The Tables Have Turned
3:24AM
Joanna tore herself away from Saskia and sophies side, and rushed over to Abigail and Sarah. Chiara followed over with a sense of urgency, as she knew she was The only one whose mental state was strong enough to deal with it. Alex took notice of what was going on, but kept focused on the frail girl who lay in her hands. Sophie heard Sarah's alert, but barely listened at all, still being too overwhelmed with Saskia, vowing then and there that she would protect her throughout her entire life, never letting Saskias shining bright light burn out.
Chiara took Abigail from Sarah's hands, and quickly looked at her, examining her face and body for any signs to the best of her knowledge. Sarah sat back crying, in a crazed shock, one hand over her mouth as she watched chiara attempt to speak to Abigail. Joanna knelt down in front of Sarah and brought her face up so her eyes would meet with her own.
"Sarah, it's ok, your going to be fine. We are gonna help Abigail, and she's gonna get better, she just had a worse reaction to the gas than the other girls, ok?" Joanna desperately searched Sarah's eyes for anything that would indicate her words were getting through to her. After Sarah had run through the words in her mind over and over again, telling herself sweet lies and burying away cold truths, she finally believed Joanna, taking a deep breath and preparing herself for anything she might have to do.
"Ok."
At this point Izzy and Saskia were becoming more aware and alive, registering their surroundings, being able to move their arms and legs again, being able to talk in short sentences. Sophie and Alex sat by them, keeping them safe and letting them feel warm, explaining to them what they knew, reassuring them that everything was going to be fine.
"Abigail still isn't waking up, but she's alive" Chiara said with a look of worry on her face, tapping her fingers against the ground. She sat there for a while, conjuring up the courage she needed to say the next sentence. "... I️ don't know what to do." She whispered in a sad reality of defeat, she looked away from Abigail, as though to not let her know that she had given up on her.
"There has to be something, I️ mean, she's alive. Won't she wake up later?" Joanna asked confused, she thought of Abigail as a broken object now, to distance herself from the situation, which gave her the ability to think of these thoughts.
"There is probably something..." Sarah said under her breath, speaking aloud to herself. She began to think of Abigail as a patient, a patient that she had never met before, so she snapped into her doctor mindset to help her.
"What?" Chiara asked, urging Sarah to continue. Sarah looked around the room to see that she had everyone's attention, even Saskias and Izzy's.
"There is probably something in reception that can help" She was convincing herself more so than the others, who were not very satisfied with her reasoning.
"Something I️n reception, that can help her." Chiara looked condescendingly down at her, preparing her next line of speech, she began "Well why don't we ju-" she was abruptly cut off by the sound of a blood curdling scream, its piercing noise echoed through the building, shaking each girl to their core. Chiara and Joanna exchanged a brief look before running out the door, searching for the origin of the scream. One part of Alex wanted to go with them, to leave Izzy to save another, but the other part knew that she had to care for Izzy, for Izzy would not be able to run and keep up with her yet. Izzy stood up with Alex, and hobbled over to the door, Sophie and Saskia followed closely behind, not wanting to be left alone. Sarah pleaded with Alex and Sophie for them to stay, telling them that Saskia and Izzy were not strong enough yet, that they couldn't leave Abigail, but Izzy simply looked at Sarah, stood up straight, and told her,
"the only reason you want us to stay is because you're scared" Izzy spat at her, and continued out of the door. Saskia had her arm around sophie for stability, the pair left Sarah alone, not wanting to get in the middle of the disagreement. Sarah sighed, she rubbed her eyes and pulled at something in herself to give her some strength. She looked to Abigail, who still lay silent on the ground, she couldn't bring herself to leave Abigail, not while she was in such a vulnerable position. She sat back down by Abigail, she kept talking to her, begging her to awaken through her words of plea, stroking her hair in desperate attempts to keep her as close to life as she could.
Joanna and Chiara flew down flights of stairs and smashed open doors to get to the site of the cry for help, with Alex, Saskia, Sophie, and Izzy following the sounds of their heavy footsteps and brief talking. They followed the sounds of crying and metal crunching to the Canteen, However all possible entrances had been shut and locked, so only those who were already inside could stay there. The girls moved around the glass and glared into the darkness of the Astra foyer from outside in the courtyard, they were standing by the stairs that led to the year 7 locker room, attempting to open the doors, however to no avail.
"HELP! PLEASE HELP!" A terrifying plead for help boomed through the inside of the building, just at that point the lights shot into life. The girls shielded their eyes from the bright illumination, only to open there eyes once more and immediately shut them again in disbelief and horror. Inside the artificially lit room stood Tally, hovering her hand over a board filled with buttons, screens, keys, and weapons. Only 2 meters in front of her were an array of people, Lily, Olivia L, Jemima, Olivia S, and Steffi. They were all tied to metal contraptions, each limb spread apart from the other, nothing but their Summer uniform draping from their bodies.
"BEBS!" Joanna screamed, she flung herself at the window again and again, hysterically trying to break the glass, trying to save Olivia. Olivia looked back at her, only then noticing the girls presences. Tally whipped her head around and saw the girls there, she was looking at them with a sense of pity, but then again, shouldn't they be pitying her? She floated her way over to the group of outsiders, ignoring the screams and cries of the girls that were tied up. She saw Joanna breathing heavily with fury through the glass, she was giving her a threat of some sort, but Tally wasn't listening, she simply looked at how much emotion she had crafted inside of her. Tally looked to the others who stood there, they looked worriedly at Tally, they looked like at her like she was dangerous. She smiled at how they reacted to her, like an emotion smoothie.
She walked away from the glass again and stood behind her throne off decisions, looking to the girls tied ahead of her. She saw the same red paint above each girl that sat in the rooms she so desperately watched before, 2 letters assigned to each person, to spell out: WRONG DOERS. Tally wondered the meaning of the words, taking her time while everyone around her was in a state of panic. She looked down at the table, running her hands across the points of the power saw, her finger tips running over the crevices of the drill, her palm cupping the handle of a beautifully sharp knife. She looked to the screen, reading the brief words 'Play Me' on some Tape, so without further ado she flicked on the screen, to which it responded by crackling to life.
"Hello Tally, I'd like to play a game... A Queenwood Game."
