Authors Say: Alex

Alex, as surprising as it may seem, was one of the people who were crying silently to themselves as they sat around Olivia Shew's and Steffi's dead bodies. She couldn't stop herself from being so fixated by the fact that they were lifeless. She had seen them moving just hours ago, and now... nothing. Merely just a shell of what used to hold so much emotion and memory and possibility. Alex sat there for so long just trying to comprehend how they can just be so... dead.

If this was to happen by itself, a singular event, for example if they had died in a fire inside of their own homes, then Alex wouldn't be crying. She's crying because she has been trying to be so damn strong for everyone else. She's tried with everything in her to protect others and be the brave one to save the day, but she's tired, and worn out, and running on nothing. She's been bottling up emotion, ever since the incident with Tally. Attacking Tally - which ultimately led to the deaths of both Tally and Lily - was a result of letting her emotions get the best of her. So she bottled them up, kept them tied down, buried them deep down in her heart so she wouldn't hurt anyone again.

Well, now, its had the opposite affect. She's tired of suppressing her feelings to save everyone else. She cant keep controlling those emotions. She doesn't want to harbour everyone else's fear in her own worn down and crippled soul. She doesn't want to help everyone else when she is the one that needs it so desperately right now. She's given up her oh so recognisable persona of being strong and brave, and replaced it with the paper man version of herself. The version that is a result of extreme mental trauma and trying to block out what she didn't want to remember. Now, not only must she embrace it, but she must encompass it into her entire being.
