Chapter Twelve
The next holiday approached, Thanksgiving. This year, unlike all others, Lucas was trying to not have his family over. None of them knew Elizabeth has left, or about Joe. And of course not about their baby. However, keeping them away was hundreds times harder then he had intended. In a couple days, his mother father and older brother would be coming to visit. Joe on the other hand had gladly invited his family. His mother's, and two brothers. "Come on Lucas, they will all have to find out if our son wants to know his family…" Said Joe as he followed Lucas around the house. "I'm not comfy with it! Especially my family!" Lucas said completely scared of the reactions of the family members.
Sighing briefly Joe understood but they couldn't stop it. Tomorrow Joe's mothers and brothers were arriving and a day after that Lucas's. Lucas was on pins and needles, shaking softly as he hurried around the house making the guest room neat and ready. Thankfully they had five rooms for everyone to stay in. "Lucas, calm down. To much stress is bad for the both of you…" Joe said as he gently grabbed Lucas from behind and pulled him away from his work. "Joe come on, let me go." He said shaking gently. Joe laughed softly walking away still holding Lucas, forcing him to follow. "Take a break..try and relax." Joe said softly smiling sweetly as he made Lucas walk with him down stairs and to the living room. "Thanksgiving is in four days. We have BOTH of our families coming who have never met each other. And as far as my parents know I'm still married to Elizabeth and NOT pregnant!" He said feeling his heart beating faster as each moment passed.
Laughing sweetly Joe sat Lucas down and keeled in front of him holding his hands gently. "Relax…my family will love you. And if your family doesn't like me or this I don't know what to say. But not many families hate someone for long when a potential member is coming. Trust me. My brothers hated me when my mothers had their genes mixed to create me. They wanted to know why they weren't good enough and vowed to hate me forever. But they are coming here to spend the holiday with us." Joe said smiling sweetly at him. Joe was the only child out of three blood related to his parents. His brothers were adopted; twins actually.
Lucas stared at Joe before sighing some and leaning back to relax some. "I guess your right…but I don't want my family to disown me. I do want them there for our son" Lucas said softly. Joe nodded softly looking at Lucas before looking to his seven month pregnant belly. "They will love him, I can feel it. Just like we love him" Joe said happily before hugging Lucas's middle softly, laughing gently. "He gets more active each day…" Joe said gently rubbing Lucas's belly. Inside their son softly shifted and kicked at his father's touch. Lucas blushed softly, always feeling so embarrassed when Joe was near his stomach. He likes it but it still made him nervous, Lucas just let him be though letting the very proud father spend some time with his son before he's born.
The next morning Lucas and Joe waited for the car to arrive that would be Joe's family. Lucas paced slightly stopping every few seconds to adjust his cloths or fix his hair. Joe watched quietly from the couch, casually looking out the window to watch for the car. "Joe…does this outfit make me look fat…like instead of pregnant fat. I know some do that." Lucas asked worried. He could come off as just fat, but his worry was beyond words. Joe found it pointless however to tell Lucas he already inform his family of their grandson and nephew. Glancing away from his panicking love he saw the car pulling up and smiled, "Their here" he said softly Lucas almost screaming in fear staring at the door. Joe got up, kissing the frightened boys cheek before opening the door. "Shit.." Joe got out before being trampled by two very beautiful women who ran right to Lucas. "Hi mom…hi mother.." Joe said getting up and looking at the two women. "Oh Joe he is so cute and look at that belly!" They said between the two. One of the women had long black hair, fair face and was a typical average women. The other however was a tad bit taller then most women, stronger build, and shorter blonde hair.
"H-hi" Lucas was able to get out as he was almost mauled by the two excited women. "Oh I'm Miranda and this is Alexis!" Said the black haired women happily. Miranda was where Joe got his looks, but most body parts from Alexis, you could tell he was a perfect mix of the two. Glancing past the two women Lucas saw Joe meeting with men, probably his brothers. They two were rather different, they had orange hair. Clearly they were adopted but they seemed loved.
The six retreated to the living room, each taking a seat. Alexis and Miranda on the love seat, his brothers in the chairs and Lucas sat with Joe on the love seat. "Well everyone this is Lucas..he's met Mom and Mother but these two are my twin brothers Skylar and Nick." Joe said making sure everyone knew one another by name. "Its sad our little brother has found someone and have a baby on the way before we even found someone!" Said Skylar sighing some. Nick nodded in agreement while Miranda laughed gently. "Your so big Lucas, how far along are you?" Alexis asked softly. Lucas thought for a moment, "Well I'm around seven months…" He said softly. "Your due sometime after Christmas. Well I guess we are gonna come to stay for that holiday too…and maybe stick around to be here when our first grandbaby comes" said Miranda smiling big. Lucas watched the two smiling softly, gently glancing over to Joe. "Well…would you two like to see my last ultrasound? And some pictures?" He offered softly. "Yes!" The two proclaimed with joy. Lucas got up and led the two to his study to play them the ultrasound video and let them see some pictures. Joe sat behind to talk with his brothers. Shockingly the whole afternoon went very well. Lucas slowly became more comfy around them as the day passed, seeing they were accepting of him and the pregnancy. Now the next challenge was his own family.
