Chapter Thirty-three

Sunday came, and being the love-struck puppy-eyes person I was, I imagined how that day could have gone. Any other way than Will leaving.

Some of them weren't particularly age appropriate, but that didn't stop my imagination from roaming.

Basically, Sunday went by fast. I ran into Bianca and Zoë making out a few times, but that was normal now.

Once Monday came, I'd come up with pick up lines, idiot jokes, and very good places to cry, so I was very prepared to communicate with Will.

But oh, boy, I was in for a surprise.

I caught a glimpse of him as he entered the school, so I sprinted to catch up. He walked fast, but I ran faster. I caught him right in from of his first core.

I put a hand on his shoulder, maybe with a little more force than I'd wanted.

"Nico!" Will exclaimed.

W-I-L-L! I signed, trying to sign as sarcastic as possible.

"Uh, listen, Neeks," He seemed like he wanted to smile at the new nickname, but didn't. "Meet me after school. Don't go to see Mr. Brunner. Just... please. Meet me."

I didn't know what to say, so I just nodded. I hadn't planned for a non-regection or a non-accepted response.

I nodded once more, the left. My mind had made itself up to spend the day in the little space Connor and I went the first day of school.

Sure, it had a few bad memories, but I could take it.

Once I got there, I made myself comfortable, all wrapped up in a little blanket burrito.

"Hey." I looked at the entrance of the book nook. Connor had decided to poke his head in.

I turned my nose up to him, and he knew I had a perfectly valid reason to do so.

"I... I guess I should apologise," he said.

I gave him a questionable look. "Octavian, he was controlling me. He threatened me, my brother. He said if my brother got involved... he'd... he'd make him mute, too. And if I snitched." Connor inhaled a sharp breath.

"I'm not trying to make excuses here, I was a real asshole." At least he admitted that much. "But... I'm sorry, Nico di Angelo."

I took a notepad from my bookbag. Go away.

Yeah, you're probably expecting the "Oh, you apologised! Everything's better; sunshine and rainbows!"

No. Connor Stoll, he nearly broke my ribcage. He caused Will worry. He caused me so much drama I didn't need or want. So no, I'm not going to accept his apology.

"I deserve this," Connor admitted. "Well, have fun... loser." He smiled and walked off.

And I fell asleep five minutes later, which was nice.
