~ Chapter 17 ~ (FINAL CHAPTER)
....
The billions of neon, colorful flowers had bloom under the milkyway light, spreading their pollen with the help of the nice breezes through out the Trolls' magical forest. Flowers Day had started a few hours ago, and the Inhabitants of Trollstopia were laughing and hugging, enjoying themselves.
But Poppy was not dancing. She was not singing either. She wasn't even at the party of tonight to be precise; how could she go and have the best time of her life, knowing the one she loved dearly was probably mad and sad? All because Creek had revealed Branch's deepests secrets, had exposed what the gray troll didnt wanted the world to know yet, because he wasn't ready. Which was totally okay, why didn't Creek had a little bit of respect for the troll that had for all that's trolly, saved her life? To add to this feeling, she was sure Branch thought she was the one responsible... After all she was quoated at some parts of the text.
No matter how her friends, the SnackPack, had told her she should go with them, dance and perharps forget about her problems, she couldn't... She wanted to go with Branch, she was supposed to ask Branch to dance with her tonight, and she couldn't because the gray troll was back hiding underground, away from the world inside his danger-proof bunker.
Trolls had read the news paper, it was to late, and she didn't want to heard all the rumors going around the Trollstopia right now. Some trolls were happy but... She did heard some trolls said that her and Branch were crazy, that it wouldn't last.
She know it was stupid; she had awesome friends which she could participate with and she just had to ignore those comments ! But her heart wasn't to it and she didn't have the strenght, she was so exhausted...
To change her mind, the pink troll went to take a nice, warm shower. The cold breeze of tonight was making her tremble more anyways and she wanted to relax. The water ran down her naked, soft skin as she rubbed shampoo in her mane of pink hair. The water burned her scar badly, but she took it like a warrior coming back from war. This scar was nothing compare to the wound on her heart, bleeding open with pain.
She tried... She tried so bad to not think about the fight she had with Creek a few days ago. It was pulsing poison through her veins like a viper.
On the good side, she did gave him a piece of her mind; she had enough of his pure lies. She knew he was responsable for King Thrash paralysis, and she had intentionnof exposing his crime soom. She knew he lied about the amount Trolls needed to pay for his stupid yoga classes, she knew most of all he lied about their relashionship state to so many Trolls, and about the fact that she wanted him as a future consort, and eventually King.
She wasn't ready to give this title to anyone yet, not even her own boyfriend ! Relashionship needed time to grow, yet this purple weirdo was making her look like a ignorant future leader!
Last time, she had seeked for comfort from anyone, Branch being the one that had been here for her, now she wasn't afraid anymore to hurt a friend; Creek's lies had hurt her enough for her to put her limits; she didn't want him to tell anymore lies, and he would write a sincere apologies letter to Branch.
And she would give it to Branch... Only if he did went out of the bunker again.
She felt her heart ache more intensely. Gosh she missed him so much already and she felt horrible about how he must been feeling right now... Exposed, as if someone had open his chest and stole. His rib instead. Yes, this relashionship was really new, what if after all it had only been lust?
'' He doesn't love you! He was in the middle of nowhere with a girl, boys get horny ya know?? He just used you! ''
No no–It didn't felt right, because she knew her feelings were real... Only Creek's stupid arguments were going through her head again and again... She should not listen to him.
She stepped out of the shower, turning off the water and wrapping a cloud white towel around her body. After a journey in the forest, showers felt like rich luxury. She brushed the water out of her thick hair, drying her skin with the towel and put on clean pyjamas, ready to try change her mind before she went to bed.
She sat down with her scrapbooking material, starting the cut stars in a yellow, glitter paper and felt for the invitations she had to finish for tomorrow. The pink troll didn't have any trace of a muscle pulling to create a smile on her expression. The fuzzy pod was quiet, the music of the party reaching her ears in a comforting fog. She heard a slow dance being called... If only.
Until someone knocked at her door.
Poppy sighed, feeling forced to go open this door and explain to the troll she wasn't in the mood to help anyone right now. She walked toward the door and opened it–
.... BRANCH!!!
There he was! Standing right there in front of her! His blue eyes were staring at her pink ones, you could see the bandage wrapped tightly around his chest, just under his typical, looking surprisingly clean leaves vest. She let out the loudest squeal in history of squeals and jumped into the gray boy's arms, making him jump, almost loose his balance and most of all, gasp for air.
- Poppy !... Poppy, I can't breathe !... He chuckled softly.
She immediately let go of him, her hands gripping the side of her head as she explained in a hurry what had happened;
- Branch I swear, I didn't wrote anything about us in the newspaper! It was Creek! I was so worried when I realized you left this hospital and...
