Chapter Thirty-six

Funny thing, I didn't see Will all morning. Nor on my way to first core, which was weird. Normally we'd pass each other in the hallways at least once, if not only catching a glimpse of each other.

This went on until lunch.

God dammit, I'd think, just saying you hate me would hurt less than this.

And that was true, it would. I knew Will was avoiding me. It hurt, because if I hadn't wrote that stupid thing in his sketchbook, we'd at least still be friends.

That should have been enough for me.

But no, I had to go and be selfish.

There was a tap on my shoulder. "Hey, Nico?" It was a person who reminded me of someone I knew. Same nose, facial structure. This guy's face was just kinder. "I'm Travis Stoll." He held out his hand.

I cautiously poked it, not wanting to actually touch a whole hand.

"William Solace sent me for you," he said, faking a posh accent. I couldn't help but smile. "Please follow me."

He led me out of the lunch room, where I had been debating on whether or not I should buy a sandwich. Fate decided on that for me.

Travis, who looked almost exactly like his brother, led me to the one place I had been avoiding- the hallway. The one where Will use to leave sticky notes. It was just as empty and abandoned as I'd imagined it.

But we didn't stop there, no. There was a room at the end of the hallway. Just one room.

"Just... step inside here a minute," he said, dropping the sarcastic posh accent. His real voice was a bit scratchy, yet soft and radiated with harmless jokes.

He opened the door for me, and my eyes lit up.
