Chapter 6
"Johnny!" Ghost exclaimed, knocking loudly on his door, not waiting for an answer before he pushed the door open, rushing inside. "Johnny, we have a case!"
Toast groaned, rolling over in his bed to look up at him. It had been three months since the conversation the two had had about starting PIE, and five months since Toast had began living with Ghost.
He blinked at Ghost, slowly processing what he had just told him. Once he realized, he quickly shot up into a sitting position, looking at Ghost with wide eyes. "A case?" He questioned, checking to be sure he had heard that correctly. Ghost nodded, confirming his question, and Toast grinned widely.
"That's amazing sir! We should get ready, then." He said, standing up. Ghost blushed at the realization that he had no shirt on, before quickly turning around to dart out of the room.
"Right! I'll let you get dressed. I'll make quick breakfast this morning. Then we can get going." Ghost shouted over his shoulder, closing Toast's door as he hurried to prepare before their very first case.
Both of them kept grins on their faces throughout the whole morning.

The two Johnnys both stepped out of the house they'd just been investigating. The two had found a small ghost, not a very high level, around maybe two possibly a three. The two had gotten rid of it quickly, a job very well done.
The kind old woman who lived in the house thanked them graciously, smiling as she shakily reached into her purse to pay the boys. She even tried to give them a tip, but the two kindly refused, saying they were simply very happy to help.
As the two clambered into their car(Toast's van, Ghost didn't have a car), they simply say for a few moments, staring straight forward and not saying a word. After what seemed to have been hours, Ghost let out a chuckle, unable to contain it from how happy he was.
"We.. Just got rid of our first ghost together... W-we actually did it.. PIE.. My dream, it's-its finally come true..." Ghost had a wide grin still etched over his face, however, tears were threatening to fall from his eyes. They were happy tears. He didn't think he had ever been this happy before, sat here with Toast, finally partners, and just finished with his very first case with him.
"I know." Toast whispered, almost unable to get the words out. "It's so.. Amazing... I'm so glad that we did this, Ghost." He smiled, leaning over in his seat to hug Ghost, who smiled as he hugged him back tightly, arms wrapped around his neck and face hidden in his neck as he let a single tear fall.
"I haven't been this happy in so many years..." He whispered, and Toast gave a small, almost sad smile.
"I'm glad that you're happy now.." He whispered back to him, and Ghost could have sworn he felt Toast press his lips to his forehead, just as they had three months ago, when the two had fallen asleep on the couch together.
The two simply say like that for quite a long time. They weren't sure how long, but to Ghost, it was over a bit too soon as Toast pulled away from the hug, clearing his throat.
"You know what we should do? We should go out, as a celebration. We have the money, and it will be nice to celebrate our dream finally being made a reality." Toast suggested, smiling over at Ghost, who's eyes widened.
Ghost quickly nodded his head, agreeing to the idea enthusiastically. Toast nodded, and began to drive back towards their apartment so the two could get ready. Ghost was still staring wide eyed out of the window, unable to keep himself from thinking of this as a date; although surely that is not at all what Toast intended for it to be.
The rest of the day passed slowly by, until it was time for dinner-when the two had decided was best to go out and celebrate. The two got quickly ready, and headed off, Toast once more driving them to a nice restaurant.
Ghost awkwardly followed along behind Toast as he walked inside. Ghost hadn't been out to eat in an actual restaurant in-he didn't even know how long it had been. He could never have afforded it on his own, so this was certainly a treat for him.
A very kind waitress seated the two of them, all the while flirting with Ghost, who was oblivious to it all. Toast chuckled at that, deciding to step in after noticing Ghost's distress at not knowing how to answer her questions.
"Right, well, if you would give us some time to look over the menus.." Toast smiled at her, reaching over the table to hold Ghost's hand, hoping for her to stop flirting with him. He could tell she was making Ghost very uncomfortable.
