PERSONALITY
Open and friendly, Luke is easy to talk to. He's calm, allowing anyone to talk to him and not come away annoyed or panicked. He also tends to be humble, not thinking highly of himself, and likes to keep things neat and organized. However, he can be very clingy, wanting to stick as possible to those he cares about.
BACKGROUND
For such a simple guy, Luke's had a bit of a complicated life. He was born in Seoul, but his family relocated to Australia when he was two for five years. Luke began attending school there, and learned English right alongside Korean, to the point that some kids thought he'd always been in Australia.
When he was seven, however, the Moon family returned to Seoul. It was actually a bit of a culture shock to Luke to be back in Korea after having spent most of his life—all the stuff he could really remember—in Australia. Adjusting was hard, and he had to learn how to even write Korean properly, as he'd never really had to before.
He did make a friend, though—the next-door neighbors had a daughter, a little girl only two years younger than Luke, named Meiling.
Luke and Mei became close very quickly, as she never judged him for not knowing things or for seeming more Australian than Korean, and Luke became her playground protector, always willing to have her back and act as her big brother.
Mei and Luke stayed close, actually, even into adolescence, to the point that she sometimes referred to him as her brother, and he to her as a sister. As far as Luke's concerned, Mei's his little sister, the only sibling he has, as his parents had no kids after him.
He encouraged Mei when she realized her dream of singing, and helped her practice with his own hand-me-down guitar—given to him by an uncle when he was eleven, as said uncle believed that "every boy should play a little guitar". That guitar became Luke's life, honestly. He loves the feel of the strings under his fingertips, the smooth, cool wood, the sounds he can coax from the instrument with the right care—all of it. So it only made sense that he should help Mei practice.
Realizing his own dreams of pursuing music came later. Luke spent most of his teen years not really thinking about the future. He knew he'd need to enlist at some point—either before or after university, probably, but honestly hadn't given his future much thought. When he was seventeen, however, he realized pretty abruptly that if he didn't get to make music for the rest of his life, he'd probably be miserable. Thinking he was too old to be an idol trainee—and kind of liking the vibes of being a singer-songwriter anyway—Luke chose to study music in university, doubling his focus to production as well as performance.
After graduating university, Luke enlisted, wanting to get it done, and when he was discharged three years ago, he found a job as a waiter at a restaurant known for excellent barbecue. In his off hours, Luke wrote songs and performed at various tiny bar shows. And busking. Looooots of busking. Sometimes, he could talk Mei into joining him, though recently she hasn't been able to, as she was accepted into HQ—which, confidently, wasn't far from Luke's workplace. Hilariously, he still managed to be technically street casted. Someone who worked at HQ saw him singing while working, asked if he had any other musical skills, and after hearing a shitty iPhone recording Luke had done of himself playing guitar and singing, told him he should join the company. Needless to say, Luke took that offer.
