the airport, all wearing soft smiles and a longing wish to return to this piece of paradise.
"Maddy, will you sit next to us?" Cheryl asks, taking a seat beside her daughter in the waiting lounge as they wait for their airplane to board.
"Don't you want to sit by Mum?" She asks, confused. "Are you two fighting again?" She rolls her eyes, earning a giggling from the Geordie.
"No I just want to sit by you." Cheryl pouts, "You know." She smiles, "Every time we're in the airport I remember you and the first time we boarded a plane together—"
"You don't want to yell at me then?" The teen cheekily asks, a grin to her sun kissed face.
"Probably will in a few minutes if you keep up with that cheekiness." The mother gives her a playful light slap to her cheek, earning a giggle from her happy daughter. "Come on, that's our flight." Cheryl stands up and assists her daughter to walk beside her, both smiling from ear-to-ear as they board the full airplane. "Here we are." She guides the teen to sit on the window seat as she puts their belongings in the dash above.
Finally taking her seat in time.
"Ah." Cheryl sighs, a content smile to her lips. "That was a nice trip, no?"
"Definitely." Madison looks at her Mother with the same expressive smile, "Are you going to tell me what you want to say now that we're on the plane—"
"What're you on about—"
Madison rolls her eyes, "I can just tell you're itching to say something."
"Am not—"
"You are too."
Cheryl huffs, "I did want to sit next to you." She pouts.
"Did or didn't?" Madison giggles, shaking her head and returning her vision back to the window. Seeing that the plane had yet to get a move on.
"Why do you always ruin moments before I ever bloody open me mouth?" Cheryl huffs. Their similar traits were colliding, they knew the content bubble had to burst eventually, reminding the Geordie of their first flight together back in the X-Factor days.
"I'm not... I could just tell you want to say something." The teen shrugs, eyes remaining on the outside world.
"I'll just save it for when we get home."
"That's eight hours." Madison huffs, "Just spit it out will ya?"
"Good evening passengers," The flight attended takes all the attention, "If you could..." Madison zones her out, her attitude was about to boil over and she was in no mood to tarnish their beautiful holiday. She takes a few deep breaths, doing as the flight attended is requesting.
The airplane began to slowly move; she closes her eyes counting to ten repeatedly until they were up in the air.
Cheryl clears her throat in time, hoping her daughter had calmed down. "Do you want to talk about what's going on?"
"There's nothing going on." She rolls her eyes.
"Madison."
"Cheryl."
The Geordie gasps, giving her daughter a nudge to the arm. "Don't call us that."
This gets a grin to form to Madison's lips, "Why is that?"
"Because."
The teen rolls her eyes, shuffling away in her seat.
"Why are you being off with us?" The mother asks.
"Why don't you just tell me what you want to say instead of holding it off until the last minute?"
"What're you on about?"
"Are you waiting to get pregnant before you tell me that youse are planning to start a family or after you give birth?" Madison spits it out, a gob smacked Cheryl remains silent with her mouth hanging opened.
"Where'd you hear that!?" Cheryl snaps back to reality.
Madison scoffs, folding her arms and keeping her distance from the Geordie.
"Madison." Cheryl whispers, reaching over in hopes to give some sort of comfort to her daughter.
"Don't touch me or I'll scream so loud they'll think it's abuse."
"Madison!" Cheryl gasps.
"Don't touch me." The teen grasps a hold of her Mam's hand and smacks it away.
Cheryl sighs softly, settling into her seat.
They remain silent for an hour, no words exchanged, tension projecting off the both.
Cheryl's eyes shift over to her wife, who has been giggling and laughing all throughout the flight. She narrows her eyes, noticing the brunette sat beside her, she too giggling along with her wife.
Madison notices this, biting her lower lip and turning away from her mother's line of vision.
Kimberley's laughter seems to be the only thing Cheryl could hear at this point, not being able to sit much longer she stands and walks over to her wife.
"Babe she's mad at us." She pouts, not giving the smiling stranger an ounce of her attention.
Kimberley chuckles, "She'll be fine. This is Stephanie," She introduces the green-eyed beauty sat beside her, "This is my wife, Cheryl."
"Hi Cheryl, nice to meet you." Stephanie puts her hand out and gets a flimsy shake from Cheryl and a few inaudible words mumbled under her breath.
"Babeee can you please go talk to her?" Cheryl pouts, "Pease?"
Kimberley chuckles finding her wife too adorable in this moment, "Well alright, sit here and I'll go over to her."
"Why can't we go together?" Cheryl's taken by surprise.
"Well because there's only two seats over there and it didn't seem to work with you so let me have a try." Kimberley raises her eyebrow, standing to her feet and walking away before her wife had a chance to argue any further.
Cheryl huffs, sitting in her wife's seat and keeping her focus on Madison who was still in a mood as her Mum tried to speak to her.
"What's got you so upset?" Kimberley tries again, leaning over to her daughter who had her back turned to the blonde. "Hm?" She gives her a poke. "Aren't you excited to have a little brother or sister?"
Madison shrugs but never turns around to look at her Mum.
"Turn around so I can speak to you properly." Kimberley gives her another poke but gets no response in return. "Madison."
"I don't want to talk about this anymore." Madison says end of.
"And since when do you make the rules around here?" They speak in low hisses.
"Since forever. Now go away." The Teen shoos Kimberley away.
The Mother narrows her eyes, having enough of her daughters attitude she grasps the teen by the shoulders and forces her to turn around.
"Don't touch me." Madison grits, pushing her mother away.
"You can fight me all you like when we get home but right now you're going to listen."
"I don't care to listen."
"Well I care, so you're going to listen." The Mother narrows her blue eyes at her daughters' greens, instantly getting Madison to relax and listen. "Why can't you ever just hear us out before blowing a fuse at us? You always do that." She sighs before continuing, "If you think us wanting to start a family means we don't love you anymore then you're wrong and you get that thought out of your head." Kimberley speaks softer now, "We couldn't love you any more."
Madison shrugs, shifting her eyes, a pout unknowingly forming.
"C'mere." Kimberley pats her lap.
The Teen shakes her head.
"Come on." Kimberley pulls her daughter over to her lap, knowing Madison wanted nothing more.
The Teen settles against her Mother's chest, taking in a deep breath as she plays with the diamond heart shaped necklace around her neck. It never did come off ever since Cheryl had lovingly given it to her.
"A family is beautiful gift," Kimberley speaks from a very sensitive place in her heart, "Growing and having the luxury of being able to build a family is a blessing, Maddo." The Teen takes in a deep breath, inhaling her mother's scent. "Your Mam and I wanting to build a family means we want you to be a part of it all, you're going to be an older sister one day and we'll definitely need your love and support."
Kimberley smiles feeling her daughter nod against her chest.
"So," The Mother pulls her daughter up so they can lock eyes once more, "Are you going to help us?"
Madison smiles with tears in her eyes, "Yes."