The waitress' eyes widened, and she nodded, recovering with a small smile as she walked away from their table. Toast chuckled again, taking his hand away from Ghost's and picking up his menu. Ghost's cheeks were tinted a very dark red, and he swallowed thickly before speaking up.
"Wha-uh.. What was that for...?" He questioned, and Toast looked up at him.
"Hm? Oh, holding your hand? Well.. The waitress wasn't going to stop flirting with you, and you seemed nervous. So I did the first thing I thought of so she would stop.. Now that I think about it, that was a bit awkward of me, huh? S-sorry.. I used to do the same when.. Trudy and I were out." Toast shrugged, and Ghost gave a tiny smile.
"O-oh.. You don't have to be sorry though. In fact, thank you.. I wouldn't have known what to say if she kept talking to me..." Ghost nervously chuckled again, and Toast have a smile back to him.
"Of course. Now let's figure out what we want, shall we?" He said, pointing at Ghost's menu before going back to looking at his own. Ghost nodded and picked his up, looking over it for anything that looked good-and also not too expensive. It was a habit by now, he supposed, from not having the most extra money for eating out like this. Soon, the two both found what they wanted, and the waitress came back around to take their order.
The two talked and laughed, and enjoyed their time with each other, happy with the day that they had had. Things for Ghost right now we're perfect; and he wasn't sure if anything could change that at this moment.
That was, until a certain someone stormed up to their table.
"Johnny?!" She exclaimed, slamming her hands down on the table. Both of the men sitting at the table flinched, staring in shock up at her. "Who's this?" She asked, sneering in Ghost's direction.
"Trudy?" Toast gaped at her, unsure of what to think at that moment. "Th-this is my f-"
"You have a boyfriend? Oh my god, that is so disgusting." Trudy scrunched up her nose in disgust, though there really wasn't much difference from that and her usual face.
"I didn't say-" Toast tried his best to speak up, but Trudy refused to let him.
"Aha! So that's why our relationship didn't work, it was all your fault!" She accused. "You're gay, and you never really liked me!"
"Oh, I'm the reason our relationship didn't work now? Because last time I checked, the reason our relationship didn't work was because you were sleeping with someone else." Toast finally butted in, raising his voice at her. Trudy looked shocked and furious that he had said anything to her.
"My fault? It wasn't my fault that you're gay and you weren't good for me!" She screamed, and Toast screamed right back at her. The both of them were causing quite a scene at the restaurant, and all Ghost could do was cower back in the booth, afraid to be caught in the middle of all of this.
Eventually one of the waitstaff came to break things up, telling Trudy that she was causing too much trouble and escorting her out.
Toast was fuming, staring-or rather glaring-at where she had been standing, not responding to anything. Ghost hesitantly reached across the table to touch his arm lightly. "Johnny..?"
"What?" Toast snapped back, turning his glare to Ghost, who flinched back. Toast immediately went wide eyed, apologizing.
"I'm so sorry sir.. I just..." He sighed. "We should just go."
Ghost nodded slowly in agreement, Toast paying for their food before the two walked out, Ghost just barely keeping up as he trailed behind him.
Toast slammed the car door, barely waiting for Ghost to get inside and close the door before he'd taken off back to their apartment.
Are you excited for more drama and sadness? I sure am!
Can I just say that this is one of my stories that I'm really really proud of? Like, that might be silly and it's probably not even that good, but I'm just having so much fun working on it, and I'm excited to continue it and eventually finish it. (Hopefully that'll be a while though)
I'm still excited for this story and everything I have planned in it. I hope that you'll enjoy it, despite some of the sad or dramatic parts in it. I think there is also a lot of fluff.. Does that make up for it at least a little bit? No? Oh well.
I think you'll hate but also love the next chapter(that's not a spoiler it's extremely vague okay). I've already got the next three chapters planned out completely, and I'm still adding on to it. But hopefully I'll get the next chapter up soon!
I hope that you enjoyed this chapter, please tell me what you thought! I love getting comments on things, they make my day. Anyways, see ya next chapter. Bye!-Bob
