||Chapter 10||
-Author's POV-
With each step closer to the judges her heart rages with beats. The external smile she was projecting was filled with doubtful thoughts, swarming and circling her mind. She knew that this was the end of her journey. Tugging on her crop top with nerves, she intakes a deep breath to settle her frantic heart.
"Hello," Olly greets the teen; she gives him a smile in return.
"This is Madison" Cheryl introduces her; she gives her mentor a smile. The sun blares down and gives her a warm glow. It's a harsh light, but she ignores it, giving all her attention to this performance she'd be enacting.
"Whenever you're ready" The Geordie beauty looks straight at the teen, hiding her soft brown eyes behind the large sunglasses.
Relax
She naturally unseals her lips, releasing the beautiful sound with the melodies in tune. The fear that once concealed her heart had finally spurt and fluttered with the words being sounded so elegantly with the breeze. Like the air she breathed, the sun that beamed, and the tides that crashed - it was effortless.
Cheryl's eyes never leave Madison's expression; the teen filled each soul with emotion when she sang. Bursting the Geordies world into nothingness but the beautiful tune of her sound. Goosebumps erupt Cheryl's skin, tears prickle her waterline, and they go unnoticed as she shields her brown orbs behind the designer shades.
The final melody is released into the still air.
"Thank you" Cheryl thanks the teen, without another word, Madison retreats back inside. The waiting game begins.
-
"What do you think?" Cheryl asks Olly.
"Honestly?" She nods
"I think she's the best one out of the lot, what do you think?" She didn't want to admit it, at least not out loud.
"She's alright," Cheryl shrugs "What about the other girls? Do you have in mind who you'd want to send home?" He nods.
"I'm not so sure about that Jessica girl, although she does have the rocker chick look to her, it'll be different and good for this competition-"
"I was thinking of putting her through." She argues, although she'd eavesdropped on the constantans earlier row, she felt Jessica had potential for this crazy competition.
"How about we take a little break and think this over privately? We'll come back in an hour or so?"
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.. I'll be up in me room if you need us. This is going to be a tough one." Simultaneously, they stand up and give each other a quick hug before going opposite ways.
-
Madison sits in the front room, lost in time and moment. She's half aware of her surroundings as she zones out. The odd whisper and hush sounds, she can hear their words loud and clear as the girls talk about her.
"She'll probably get through from arse licking Kimberley." The girls giggle. She tries so desperately not to go in there and give them a piece of her mind, but she had absolutely no energy to start another problem. So she stays still and takes in every word from the b*tches that always seemed to be perky and sweet around Cheryl and Kimberley.
"Or she'll have her daddy pay for a record deal" She rolls her eyes. Lying further back into the couch, she relaxes and sighs. Green orbs flutter gracefully with exhaustion cursing through her, sleep was calling, and the need to escape this crazy world was growing with longing.
-
Kimberley sits on the window seat, watching her wife pace back and forth with her hands motioning along with inaudible words. She'd found Madison in the same action not too long ago, and she wonders if her mind was just f!cking with her, because the constant resemblance between the two was quite frankly freaking her out.
"I'm not going to ask you for help" Cheryl speaks up "I already know what you're going to say." Although she was still very upset with the blonde, she still needed to speak to her during this time of despair. She was stuck. She'll be cutting off two girls from pursuing their life long dreams.
"Okay." Kimberley shrugs and looks back out the window.
"I said no-" Cheryl catches herself; she'd thought Kimberley would reply with an argument.
"Okay?" She frowns.
"Mhm" Blue-greys never leave the outside world, her back slightly facing Cheryl's line of vision.
"I know what you're doing" Cheryl laughs dryly, "You're trying to guilt trip us to keeping her in this damn competition! It's not going to work!" The Geordie speaks firmly.
Kimberley shrugs again.
"Stop that!"
Kimberley shrugs once again.
"Swear to god! You always do this, you're playing the guilt trip game right now."
"I told you how I felt, and it's up to you." She whispers, the blonde tries her best to suppress the smirk fighting to stretch out into a grin. She knew her ways with Cheryl, and although both women were very much dominating in this relationship, Kimberley always had the upper hand in everything.
"She was good you know," The blonde continues "I heard her sing, she's got a lovely voice." Cheryl forces herself not to scream out in frustration, because deep down she agreed to every word her wife was uttering.
"I can see her growing into something really beautiful, if you give her the right time and patience.."
"I said stop doing that! She's not going through, I've already made up me mind last night. I told you, and that's that."
Kimberley shrugs again. This time Cheryl cant hold her position any longer, she charges herself to the blonde and forces their eyes to meet. Before Cheryl was able to grasp her wife's chin, Kimberley was quick to grab her hand and sit her down on the windowsill alongside her.
"Listen to me." Kimberley hisses, her eyes growing with rage. "Enough of this foolish, idiotic attitude you've picked up since you've met that damn girl! Why are you so against her being put through? She's just a child. If you knew her well enough-"
"What and you do?!" Cheryl fights the tight grasp, but its no use; Kimberley has her fingers wrapped tightly around her wrists.
"I know more than you-"
"She probably f!cking played some act on you - let go of me hands!"
"No. Listen to me," She shakes her "You have to let her through.. Please." Cheryl's expression softens to her wife's whispered plead.
"Why do you want her to stay so bad?"
