The Tree: Part 2

TW: Unintentional harming of others
Evan was a blushing mess when it came to dress rehearsal, for all other rehearsals, he had done his part perfectly, everything went smooth, and he was able to smile at Connor who would stand in place, arms as he chucked apples at the girl playing Dorothy, getting called out every now and then for throwing too hard, to which he simply flipped the director off with a shrug, making Evan nervous but amused.

EDIT: When in costume, Connor throws the apples by pelvic thrusting in the direction he wants them to be flung from his branches and them apples obediently yeet themselves at their target and you can't convince me otherwise that this isn't exactly what happened—

Apparently when Connor was standing in the line of auditioners with Evan, the tree roll had been next, and Connor was the only one there, so they had naturally assumed him standing stiff there was his act and casted him.

There were a few days left until the show went up and Evan was in a potato sack outfit that had stuffing sewn into as well as hay at the seems- for the actual show he would be painted yellow with black dirt splotches.
While Evan was getting his costume on, Connor was in the dressing room next to him, getting into the most amazing costume in the world and god he'll look adorable...Evan shook his head, He's going to claim he's as straight as the twigs on his branches- stop fantasizing, Hansen.

Evan tried to overly state how bi he was around Connor, but the other simply nodded and looked away without response. You probably make him uncomfortable...stop burdening him.
Or just stop talking down to yourself, either way-

There was a knock at the door.

Evan turned his head and opened it before a mobile tree rushed in and closed the door shut.

Connor sighed in relief, "It's so awkward to run around in a tree outfit while the back is unzipped- grant it I have clothes on but like, it feels weird having my back exposed and nothing else, I- Evan?" Connor stared at the boy who was stumbling as until he nearly fell, "Are...you okay?"

Evan gazed at Connor, in a tree costume, with branches reaching almost to the ceiling and little apples dangling off the...crooked twigs...Connor's face poked out of a hole that was supposed to be an owl den hollow in the tree, he had a curious expression and Evan could only feel heat right now, the one thought that was running through his head was just, damn,
I want your branches to catch me right now because I'm falling hard like an acorn and you're the most precious thing I've ever seen right now...except I'm saying this in my head...and staring at you- god I'm such a nerd, "I- um- just a bit nervous for dress rehearsal."

Connor nodding, waddling forward as he had no arm holes, he was just a tree with legs poking out in brown tights and darker brown shoes.

Evan was being drove to insanity at the fact that the boy he was hardcore crushing on, his first favorite thing in the world, was wearing a costume of his second favorite thing in the world.

"Can you zip up the back of me? I...don't have arms..." Connor grinned sheepishly.

Evan felt winded but nodded as Connor turned around, he quickly zipped up the other who gave a little bounce of appreciation, turning around to smile, "Thanks, Hansen."

Connor, in a tree costume, smiling, Evan was gone.

Evan let out a tiny little giggle of pure giddiness from simply Tree!Connor and Connor gave a confused smile, "What's that for?"

Evan quickly slapped a hand over his mouth before stuttering, "N-nothing just um...nothing I..." He cleared his throat, "Nothing."

Connor nodded slowly before turning towards the door, "They're going to call us on stage soon, ready?"

No, "Y-yep!"

Evan was dreading the moment he shared a scene with Connor, who was supposed to thrown apples at he and Dorothy as well as the Tinman, but he only threw apples at Alana and Jake, Jake especially for whatever reason, but Connor never hit Evan- until now.

Evan was following the other two on stage, not really deflecting too much as he didn't expect Connor to hit him.

However, Evan was wrong when he noticed Jake getting uncomfortably close to Evan while Alana spoke her lines, Jake winked at Evan who gave a naturally friendly smile, not wanting to be rude- Jake took this as more than a friendly smile and grinned back before moving his hand towards Evan's-

a foam apple slapped Evan hard right in the face, causing him to stumble off balance- Connor wasn't kidding around when he was throwing these things, that hurt, and Evan could feel his face heat where it had been hit, it was swelling up quickly.

Evan looked confused and hurt over at Connor who's face had gone completely red before he shuffled off stage best he could without arms.

Evan stared at the ground before Jake began to lead him off stage and towards the dressing rooms, sitting Evan down in his and shutting the door, "What the hell happened?"

Evan felt dizzy- why had Connor hit him?

"That guys a jerk- total asshole, always has been, don't sweat it, I'll beat him up later for it," Jake cracked his knuckles, "Damn druggies, always-"

"Sh-shut up!" Evan yelped, glaring up at Jake, "H-he's not a jerk, o-or an asshole, or a druggie! You don't even know him!" Evan hissed angrily.

Jake looked more than surprised, lifting his arms up in defense, "Dude, your face is bruising from where he hit you, why are you defending him?"

"Because I actually get to know p-people before acting- n-now please get out of my dressing room." Evan huffed.

Jake paused before biting his lip bitterly, "Fine, Whatever, I'll go hang out with Rich, asshat." He grumbled, walking out and pausing to growl at Connor who was outside the door.

Connor frowned as he kicked the door open gently, not having arms to, "Can I...come in, Ev?"

Evan heard Connor's voice and flinched before nodding, "Y-yeah..."

Connor entered and shut the door with his foot, "Hey..."

Evan was in the process of opening the mini fridge to his left before grabbing an ice pack, "H-hey..."

Connor stood in front of Evan, unable to sit at all in his costume, "Evan, I'm so sorry- I didn't mean to hit you at all- I swear."

"I- I believe you..." Evan smiled slightly at Connor before frowning, "It still hurts though.."

"I know." Connor sighed, "I'm so sorry..." He looked down at Evan, "Your face is bruised..."

"Saves the makeup artists from having to draw dirt there.." Evan cracked a grin.

Connor chuckled, "You're such an acorn."

Evan smiled, he liked that, "Wh-why an acorn?"

Connor suddenly began to shift on his feet, "I mean- acorns are like, cute and all and- stuff and-"

Evan's face turned red, "Wh-what?"

Abort. Abort, "I..." Connor groaned, "I was trying to hit Jake with the apple."

"O-okay?"

"Evan, I was jealous."

"Oh. . . O-OH-!" Evan looked more than surprised and the blush on his face turned darker.

Connor was also quite red, "I- yeah...it wasn't meant to hit you, but- I'm sorry... you're probably creeped out, huh?"

Evan was quickly to stand up and shake his head, setting the ice down, "N-no, not all!"

"No...?"

Evan smiled genuinely, "Connor, you've been dressed as...as a tree- all day- it's been killing me to not comment and how a-absolutely precious you look and h-how much I want to um..." Evan paused, "To- uh, well um, to just-" He leaned forward and kissed Connor quickly on the lips.

Connor was beyond embarrassed at this point and let out a frustrated grunt, "I-I don't have arms to grab your face and kiss you again..."

Evan felt his heart melt before he grabbed Connor's face and kissed him once again, the other kissing back properly this time.

Connor grinned against Evan's lips, "You're not too bad at kissing, Hansen, very in-tree-guing."

Evan giggled before kissing Connor's forehead, "Well, it helps wh-when um, there's a tree-mendous person l-like you..."
