Funeral

-Thursday-

Satsuki searched overnight for Naomi at the location of the laboratory which has fallen debris, scattered around the area. "Naomi-san?! Where are you?!" Satsuki's voice turned hoarse from screaming all night long. She tiredly checked the rocks and pieces of wood to see if Naomi was crushed. Not only the infrastructure was crushed to pieces, but the materials inside the laboratory also blasted. So unknown chemicals were splashed as well, organs and corpses were infecting the air and was causing bacteria to spread, blood had been smudged in almost every single thing on the field. This scared Satsuki. She might turn suicidal knowing that it was her fault that Seiko and Naomi got separated, thus making the couple suffer even more. "This is my fault...I've fallen under Misuto's trap...I became a puppet...no...a dumber one..." Satsuki muttered to herself and slowly driving to insanity.

"Haha...looks like Misuto destroyed us all...I almost killed Naomi-san and Seiko-san...I almost killed Yuka's dearest friends...I almost got their daughter killed...I'm a monster..." Satsuki got a piece of the broken glass and laggardly moved it to her stomach. "This place doesn't suit me...I've searched everywhere...but why?! Why does this world despise me?!" The young girl's tears flowed on her cheeks and the pointed edge of the glass touched the sensitive skin of Satsuki, while blood started to flow out of the ripped skin. "S-Satsuki d-don't do i-it..." A voice can be heard near the big boulder of rock which was 3 yards away from her location. "H-huh?" The girl thought she was hallucinating. She thought that some kind of angel from heaven is trying to save her from doing such a sin that she could end up in Hell. "Whoever you are...I've chosen this path...if it's the harshest judgement I shall receive...I'll accept it." Satsuki showed a frown that is a sign of regret and loneliness.

"No...Satsuki...h-help me...it's me...N-Naomi..." Naomi was crawling on the floor with blood still dripping on her shirt and from her stomach. Satsuki dropped the sharp glass and caught Naomi as she was about to fall. The younger girl carried the older one, since Naomi was gasping for oxygen and her eyes were as dull as the moonlight in an eclipse. "Hang on, Naomi-san! We'll get you to the nearest hospital as soon as we can!" Satsuki wiped her tears and ran back to the car, where Yuka, Seiko and Namari were waiting. "S-Satsuki...if I-I'm not able to make it...p-please...h-help Seiko raise Namari...you too Yuka...h-help Seiko...f-for my sake..." As soon as Naomi finished muttering her sentence, her eyes closed while a tear escaped from her right eye. "DO NOT LEAVE US! PLEASE...DON'T LOSE HOPE!" Satsuki shook Naomi's body, but no response came from the injured girl. "DON'T WORRY SATSUKI! I WILL DRIVE AS FAST AS I COULD WHILE YOU TEND TO NAOMI'S INJURY!" Yuka closed the door and turned on the engine, then drove as fast as she could.

"Dammit...her wound is deep...the katana was as sharp as a razor blade..." Satsuki unbuttoned Naomi's shirt and applied some povidone-iodine on her wound so it won't be infected by bacteria and other microorganisms that could trigger Naomi. As she bandaged the wound, she saw Seiko stare at her reflection on the mirror. [ My left eye used to be here...my left hand used to be here...I guess I should have taken precautions before putting myself in danger... ] The injured girl closed her pocket mirror and saw Satsuki looking at her with reddish eyes. "Huh? What's wrong Satsuki?" Seiko went towards the younger girl and patted her head using her right hand. "Y-your left eye...and left hand...both of them...they're gone...because of me..." Seiko froze in shock and just stared blankly at the floor. "S-Seiko-san? I-is there something wrong?" Satsuki barely moved from her position and just gazed at Seiko's daze.

It wasn't that long before Seiko regained her senses. "O-oh...don't worry! It wasn't your fault! It was my fault for being careless, knowing it was hazardous to jump into the enemy's territory..." Seiko looked at Naomi and showed a fake smile. "I know she'll wake up in no time...because she has to...she has to live for me and Namari...she can comprehend it as well..." Seiko picked up a blueprint showing a robotic hand figure. "I can make a robotic hand for myself...and I could go to the hospital to ask for an eye, from an eye donor of course..." She rolled the paper and placed it back on the small cup holder of the car, before embracing Namari. Then suddenly Yuka stepped on the brake pad. "We forgot about Sachiko-san!" Satsuki took a deep breath and held back her tears. "I saw her cadaver when I carried Naomi-san. It looked like Sachiko-san shielded Naomi-san from the big boulder." Yuka's sweat dropped from her chin and didn't say anything no more, as she resumed driving.

Satsuki held Naomi's hand and checked her pulse. Unfortunately, Naomi was slowly dying because of blood loss. "Yuka hurry up! Naomi-san needs to be in the hospital as quickly as possible!" Yuka stepped on the pedal as hard as she could and the car accelerated to maximum speed. It started to rain and he mountain was starting to become steep. So they had to slow down a little to prevent car accidents. [ Damn it! Naomi-san is dying! Even if it costs my life, I'll save her! ] Yuka went back to maximum speed and told everyone that there was a clinic nearby in the woods. "Are you sure about this Yuka?" Seiko gripped on the seat and placed Namari in a safe seat so she won't fall or crash. Yuka just nodded, however the car was running out of gasoline and it had a flat tire. "Screw it!" Yuka hissed. The car was slowing down, but the land the car was running on was slippery so its speed was stable. Satsuki held on Naomi's body and made sure it wouldn't have further complications. They arrived shortly, but the rain was pouring heavily so it was a bit hard for them to see the small clinic.

