King Trill...

When we finally got to the Star Travellers custom planet, we came out of the portal in the Portals Room. There were voices having what sounded like a serious conversation in the Meeting Room. I could easily make out Hectaars voice though it was being overlapped rapidly by someone who spoke Tarian.

I left Stacy to deal with her mud brick which she had dropped during the ride and strutted into the room. Immediately, I was blasted with the heated conversation. A Tarian who was formally dressed in shining royal blue robes and a extravagant gem hanging at the end of his necklace, "Neh helloio shila terani Scaldians bre sil."

Hectaar was massaging his forehead, looking extremely flustered, "Nei, sir."

A few contracts were spread before him and seemed to be the topic of the conversation. Having studied Law in Killy, I decided I might be of help, "Sir."

I quickly dipped my head to show respect when he turned to me because we often had extremely high status customers and I knew how to earn their favour. Carefully, I didn't lift my head until he made a 'Hrrrm' sound.

I flashed a charming smile, "I am Joanne Steps. Sir, I am unsure whether you can understand English but if you would have a problem with those contracts, I can help you."

The Tarian glared at me for a moment, "I am King Trill of the Tarians and yes, I speak every language of the Multiverse. I do not believe you can be of assistance."

With that abruptly rude answer, King Trill turned his back on me and continued to pester Hectaar, this time in English, "I want you to approve this declaration of war on the Scaldians. Without your signature, we are not able to get this onto any historical records because you own the whole history records of the Multiverse."

As Hectaar refused, I swiftly ducked back into King Trill's view and snatched up the documents, flipping through them. His Majesty, seemingly not have noticed, kept persisting with Hectaar.

It was only when she tapped me on the shoulder did I notice Lofty and Vilgrin. They had been standing in the shadows behind Hectaar, watching the scene unfold with great amusement.

Lofty, after scaring the wits out of me, winked mischievously, "I have a feeling you're going to do something about this."

In answer, I slam the documents onto the table and declare, "These are a scam."

There is a impenetrable silence and everyone stares at me. Then His Majesty King Trill splutters indignantly, "What?!"

Ignoring him, I continue, "You see? Obviously, all important papers in the Multiverse are carefully made with a stronger material than usual paper. For every planet, it tends to be slightly different. The Tarians have a type of slightly yellowed soft-cardboard-like paper. However! This paper is quite pure white especially if you put it up to the light and can be torn easily."

I tear a slit in the paper, "Only one planet has such easily broken paper."

Everyone was watching me, anticipating.

I pounced verbally, "He's a Scaldian!"

King Trill stares at me, then at the others and then lets out a loud, booming laugh, "Oh, dear! You have to find better Star Traveller, Hectaar. I am King Trill, the King of the Tarians."

I roll my eyes, "You're just digging yourself into a bigger hole, your voice is too loud to be a normal Tarian's and you are certainly way too tall. Then your appearance is shimmery and it looks as if you put on a whole lot of glitter but the planet you've just come from has just nearly drowned and that'll wash away your make-up. So all the shine is from the illusion. You're wearing the Illusionist Crystal right now as a necklace. Besides! King Trill was the last Tarian King! He's long dead."

King Trill says, "But even if I am a Scaldian, I am only asking for the same thing: to declare war."

I push on, "However, the document clearly says to declare Scaldians superior to all other planets and to give the whole planet of Tara to the Scaldians. It is written in the old, language of Scaldians that is never used anymore, that is why Hectaar could not decipher it."

There is a round of gasps throughout the room and I wait for everyone to hush before I go on, "It also wants to make Scaldians the supreme rulers of the Multiverse."

At 'supreme rulers' King Trill rushed for the Portal Room only to have Stacy come through and accidentally hit him with her mud brick, "Oops, are you all right?"

King Trill rubbed his arm and turned to flee but was blocked by Vilgrin and Lofty. Stacy said, "I feel that I have missed something extremely important."

I turn to Hectaar, "How much am I getting for this?"

He grumbles, "In Killian tokens? Thirty."

I shrug, "Sure." Then I spin around to size up King Trill, "Hey, Your Majesty! What's your actual name? No games."

The Scaldian tore off his necklace to reveal a hulking, two-headed general.

He exclaimed, "I am General Scorch of the Scaldians and I demand to be led back to my planet immediately!"
