-3rd week before the wedding-

Sunday:

Seiko and the others finally arrived at their destination, and went out of the car to stretch and bring out their stuff to set the tents and place their baggages inside it. "We're going to start the research tomorrow. For now, we will have to wait and see what will happen if we stay here in the forest near the godforsaken laboratory." Sachiko said as she brought out the briefcases filled with materials that they're gonna use such as:

walky-talky
Geiger counter
hazmat suit
sling bag
small fire extinguisher
2 match boxes
.44 Magnum revolver w/ extra 100 bullets
Mossberg 590A1 w/ extra 100 bullets
dagger ( 2 pieces )

"Of course, you have to wear the hazmat suit before going inside the laboratory. The Geiger counter, fire extinguisher, the guns and the daggers, will be placed inside the sling bag. The match boxes and the walky-talky can either be inside the suit or outside, it's up to you." The doctor packed up the briefcases back inside the trunk of the car and helped Ayumi build the tents while Seiko checked the burnt building and looked for important documents outside the laboratory. "Ayumi, aren't you pregnant? Yoshiki might be looking for you-" "He's in Italy right now...he said that the NASCAR cup is something he has been preparing for years...he doesn't want to waste the training he had done..." Ayumi looked away as she patted her stomach. "It's dangerous..." Sachiko made Ayumi drink a tablet that will prevent the baby to absorb the radiation if the laboratory had it.

"Where's Seiko?" Ayumi asked while trying to recall her scouting lessons when she was in grade school since she forgot how to make a tent stand. "She's exploring the laboratory." Sachiko replied as she picked up the poles that were scattered in the ground. "Seiko...she's a good role model for a father." Ayumi giggled as Sachiko helped her set up the tents in the correct way. "As long as Naomi and Seiko have Namari, they can overcome any obstacle that will come in their way..." Sachiko knew that Namari is just a baby right now, but when she becomes a young lady she has a huge responsibility on her back. That is, To live her life to the fullest and to be not a burden to bear.

Seiko finally arrived at the senescent edifice, carrying only her backpack full of canned foods, instant cup ramen, water bottles, a cutting knife, and a small journal. "There's nothing much here outside..only scattered pieces of papers about a failed hypothesis...wait...Misuto is a failed experiment..." Seiko picked the papers up, and speak of the devil, it was all about Misuto. Beside the papers were bloody lab coats. "You guys...aren't still in peace huh? That Misuto did this all to you...right?" Seiko placidly prayed for the souls of the scientists who tried to successfully make a mutant, however they failed. The girl placed the papers in an envelope and hastily went back to the site. [ I can smell sukiyaki...it smells like Naomi's sukiyaki though...god I miss her and Namari already...] Sachiko stared at the envelope Seiko was holding and released the ladle and walked towards the taller girl.

"I found this outside the laboratory. It's all about Misuto's past." Seiko handed the brown envelope to Sachiko who seemed to be fascinated by the sight of the blood stained on the pieces of paper. "This is good!" Ayumi licked her lips while getting more soup from the hot pot. "Hey! Leave some for us too~!" Seiko shouted with glee. As they were eating, Sachiko went inside the tent and turned on the lamp then began reading the papers. Ayumi could hear Sachiko's whimpering slightly. [ She's probably thinking about Yuki...] Ayumi thought as she chewed on the succulent mushroom. Seiko was too oblivious to recognize the scenario as she was busy eating the dish. "You wanna watch the race don't you?" Seiko pulled out out her phone and watched the live show. "Woah! Yoshiki's leading!" Ayumi's tear escaped from her right eye when Yoshiki went out of his car and carried the trophy.

"Ayumi are you watching!? Is the baby watching as well!? Daddy won! This is for you guys!" Yoshiki exclaimed while the news anchor interviewed him. "Yoshiki...thank you..." Ayumi muttered under her breath. It wasn't that long before they had to go to sleep. Seiko and Ayumi stayed on one tent, while Sachiko has her own tent all to herself. The smaller girl turned on the flashlight and brought out her phone. [ I wonder how Naomi and Namari are doing? ] Ayumi noticed that Seiko was pretty bothered about the situation, so she just sat beside her and gave her friend a long hug. "Don't worry, you'll make it to the wedding. You and Naomi will have a happy life with your kid..." Seiko looked at Ayumi with teary eyes. "....there's no...there's nothing..." Seiko stopped talking, leaving Ayumi confused. "There's no signal and the wifi isn't working!!!" Seiko wanted to talk to Naomi that badly.