"Doc! Our friend is injured badly!" Satsuki handed Naomi's body to the doctor and the doctor hastily examined the wound. "The operation is going to be complex. I can't guarantee if your friend will survive the operation though..." Seiko gritted her teeth and glared at the doctor. "Do whatever it takes to help her...I beg of you..." The fiancé of the patient tried to hide her anger and nervousness. However, she might release it sooner or later. "I'll try my very best." The doctor responded before he brought Naomi to the small operation room. Seiko sat while her feet were stomping the floor, and it seemed like it was moving on its own. Namari was also restless while staring at her dad. Then Seiko felt Namari tugging her shirt and gazed at her daughter. "You're feeling insecured too huh?" Seiko hugged Namari closer to her and prayed for Naomi's successful operation.

-after an hour-

"What? You're kidding me right?! You're not serious...right?!" Seiko grabbed the collar of the doctor's lab coat and pushed him against the wall. "I-I'm sorry...but we can't save her...she suffered too much blood that even blood transfusion is impossible...her organs shutdown already...I take responsibility for her death-?!" "No...I'll take the responsibility..." Satsuki interfered. "I'll donate my blood...even if it means taking all of it away..." The doctor's assistant brought out a blood transfusion tool and attached the wire to Naomi and Satsuki's arm. "If she doesn't wake up in the morning and I lost all my blood...don't mourn for my death..." Satsuki added as her blood was being transferred to Naomi. "We'll wait until morning. If this works, then you'll die." The doctor announced before leaving the room.

-Friday-

"I'm really sorry...but this isn't working...your fiancé is dead..." The doctor stood away from Seiko as he was removing the wires from both the patient's body. Seiko slammed both of her hands on the table and began to sob. "N-no..THIS IS INSUPERABLE!" Seiko took Naomi's cold and pale body then went outside, then the smaller girl ran and searched for another hospital or clinic, thinking that the doctor there was not experienced enough. "Please! Someone! Someone help Naomi! I'll do anything...please..." Seiko reached an old temple and began to pray for Naomi. But no matter how hard she prayed, Naomi wouldn't wake up from her slumber. She also noticed that Naomi's skin was peeling off and was releasing blood from her body which has already been hardened. [ Radiation?! ] Seiko held Naomi's body and her skin as well began ripping off. The girl continued crying and hugging her dead fiancé's body.

"Naomi...what did I do? Why? What went wrong?" Seiko began to mumble to herself. Then a flashback replayed in her mind. The time when she got mad at Naomi and the poor girl ran away just to save their daughter. "Oh yeah...it was back then huh? So it was my fault...how can I atone for such thing?! I've gotten the person whom I loved dearest, killed..." Seiko stopped praying and carried Naomi while running aimlessly, since she couldn't find another hospital or clinic anymore. "Even if I know you can't hear me...I know you can hear me somehow...even if I want to die...I know that you wouldn't let me die..." Seiko looked at Naomi's pale and emotionless face, then went back to the clinic. "Yuka...Satsuki...carry Namari and we'll go back to the city..." Yuka carried Namari and placed her inside the car, while Satsuki helped Seiko carry Naomi's corpse.

[ How can she continue loving a corpse? How come? I know this is hard to accept...but sometimes you have to let go...] Satsuki said in her mind while Seiko checked Naomi's wound. "Looks like the weapon really penetrated your stomach, Naomi..." The smaller girl was in her own absurd world, trying to escape the bitter reality where her fiancé is really dead. "S-Seiko-san...a-are you alright?" Seiko looked at Satsuki with narrowed eyes. "Of course I'm alright...right Naomi?" Seiko turned around and saw the blank expression on Naomi's face. Seiko felt like a widow. She felt like the whole universe was against her, and there's nothing in this world that could help her.

-Tokyo-

"We'll arrange the funeral session...don't worry...she'll be as beautiful as she was when she was still alive." Natsumi looked at her daughter's body and instead to crying with a frown, she cried with a huge smile on her face. "N-Naomi...this is your mother speaking...I know that you're in a better place now...b-but don't forget to take care of yourself okay? L-lastly...don't forget us...even if your mind forgets us...at least let your heart remember us..." Natsumi knelt down and held Naomi's hand and sobbed. Seiko stood near the corner, holding Namari and left the room. [ I'll bring you back to life Naomi...just wait...] Seiko opened the door to the basement and brought out blueprints. She placed Namari on the crib then began working on the project.

-Day of Naomi's funeral-

Seiko looked at the coffin and saw Naomi as beautiful as she can be. Thinking twice if she'll just let go or continue with the project, was taking too long and the car was about to go to the cemetery and place the coffin in the furnace. Seiko took the coffin and ran as fast as she could, ignoring the stares of random people around her. She unlocked the door and placed Naomi's corpse inside the massive machine. "Huh? Why isn't it working?!" Seiko took the keyboard and smashed it on the floor. "For 6 days...5 nights...why?!" It seemed like Naomi's death turned Seiko into a madman. The question was, "Can she bring her back to life?"

(A/N: Sorry for the short chapter guys. I can't think of other ideas, and I'm kinda multitasking since working on 3 books right now.)
