Chapter 18
"Maxwell.." Toast breathed out, glaring at the ground as he tightly gripped the phone. "What did you do to him?" He screamed.
"Oh, I haven't done anything at all.. Yet. He's right here, safe and sound.." He chuckled once again, the sound filling Toast's ears and angering him. How dare he laugh like this was all a stupid joke? Why did it have to be Ghost he took?
"Don't you dare hurt him!" He screamed once again in to the phone, only to receive yet another chuckle.
"Don't you worry about that, Toaster. I won't lay a finger on him.. I just need you to come and find him~. Then, I really won't hurt him." He paused a moment. "That is, so long as you make it in time.."
"Put Ghost on the phone." Toast growled angrily.
"Why do you wa-"
"Put my Ghost, on the damn phone." Toast ground out, and he heard Maxwell sighing irritably. After a moment, he heard the sound of Ghost whimpering in fear-Toast assumed he had his mouth covered-before he could finally hear him speak.
"Johnny!" He shouted into the phone, desperation in his voice. "Do not come after me Johnny, please! It will all be okay, I don't want you to be hurt!"
"Ghost, I'm not going to leave you there." Toast spoke, his voice nearly cracking as he finally heard his love on the phone. He was alive, and he was okay-at the moment, at least. But Toast wouldn't let anything happen to him.
"I love you so much Johnny.." He heard Ghost cry, and Toast so badly wanted to cry himself, but instead he kept his voice steady, already walking out of the door.
"I love you too, Ghost.. Are you at the mansion?" He questioned, and Ghost muttered out a quiet yes. Before anything else could be said between the two, he heard Maxwell's voice on the phone once more.
"That's enough, I can't take this lovey dovey crap anymore. You have thirty minutes Toaster.." And with that the call had ended, Toast tossing his phone to the side in anger as he pressed down hard on the gas of their car, going as fast as possible to Maxwell's mansion.
He got there in just under 15 minutes, slamming open the doors and rushing in, immediately beginning on his search for Ghost. He turned corners, opened doors to rooms, listened for any life at all for nearly five minutes-when finally he heard something just down the hall.
"You dear boyfriend has only one minute left it seems, Ghostie. That's a shame.. Would have been much more interesting for him to walk in and see you before I.. Took care of my little problem~." Maxwell chuckled. Toast growled, darting down the hall and slamming the door to the room open.
Looking in the room, he was confused when all he saw was his Ghost, sat bruised and battered in a chair, his hands tied up and gag in his mouth, no Maxwell to be seen.
If he wasn't there, how had Toast heard him..?
Without thinking too much on this, Toast immediately ran to Ghost's side, too late to notice the fear in Ghost's eyes as he quickly shook his head, telling him not to come closer. Before he could do anything, he was knocked to the ground, the only thing he'd brought as a weapon against Maxwell(his knife he always had on him) sliding from his hands as he hit the ground.
He heard a chuckle behind him, immediately knowing it was Maxwell as he scrambled to his feet, turning around to face him. Again, no one was there, and he turned around and around to find him, wondering where he'd gone.
"Oh, poor pathetic Toaster. He came all this way to save his boyfriend.. Even though it was obvious I'd be the one to kill you both." Maxwell snarled, another chuckle heard all around them.
"What are you doing Maxwell?" Toast shouted. "Face me!"
"Face you?" There was a pause, before Toast fell back, startled as Maxwell appeared rift in front of his face. "Alright. But you should know by now, I don't play fair~"
Toast growled and jumped at him, trying to tackle him-and failing as Maxwell simply disappeared, reappearing behind him and chuckling.
"How did you even get Ghost here?!" He screamed, realizing how strange it was that he had managed to get him out of their apartment even though they had slept together that night.
"Uh.. Don't ask questions!" Maxwell shouted dramatically, the sound surrounding Toast in the room, as he raised an eyebrow.
"Plus.. Why exactly did you take him anyways? Couldn't you have just.. Killed us then? That's what you wanna do, right?" He questioned, and there was silence for a few moments.
"Dooon't tell me how to live my life!" Maxwell screamed, and Toast frowned.
"Dude.. You're.. You're a ghost." He pointed out, and that was when he was thrown backwards.
"I said not to tell me how to live!" Maxwell shouted, and Toast grunted, crawling backwards and away from Maxwell, who was rapidly approaching him. Toast glanced to Ghost-or at least, where he had been. Now, the chair sat there, cut ropes that had previously bound Ghost in place lay on the floor surrounding.
Toast took a deep breath and looked back up at Maxwell, keeping him distracted. Maxwell chuckled as he drew closer, Toast's back hitting the wall behind him. Just as Maxwell was about to do something, Ghost appeared behind him, holding the knife that had slipped from Toast's hands long before, and stabbing Maxwell.
Maxwell growled and disappeared, clutching his side where he'd been stabbed. Ghost quickly pocketed the knife, helping Toast to his feet and pulling him off down the hall, away from Maxwell, and doing their best to remember the way back out.
Guys
Some of you thought it was gonna be Jimmy but
It's been Maxwell this whole story! I wouldn't change it up now. I'm sure you're all wanting to see Jimmy but don't worry-he's in the next story.
Though, there is gonna be another character introduced in this one, which may be why you suspected Jimmy.. But it's not him, it is another VT character, one of the good guys. Well.. He tries.
Anyways! I hope you enjoyed this chapter. This book only has three chapters left, and then the epilogue. It'll be the first story I've ever completed. I hope you're all excited like I am.
I'll see you next chapter. Bye!-Bob
