Authors Say: Izzy
The sun shines distantly in the sky, sweet tones of blue radiate through the clouds and give the birds inspiration to sing and dance through the wind. It sits softly just before the break of mid day, and shines a subtle warmth upon Izzy's body. Izzy lays sprawled and flat against the concrete floor, a pool of blood circling her head. The white shimmers of the sun make the blood look rich, and it sparkles in the days perfect weather.
The rest of the girls are yet to find Izzy, they are yet to even begin their search. They noticed she had gone hours ago, each in their own time, not one of them addressed it verbally, so they still sat in stunned silence on the damp carpet of the hallways, the bodies of Olivia Shew, Chiara, and Steffi beginning to fade. Soon Abigail will stand, at almost the exact time of midday, and she will tell everyone that they have to move on. They will bicker and argue for a few moments, but only out of politeness. They all want to leave that place, not just the place of the bodies, but the school itself, so after short persuasion they will rise and follow Abigail to the front gates.
All the while, Izzy will continue to lay there, a blank expression on her face, waiting to be discovered and cause more harm. See, something you should know about izzy is that just moments before her death, she thought of who she was doing it for. Was it for Chiara and Olivia and Steffi? Or was it for the rest of the girls there? Was it because she didn't want to hurt anyone else again?
No.
What you have to understand about Izzy's death is that it was for her. It was because she didn't want to live anymore. She knew, as she fell backwards off the edge, feeling like she was being pushed by a force she had conjured up. She knew, in those final moments as she was falling, as she felt her stomach drop and her dress flapping at her sides, as the air rushed through her fingers and the orange light kissed her skin, she knew. She knew that this would cause more pain, more suffering, more anguish. She knew it would become another grief to deal with, she knew she'd burden the surviving girls even more than they already were. Yet, she still closed her eyes, just seconds from the ground, knowing it all full and well, because she no longer cared. She did this to herself because she didn't want to live anymore, she didn't want to walk another step or think another thought or see another wave on the rolling ocean. She did this because even though it would cause more pain than the pain she would lose, she wouldn't have to deal with it. She wouldn't have to deal with anything anymore. She had dealt with enough for a life time.