She suddendly felt Branch's arms wrapping tightly around her, bringing her against his chest. His nose found its place in the crook her neck and she knew.. She knew right there she was right. They did shared love.
She hugged him back, feeling tears of joy build in the corner of her eyes. Branch's gentle voice reached her ears;
- Poppy it's okay... Branch whispered, I'm sorry I saw the news and... I got a bit scared of what trolls would think i just needed time to think... I told Barb to tell you I was taking a bit of time away and to not worry, but apparently you went away running, he laughed.
She felt so dumb, now Barb trying to hold her back made sense! She hadn't listened to her friend and worried Branch would break up with her or something for no reason.
Relieved, she took his hand and guided her boyfriend inside her pod. She did not turned on the light since the two lamps were enough to give the place a lovely vibe. Branch looked around as she went get him a glass of water, since it was quit a walk between her pod and his bunker.
Branch actually knew she hadn't go to the party, he had go to the last preparations hoping to meet Poppy and ask her if she wanted rather go on a date with him instead of a loud party. He had end up learn from the Snack Pack that she was hiding in her pod, since the message he had gave Barb hadn't pass well. He had decided to go to Poppy's pod and.. He had prepared a surprise which he hoped, would rassure her about all that had happened in the last days.
Poppy came back with two glasses of water and Branch took one, taking a nervous sip. The pink troll felt worry; why nervous? Was he okay??
Had been Creek right?...
- Branch if you feel uncomfortable about something you can tell me anything... She started.
- I'm not–actually– here let me just...
He looked through his hair, and took out Gary from his black hair. He smiled to her, placing the remote control on the table and turning a button on.
- There's not any fuzz-odils in my stomach anymore by the way, he smiled, Poppy realizing in shock what Branch was about to do;
A thing about me is
I like to play games
I'll push your buttons for
The tinest thing
The thing about you is
You make it seems...
It doesn't matter where we are
You can make a fool out of me.
Branch walked closer to her, singing in this clear, sweet angel voice of his. There was no any fuzz-odil, it was Branch breathing, singing to her his love.
They call us crazy,
And in a feel...
'Cause they don't know what we go right here~...
He took both her hands, Poppy smiled to him, the cutest smile he had ever saw from her. No matter what trolls would think of them, it was him and Poppy, this kinda love is all they needed.
All that we are
It's all that I need
This kinda love is alright with me~
I know whatever we are
Is how it should be.
This kinda love is alright with me! ~
I know this kinda love is alright with me... ~!
Yeah ~!
Now they were dancing together around the place, holding two hands up in the hair, his hand on her side and hers on his chest. They were smiling like the two idiots they were, the music carrying them.
One more round, what's one more to take
Let's take it outside for the whole world to see!
A thing about us is we got no shame
Cause we're in love and we know we don't need a change!
All that we are
Is all that I need
This kinda love is alright with me
I know whatever we are
Is how it should be
This kinda love is alright with me
I know this kinda love is alright with me! ~
The song went more quiet, Branch placing his forehead against hers...
All that we are
Is all that I need
This kinda love is alright with me
Whatever we are
Is how it should be...
This kinda love is alright with me~
The music faded to a proud looking Branch... Yeah, this kinda love was trully all what they needed.
.
Both trolls were rassured, knowing no matter what the world would say, they were the only that could know their kinda love was right. All evening they went on singing, laughing, dancing and hugging, celebrating their own flowers day, Poppy placing a crown of blue flowers on top of the pop male's head.
Back home. Back in Trollstopia.
Branch was safe with Poppy.
Poppy was safe with Branch.
Soon they were cuddling in the dark, on the couch now that the movie they just watched had come to an end. Branch was distractely kissing her shoulder, his hands running under her t-shirt, expanding her chest with warmness.
This was perfect.
Well almost perfect. One thing was still missing.
Poppy shifted in her position, making Branch mumbled something under his breath. She took one of his hand, squeezing it in her palm as she closed the her eyes so she could have the sleep she deserved.
- I love you... Branch whispered.
- I love you too, Poppy told him.
...
- Mm... Poppy ? He asked after a while of silence.
- Yeah?....
...
- I feel happy.
Hearing this coming out of nowhere from no one else than Branch was kind of magical. She chuckled, pulling his hand so she could kiss his knuckles;
- It makes me happy that you are happy, she told him, chuckling.
Branch let out his own, tired and hoarse quiet laughter... And then, as he slowly drifted off too sleep, the impossible happened.
A shiver ran down Poppy's spine when she felt Branch's body suddendly get... Warmer. She opened her eyes, only to see a soft blue glow inside the pod, all coming from the body behind her.
She almost screamed, screamed to the whole village that Branch was happy. That Branch had found back his colors. That Branch was blue.
... Feeling the breathing of the now blue troll against her skin had never felt that good.
