I Did Not Say Goodybye
Hey, do you remember me?
Back then, I was just a kid
A kid who runs around your house
A kid whom you always teach some tricks to
A kid that always gives you food
A kid that has no manners while eating
A kid whose always there to help you
A kid who's always by your side
But time passed by, and many changed
I changed the way I treat you
And how I respect you
I have been unkind to you
I don't know why I changed
Maybe because I don't want you to go out with us
Even though I know that there is no one
That there is nobody you can talk to.
Because you're just alone at your house
The people around you are busy
Some people that you love
Are far away from you
So my mother told me
That I need to be by your side
Because you need help
For you are too old to be alone in your house
You need someone to help you to walk
That serves as my reason
For changing the way I treat you
Because I need to be by your side
So my friends and I always play at your house
And you, you're always there to watch us
Then you ask us what we're doing
And we say, "We are ballerinas!"
But you laughed at what we said
Then we ask you, "What's funny?"
But you did not answer our question
You just laughed and laughed
That smile of yours
It's, like, hiding something
But one day, you just got weaker and weaker
So they've decided
That they need someone
That can always by your side
So your other son moved to your house
To watch and help you
Because I don't have the strength
And if that will happen again to you
Maybe I don't know what to do
Or maybe I won't be by your side
To help you
Because I'm just busy in doing my school works
And that's why they needed to find someone else
Somebody who can really help you
When I was in my first year high of school
I would always show you my card
Then you will say,
"You don't have a high grades."
But even though I have low grades,
I keep on saying,
"No way! I did get high grades."
And you'll just laugh and laugh
But when I see you sad
Because the one you love
will leave you again
I badly want to be your comfort
At the age of twelve
My dad told me about your story
With your love one,
Your wife who left you
And the four kids that you both have
Because of the power that she wants
And I did not realize that
Because of the way you treat her
When she lost her fortune
She came back to you
And instead of hating her
You just accepted her
But she did not stay too long
And she left you again
Not because of money
But because of her child
She cared for that child
But I don't know who that child is
And it made me wonder
Why you've accepted her
Even though she did bad things to you
Like that day, when you don't have money
To buy food for your children
While your wife selfishly wastes the money for nothing
And then comes another day,
The day that you accepted her once more
But when you're the one who needs help,
She just disappears
And she will just show her shelf
When she is in need
Why can't she be there to help you?
Why did she need to leave after you've just accepted her again?
If I were you I would not accept a person like her
But the most hardest part is the fact that I need to accept
That you don't even remember me
Because you're too old
Because you have a disease that cannot be cured
And that the day will come
When you will leave us
It was hard for us to accept that
You died but you did not remember me
You died but i did not say good bye
You died but I did not say sorry
For all the bad things that I've done
I just hope you'll know
That I made this spoken poetry for you
As a way to say goodbye to you,
My greatest grandpa boy.
