Killian's POV

"It's freakier than I remember from the story" Swan muttered as we looked up at the beanstalk. I grimaced, I wasn't overly keen on going up, but I needed that blasted compass to kill the crocodile.

"It reminds me of death" Mulan complained.

"Encouraging" Snow said sarcastically.

"Well the compass awaits. Shall we?" I asked desperate to just get this over with.

"Wait" Swan said and rolled my eyes "If these beans create portals, why bother with a compass?" she asked and I sighed.

" Because there aren't any more beans. Whatever story you think you know, my dear, is most certainly wrong" I explained.

"There was a guy named Jack and a cow and something about an evil giant with a treasure and a golden goose. Or harp..." Swan pondered and I pulled a face.

"Sounds like a lovely tale, but the truth's a little bit more gruesome. The giants grew the beans, but rather than use them for good, they used them to plunder all the lands. Jack was a man who fought a terrible war, defeating all but one of the evil giants. The beans were destroyed by the giants as they died. If they couldn't have their magic, then nobody could. It's really very bad form" I grimaced thinking about it.

"Evil giants who made magic portal beans? Why doesn't anyone just go up and grow some more?" Swan asked and I rolled my eyes again. Swan really was getting on my nerves. I got that she hadn't been here for long but did she really need to ask all these stupid questions?

"Because one giant survived... the strongest and most terrible of them all. And we'll have to get past him to..." I explained. Each of the four women exchanged worried glances and I folded my arms across my chest in impatience.

"Get the magic compass" Snow said finishing my sentence and I nodded. "

"Indeed. The treasure remains, and amongst it is the compass. Now it will guide us to your land. Cora has the means to open a portal with the wardrobe ashes, but she can't find your land without the compass. Once we get it, steal the ashes from her, and we're on our way" I said.

"How do we know you're not just using us to get the compass for Cora?" Mulan asked and I was tempted to roll my eyes once more but I had to keep the facade up, that I liked and wanted to help them.

"Because you four are far safer company. All I need is a ride back. I'll swear allegiance to whomever gets me there first" I lied smoothly.

Swan looked at me skeptically but with a faked smile and a shrug she seemed to be convinced. "Then we'd better start climbing" she said and I nodded.

"Good, because I have places to be" I said adding internally 'and crocodiles to kill.' "Did I mention that the giant enchanted the beanstalk to repel intruders?" I said and all four looked at me with very displeased looks. Swan threw her hands up in the air.

"All right, so how do we get up there?" she snapped and I raised an eyebrow but ignored her tone and continued.

"I've got a counter spell from Cora, if you'd be so kind." Snow walked over and untied my arms and I rubbed them where they were sore from the rope "Thank you, milady. I've got one more of these. Cora was to accompany me. So... which one of you four lovelies shall take her place? Hmm? Go on. Fight it out. Don't be afraid to, you know, really get into it" I encouraged but not one moved. I was somewhat disappointed.

Adaline's POV

"Mom" Henry said groggily and and looked over to see him sitting up and rubbing his head. I walked over and sat on the end of the bed with a smile.

"No, sorry. Just me" I said and Henry looked around the apartment.

"Where's David?" he asked and I smiled a little.

"He's the sheriff while Emma's not here, he's gone to help the others" I explained. David had left late last night and left me to look after Henry. He reached up to scratch his had when I spotted something on his forearm. "Henry, did you burn yourself?" I asked and he shook his head.

"No, why?" he asked. I reached out and took his hand in my own. "How did that get there?" he asked and I shook my head.

"I have no idea, it wasn't there last night..." I muttered. "I'm going to call David. You stay right there" I ordered and he nodded very seriously. I slipped off the bed and walked into the kitchen where I pulled out my phone and called David. After three rings he answered.

"Anna?" he said and I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Yeah, hi. Are you doing anything important?" I asked. His grandson had a mysterious burn at that was the first question I asked?

"Not really. Why? What's happened? Are you alright? Is it Henry?" he bombarded me with questions and I would have jumped back a little had we been face to face.

"I'm fine. But you should probably get Regina..." I began but he cut me off.

"Why? What's she done?" he asked.

"If you'd let me finish I would explain" I snapped a little too harshly. "Sorry" I muttered. "I think the curse she put Henry under has done something. He just woke up and it looks like there is a burn on his forearm" I explained.

"Right, I'll get her and we'll be round in five" he said before cutting the line.

"What's going to happen to me?" I heard Henry's voice asked and I looked round to see him standing behind me. I folded my arms across my chest and raised an eyebrow.

"I thought I told you to stay in bed" I said and he looked at his feet. "It's fine, come on" I said and led him back to the bed.

"Am I going to die?" he asked and I shook my head.

"I don't want to fill you with false hope, Henry. But I have no idea" I said.
