Chapter 9
"As the princess of Aux," you said smiling right at Rhys. "Refuse King Rhys Barbicane of Sola to be my husband."
Everyone in the room was stunned to silence. Especially Rhys. His so called love of his life rejected him. In front of everyone.
"What do you mean?" He says. His smile was faltering.
"Exactly what I said." You turn to the crowd of women and servants. "I have a confession. I came here ecpecting not to be chosen. In fact, marriage is not even an option I'm considering. So to all those who are shocked or angry," you turn to Rhys. "I'm not apologizing for rejecting you this way. I believe being clear is the best way of getting what you want or need." The room was once again silent. "Alright then. I will be leaving tomorrow, so may you lovely ladies have a wonderful tine wooing your maybe future husband knowing you got one less rival, if you can call me that." With that being said, you left the room to pack.

You had just finished packing and were about to go to bed since you were leaving tomorrow. Oh how happy you were to get your feelings out into the open. A smile creeped up you lips as you thought of this. But about Eremius? You didn't have any feelings towards him, but you knew you were going to miss him. Before you went to bed you heard a knock. You opened it and outsode was Rhys.
"Hello Princess."
"Hi. What are you doing here."
"Just coming by to tell you I am joining you on your way back to Aux." This peaked your attention.
"Why? I rejected you."
"Thanks to your little stunt, I decided to put off marriage for a bit. And besides, I have prior business with your parents. So why waste two carriages when you can use one?" You understood his point. It would be less wasteful.
"I am leaving at eight in the morning."
"Alright princess. I shall see you then." He smiles before placing a kiss on your cheek and leaving. Soon after you slip into bed a sleep.
Timeskip brought to you by jissele
It was the appointed time and both you and Rhys entered the carriage. The ride was rather quite until Rhys asked you a question.
"Tell me princess. Why are you adamant about not getting married?" You turn to him and decide to answer because it seemed the right thing to do. Also because you felt bad for embarrassing him last night.
"My parents. They don't hate each other, but they don't love each other either. They had my brother because they needed an heir. They had me because my brother wanted a sibling. Marriage to me is simply a chain, and I don't plan on getting chained up just yet."
"Interesting princess. Very interesting." He says. After that the ride to Aux is once again quiet.
Eventually you make it back home and go to the throne room to greet your parents. When they see you they are happy, but when they see Rhys, they get confused.
"Pardon me your Majesty." Rhys says bowing. "I apologize for coming unannounced."
Unannouced? How odd? Didn't he have to discuss something with your parents?
"Rise my boy. Tell me though, why are you here?" Your father asks.
"It has been decided that you daughter and I are to be wed soon."