But the laboratory really had to be in a mountain, and what's worse is that the place is deserted which means if they run out of food, they will have to pick fruits from plants, which are capable of carrying a certain disease. "Well, we have to get some beauty sleep for tomorrow..." Ayumi secretly stole one of the briefcases, attempting to get inside the laboratory when Sachiko and Seiko are asleep. [ I'm sorry guys...but if this is the only way to see my sister... then I'll take peril... ] Ayumi waited until Seiko was snoring softly before going outside. She wore the hazmat suit and followed Sachiko's instructions then quietly went inside the laboratory. "Woah...this place somehow reminds me of the slaughter house...but this place is burnt and somewhat the electric circuits still work..." The light bulbs flickered across the dark rooms, the ceiling had perforations and somehow water was dripping, the papers were scattered everywhere, the gadgets were worn out and most of the chemicals are spilled from door to door.

Sachiko wiped her tears as she thought of Yuki's smile. "Y-Yuki...Yuki...please come back..." Knowing that this won't happen, Sachiko cried herself to sleep. As for Seiko, she was still sleeping having a pleasant dream of her touching Naomi's butt.

Monday:

Seiko woke up early and heated some water for the cup ramen. "Sachiko have you seen Ayumi?" Sachiko's eyes and nose were red due to crying last night. She didn't have enough sleep and is somewhat grumpy. "Huh? I don't know..." The smaller girl replied as she ate her cup of ramen. "Is that so? Well, we better look for her now." Seiko finished the ramen and drank the water from one of her 10 water bottles. She wore the hazmat suit and followed Sachiko's instructions and noticed that one of the briefcases were missing. "Sachiko! Ayumi is inside the laboratory!" Sachiko spit out the coffee and immediately dressed up. "Let's pack up! We have to go there as fast as we can!" Seiko did what Sachiko told her to do. They placed their stuff back to the car and went to the laboratory. Sachiko brought out the Geiger counter and measured the sievert unit. "30.00....that's a relief..." Seiko opened the front door to see footprints going to the 2nd floor.

"This must be Ayumi's footprints..." Seiko said pointing towards the spiral staircase. "I'll search here while you look for Ayumi." Sachiko didn't say anything else and began investigating through the drawers, cabinets and the half-burnt papers. Seiko went up to the 2nd floor and saw Ayumi sleeping on the hospital bed. "Ayumi wake up! We have to go!" Seiko shook Ayumi, and the taller girl slothfully rubbed her eyes and yawned. "Oh, Seiko? You found me..." "Why did you go off on your own?!" Seiko hissed. "I-I just wanted to see Hinoe..." Ayumi began crying and Seiko felt guilty. Of course she wanted to see her sister! Even if it's just Hinoe's ghost, she doesn't mind. "S-sorry Ayumi..." Seiko hugged her friend and rubbed her back. "I-it's okay...but we have to look for clues now so the radiation won't get worse."

As soon as Ayumi stood up from the bed, a huge stain of blood was visible on the bed sheet. "Do you have it?" "No! I don't...and last night, this wasn't here..." The blood was clearly aged and it has been there for years. So there's no way that Ayumi could have not seen that. However, she continued to affirm Seiko that she didn't really see it. "We can't conclude something that has no evidence. Let's talk about this later." After that, the two began walking around, collecting papers such as documents and records. They also took the cassettes and brought out the video player with them. All of the videos were related to child experiments. Children being tortured and experimented, some were somewhat lucky since after the torture, they die right away. But some surviving children were experimented by the mad scientists. Ayumi even took off her earphones since she can no longer bear the screams of the children, begging for the scientists to stop.

But Seiko wore the earphone until the end to see if there are some indications relating to Misuto. Unfortunately, she didn't find anything so they continued searching and scavenging. "Seiko, there is a 3rd floor here, do you want to check it out?" Ayumi cautiously removed the nails from the plank covering up the stairway to the 3rd floor. "Yeah, why not?" As they were going up the stairs, the wooden staircase seemed like it was going to collapse. "I can feel an eerie aura here..." Seiko was having goosebumps and her instincts were right. When they reached the upper floor, they saw skeletons of both children and adults, blood stains and decaying organs everywhere, skeletons of the heads, legs and arms of children looked like they have been separated from their bodies due to torture.

