Adaline's POV
The doctors and nurses had left Henry's bedside for now, and while they had been here I had read through what Henry believed to 'my' story. He was right, it was a very beautiful one, full of romance, adventure and sadness. If it was my life, I was pleased, yet sad that it was mine. I had spent a good hour or so looking at the picture of Captain Hook. From the drawing, he was quite handsome. I must have been a lucky girl. If it was me that is. Something that I highly doubt, what proof is there that we are all really story book characters. As I stared at the pictures in the book the door to Henry's room opened and I looked up. Emma walked in with a nod in my direction.
"Any change?" Emma asked and I shook my head, my blond-brown hair shaking out around me. "Henry... You were right about the curse. I should have believed you. I'm sorry" Emma said to Henry now looking down at him sadly. Wait? What? She believe all of it? Emma whispered something to Henry's softly and was just about to leave when Regina walked in. "Say what you got to say. You got ten minutes" Emma said and Regina nodded walking into the room and Emma stepped out
"You know where to meet?" Regina asked and Emma nodded curtly before leaving. Regina walked up to Henry's bed and brushed back some of his hair. "I'm sorry" she whispered.
" Pity, isn't it? There's nothing harder than not knowing whether you'll ever see your child again" a voice said and Regina looked at me, I shook my head and looked into the shadows.
Lurking there was a well dressed man, that I had never seen walk in.
"How did you get in here?"I asked
"You fell asleep" he said with a shrug.
I frowned trying to remember drifting off, but I couldn't recall it.
"Jefferson, now is not a good time" Regina said to the man, Jefferson.
"For you. Well, for me, it's the perfect time. I'm here to collect. Where... Where is she... My daughter?" he asked and I sighed.
"Emma was supposed to eat that apple, and she didn't. As far as I'm concerned, that makes our deal null and void" Regina snapped back and this peaked my interest. I let out a low cough,
"Is it wise to speak of such things with other people in the room?" I asked and they both looked at me.
"I'm done with you" Regina hissed at Jefferson.
"But I'm... I'm not done with you" he growled back.
What are you going to do? Kill me? I know you want to, but I also know you can't"
"Do you?"
"Yes. You don't have it in you. Now, if you excuse me, I have to save my son" Regina said ending the conversation. Jefferson turned to leave opening the door knowing he had lost the fight. But in the door way he turned back and looked at me
"It was nice to see you again, Adaline" he said and left. I looked at Regina who was stroking Henry's hair softly, but her eyes where wide as if Jefferson had said something he shouldn't have.
"Regina?" I asked and she looked at me "Everyone, well Henry and that guy, keep calling me Adaline. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you?" I asked and she raised and eyebrow but shook her head.
"Nothing at all" she said and with that left the room.
Once everyone had left I took the book and sat on the end of Henry's bed and opened it up. "Henry" I said quietly but enough for him to hear me if he could. "Henry's its Anna. If you can hear me, I have you book safe and Regina and Emma are looking for a cure for you. But in the mean time, hang on in there kid" I paused and felt a bit stupid but continued. "You told me that one of your favorite stories in you book was the one you thought I was in. I've read it and I agree with you, it's my favorite story as well, whether its true or not. So I'm going to read you my favorite part in it" I said and there was no response from Henry, of course there wasn't. "Well, my favorite part in the story is when Captain Hook, meets Adaline. So here it goes
Adaline was from a family with a rich background. Her mother was the daughter of a rich duke, and her father was from a similar background. Adaline had always wanted to be more Lady like, like her mother was and so one day in an effort to do this, she took one of her mother's beautiful long dresses and put it on then went for a walk in the town. As she walked along the docks she struggled not to step on the hems of the dress she wore and was looking down at the ground, concentrating really hard. But she stepped awkwardly on the cobbled stone path and tripped over the dress and fell forwards. Adaline crashed into a man's hard chest. As she was still looking down she didn't see the man's face, but he was clearly in the Royal Navy from the look of his uniform. She winced and looked up at the sailor a blush rising in her cheeks. "I am so sorry" she said and he grinned down at her, a wide smile and blue eyes looking right through her.
"No harm done" the sailor replied with a chuckle and helped Adaline to stand back up. "The name's lieutenant Killian Jones" he said and bowed a little. "Adaline" she said and curtsied back. "Thank for your help Killian, it was nice to meet you" she said and was about to set off again on her treacherous walk home when Killian reached out and took her hand. "This may be a bit strange, but when can I see you again?" he asked and Adaline beamed. "You can walk me home if you like" she offered.
Killian had accepted her offer and the two walked to Adaline's house laughing all the way, particularly when every she tripped on her dress. They reached the front door and stopped. "Thank you for your help, Killian" she said and smiled.
"Will I see you again after this?" he asked and Adaline paused teasingly.
"Well... I'm going to the market tomorrow..." she said and he grinned back.
"I'll be there" he said seriously and she laughed.
"Okay then, I shall see you tomorrow" Adaline laughed and entered the house with a glance back a Killian who was watching her with interest.
The next morning Killian and Adaline did indeed meet at the market, and everyday after that. The two became close and would often be seen together, both of Adaline's parents approved of the match and that made the budding romance ever better. But after a long trip at see on orders of the King, Killian came back a different man, to a different Adaline. Her mother had died and had left her with only a gold ring to remember her by and her father, thinking Killian long gone, was planning to marry Adaline off to regain some of the wealth he had lost when her mother died. Adaline was not happy with this and would often spend her days at the docks hopping Killian to come back to her. But one day a pirate ship came into port. Adaline ran in fear, just as everyone else had but one of the pirates caught her and took her to the ship. here she discovered that Killian's brother, Liam, who she had gotten on well with, had been killed on a voyage and Killian had become Captain of the ship. But instead of returning just the same, he had renamed the ship the Jolly Rodger and become a pirate so that he wouldn't have to follow another man's order. "Adaline, I would understand if you didn't want to come with me" he said.
"Why would I not want to?" she asked "My mother is dead, my father is trying to marry me off to some stranger and there is nothing here for me" she said. "And besides, I love you" she shrugged.
"The come with me, leave this place and we can be together as I love you too" he said and Adaline smiled. "Ready for an adventure?" he asked.
"There, I hope you liked that Henry" I said finishing the story and shutting the book carefully.