"Because-Because someone once told me to always follow my gut feeling.. And right now my gut feeling is telling me she needs to stay."
-
The unknowing was killing Madison. They were each sent to their rooms, giving each knowing contestant to cry or celebrate privately, when all was revealed, they would return to find out who'd gone through and who had sadly been sent home.
Madison's turn had yet to come, but she knew, deep down she wasn't going through. She'd already accepted it; the gloomy cloud was hovering the emotions, and casting sadness over her.
"Madison?" Charlotte opens the door, and gives the teen a sympathetic smile.
"It's your turn." Madison nods and smiles weakly, her frantic heart was back on show as she followed the kind woman through the corridor.
"I just want to apologize for my behavior." She speaks up, they walk in a timid pace.
"It's fine, don't apologize." Charlotte gives her a smile.
"I appreciate all the work you've done for us since being here." The teen felt the need to thank the sweet woman; because she knew her behavior was intolerable.
"Thank you, don't be too nervous.. Go on. She's out in the back garden." Madison nods, and licks the corners of her lips as her nerves start to get the better of her. In taking a deep breath she masks her worries with confidence. The cameramen stand far enough to give them room to absorb the emotions they would be showing.
"Hi" Madison clears her throat and walks over to Cheryl sat on the large patio seat.
"Hello, have a seat." She nods and sits a distance away from Cheryl. The teen is unable to meet Cheryl's eyes, especially with the way the Geordies hair was scarped back into a ponytail, giving the brown orbs the power to pour deep within her soul.
"Where do I start-"
"Usually people start from the beginning, but I tend to skip and read the last chapter." this gets Cheryl laughing; she wasn't expecting that type of response. Cheeky.
"Maybe we can just skip to the end?" The teen rambles quickly.
"I read the whole book, so I'll start from the beginning" Madison nods and looks away once again.
"I can see it in your eyes you know." Cheryl states, the teen silently hoped she wasn't going to say something personal about her, especially when the cameras were rolling.
"See what?" She never meets the brown eyes.
"How much you want this," Cheryl gets Madison to relax with those words. "But, I also don't know how much you want this to drop the attitude-"
"What attitude?" Madison scoffs "I don't have an attitude-"
"Only someone-"
"With an attitude would say something like that" Madison defiantly finishes the Geordies sentence.
"I don't have an attitude, this is just how I am-"
"I beg to differ-"
"What are you getting out of this?" Madison rolls her eyes; she notices cameramen and crewmembers giving them both a questioning look. Almost asking if they should stop recording.
"You know I have me mind made, but you're getting us to change it with your attitude"
"Oh no" Madison says sarcastically.
"Stop the cameras!" Cheryl snaps; it gets Madison's heart to skip a beat with the harsh tone.
"Please everyone, give us some privacy." With those commanding words, the two of them are left alone instantly.
Madison licks the corners of her lips with uneasiness as they're left alone.
"Are you taking the piss?!" Cheryl half-growls.
"No.." The teen shifts her eyes wildly. She was lying.
"If it wasn't for me wife-" Cheryl stops herself from finishing that sentence. Madison didn't have to guess what the Geordie was going to say next.
"Don't put me through then." Cheryl raises her eyebrow, she's taken back once again by the boldness the teen displayed.
"I'm putting you through because I believe you have some potential-"
"You and I both know that's a load of bull crap-"
"Don't tell us what I know!" They bicker back and forth, never noticing Kimberley approaching the scene.
"You're pitying me with what I told your wife last night!"
"What'd you tell me wife last night?!"
Kimberley quickly steps in.
"Alright, that is enough!" The blonde sits herself between the two furious women, and for the first time, Madison can't look anywhere else but the piercing brown orbs. They mirror each other's angered expression.
"What has gotten into you two? Do you realize everyone is listening in on your f!cking conversation!" The blonde hisses in a low tone. Madison's scowl relaxes; she sits back into the cushioned seat and shuffles around uncomfortably.
"She's the one that's got her f!cking replies under her damn armpits!"
"Erm.. I'm sure I have nothing under my armpits.." Madison smirks.
"See!"
"Okay, baby, relax.. Madison," Kimberley looks at the smirking teen.
"Yeah?"
"Please, just put up with my wife for a bit-"
"What do you mean put up with me wife?!" Cheryl gives a laughing Kimberley a smack to the forearm, they're suddenly lost in time, and soon enough Madison is laughing along with the crazy married couple.
Kimberley stands to her feet, and gives her pouting wife a kiss. It's hard for Madison to look at such affection, because although her parents were madly in love, this type of love was too intense for her - too affectionate.
"I'll be inside, try not to kill each other" Cheryl smiles and watches her wife walkaway.
"Last chapter?" Madison brings the happy Geordie out of her daze.
"Is this how it's going to work out then?" She asks the teen.
"What do you mean?" Madison knew what the Geordie beauty was talking about, loud and clear.
"If-" Cheryl stops midsentence as she sees the camera crew returning.
"We'll talk later-"
"Does that mean?" Madison beams with excitement.
"You're in me final four!" It all happened so fast, and before the teen could process what she was doing, and why she was doing it. She was in the arms of Cheryl, hugging each other tightly. For a short while, they couldn't let go, locked into place - glued together. Like a force was pulling them together, a spark of electricity went off deep within them.
"You're in me final four" Cheryl whispers to the teen still held firmly against her.