"This must be the torture chamber..." Ayumi muttered under her breath. "Looks like it..." Seiko replied since their walky-talkies are inside their suits. Seiko went to the east part of the floor, while Ayumi went to the west. [ The gas chambers are even filled with blood...what in the world has happened here?! ] Seiko and Ayumi walked over the cadavers and bones of the poor souls who have been trapped in the building. They didn't expect it to be like this. Except for Sachiko. While Seiko and Ayumi are in the 3rd floor, Sachiko continued collecting data from the 1st floor. [ My sling bag has cassettes but the video player is with Seiko and Ayumi...I guess I will have to go to them... ] She stopped at the dead end, or is it? Then went back to the spiral staircase. "Ayumi? Seiko? Where are you guys?" Sachiko waited for them to answer but neither of them replied. "Hello? Hello? Anybody there?!" Sachiko didn't know what the younger girls encountered.

She dashed through the wet floor and went up to the 2nd floor and saw the hospital bed in the middle of the hallway. "Eh? Why is this here?" Sachiko saw the white bed sheet without any stains at all and took a picture of it. But as she placed the camera back to her sling bag, the hospital bed was originally back to its previous location with the huge blood stain. But this time, the blood was fresh and Sachiko suddenly felt woozy. [ what the hell is happening?! ] She saw Satoshi's corpse on the floor, and heard Satoshi mutter words. "W-we're a-alive...Y-Yuka's a-alive..." Sachiko took a picture of Satoshi's pale body and checked his pockets to find at least a small cue. She then, found a DVD and kept it.

After getting the disc, she went to the 3rd floor and headed towards north to find an unconscious Seiko laying down on the bloody floor. "Seiko wake up!" Sachiko carried the taller girl's body to the operating table and checked her vital signs. [ Good, she's still breathing...I guess she's been knocked out... ] Sachiko stared at the wrench on the floor and concluded that Seiko's been hit by the tool. [ Damn it...hitting a person who previously was punch-drunk on the head can not only worsen the preceding injury, but it can also be critical to her life... ] Seiko woke up and looked at Sachiko. "I-I saw someone...a girl with brown hair and green eyes...s-she is the reason why I became senseless..." Seiko touched the back of her head and winced in pain. "We have to go to the hospital right after the expedition. Right now we have to look for Ayumi." Sachiko calmly said.

Meanwhile, Ayumi's walky-talky lost its signal and she also doesn't know she's heading to the radioactive section of the torture chamber. [ I can sense that something is not right...] Ayumi brought out the Geiger meter and checked the level of radiation. "100.00" Ayumi looked at her watch and read it with confusion. [ It stopped?! How?! I just replaced the battery yesterday! ] She also noticed that the time on her watch was the same as the grandfather clock beside her. She continued walking until she reached a small door. She opened it and found a lot of cassettes. She took it all and saw the newspapers and thesis statements posted on the wall. She read each one of them and saw a familiar face. It was Misuto. The door behind her suddenly closed and locked. Ayumi banged on the door, making the sound resonate. But no one came.

Ayumi sat down on the floor and heard voices in her head.

What are you trying to gain all this time?

Why are you still continuing such endless path?

What are you trying to see?

Are these actions for you or for others?

Is giving up a decision or an option?

Ayumi screamed and started to cry. "Sis...sis...help me..." No one is in the room except her, but it seemed like a glimmer of hope shinned upon her. "Ayumi...don't be afraid...you can do this..." Hinoe patted her sister's shoulder. "H-how?!" Ayumi stared at Hinoe with widened eyes. "Unless Misuto's soul is in peace , our souls can't rest...he brought me back to life but take note that I'm only living because of a robotic heart." Hinoe's words struck Ayumi. The younger sister thought her older sister could go home with her. But she thought wrong. "Listen Ayumi, you have to get rid of Misuto for good...I have faith in you..." Ayumi gathered up her courage. [ this is no time to cry...I have to do this for everyone's sake! ]

At Shinohara residence

Naomi was cooking bear stew when Namari suddenly cried. So she went to the crib and saw Misuto holding her and Seiko's daughter. Misuto looked at her with disgust and vanished with the baby. "NAMARI!!!" Naomi swiftly turned off all the appliances and locked the door, carrying a sports bag filled with a few clothes, 5 water bottles, and cereal bars, she had prepared for emergencies. Naomi got the address of the laboratory and went to the train station for fast transportation. By the time she got there, she noticed the car and got inside the building. As she was walking, she heard Namari's cry at the 3rd floor. She ran to the 3rd floor and went to the southern part of the floor.
