Previously on Chapter 10

I can see a creature hovering above Nancy. "Hey!" I said. It stops screeching at Nancy and turn to look at us. It roars loudly at the sight of us. I just stare at it in complete horror.

What is that thing?!

-The Flayed-

Y/N P.O.V

I just stare at the creature in front of me. It keeps making a growling sound. Traitor... it said. I furrow my eyebrow, wondering how in the world can I understand what this monster is saying. Then I remember... I'm half shadow monster.

"I'm not a traitor. I'm not on your side to begin with. Never was and never will be..." I said, glaring at the monster. You're the master's kid... you should be helping him... it said. I scoff at what he said.

"Help him? To kill the humans... destroy the world?! Uh huh... it sounds like all jolly to him. But not to me... I love this world. He does not belong here. So HE should stay where he should be. In the Upside Down" I said. The monster just growls at me. I can smell the pungent smell of the chemicals. It makes me gag a little at the scent.

"Leave!" I yelled. It runs at me and jump, ready to pounce at me. I focus on it and it floats mid-air due to my power. I can feel my blood flowing down my nose. I can feel my eyes changing in color.

"I said... LEAVE!!!" I screamed. The monster got sent out of the window. I breathe heavily. I stumble backward and someone catches me. I turn my head to see Mike. He looks at me in shock.

"Y-Your eyes..." he said, staring into my eyes. I just close my eyes, trying to calm myself. I open my eyes as they turns normal. I pull away from him. We turn around and run outside.

We arrive just in time to see the monster disfiguring and crawls over to the sewer. It left a pile of bones behind. I cringed in disgust at the sight.

Mike P.O.V

I walk back and forth as Y/N stays in her room with El. They're trying to look for the flayed. "If can't be good for them to be in there for so long" I said. I hear a sigh. "Mike... you need to relax" Max said. "What if they get a brain damage or something??" I said.

"Wait... is that like a real thing?" Lucas said. "No... it's not. He made that up. Mike doesn't know what he's talking about" she said. I turn to glare at her. "And you do??" I said, annoyed. I let out a scoff and start walking back and forth. She scoffs and stands up, gesturing me to come along.

"Hey, can you guys settle an argument for us?" She said, stopping in front of Nancy and the others. They turn their attention towards us. "Who should decide Y/N's and El's limit? Mike or themselves?" She said. I turn to look at her with an annoyed face.

"The way you framed that is such bullshit!" I said. "It's not bullshit, Mike! You see that's your whole problem. Which is also why she dumped your ass!" She said. "Y/N dumped you?" Nancy said, looking at me in shock.

"Yeah because she's conspiring against me. She's corrupting her!" I said. "Enlightening her. The fact is, she's not yours. She is her own person... capable of deciding things on her own. The same with El!" She said. "They're risking their lives for no reason!" I said.

"For no reason? Mike, the flayed are out there doing God knows what!" Nancy said. I let out a sigh. They don't understand what I'm feeling right now. "They are killing, flaying..." Lucas said. "Transforming into monsters" Will said. "And she's her own person..." Nancy said.

"Exactly! Thank you..." Max said, pleased that they side her. "Fully capable of making her own choices" Nancy continues. "Exactly! Y/N and El have saved the world twice and Mike still doesn't trust them" she said. I roll my eyes at what she said.

"Oh, you wanna talk about trust? Really? After you make them spy on us??" I said. "Wait... what?" Lucas said. I turn to look at him. "Oh, she didn't tell you this?" I said. He shakes his head. "No" he said. "Your girlfriend use the girls power spy on us" I said.

"No, no no no. I did not make them. It was THEIR ideas. I mean, why are we talking about this... seriously?" She said. "Yeah... who cares?" Will said. "I care" Lucas said, turning to look at him. I nod my head, finally having someone that sides with me.

"Yeah! I guess girlfriends don't lie, they spy" I said, turning the last word to Max. "We were just joking around!" She said. "Wouldn't it be so funny if I was taking a massive shit or something?" I said. "You weren't" she said. "Yeah, but what if I was?!" I said. "Then gross!!" She said, looking at me in disgust.

"Mike, seriously?" Nancy said. "I'm just trying to demonstrate how careless Max is with their powers. In fact, how careless all of you are! You're all treating them like they're some kind of machine when they're not a machine! I don't want them to die looking for the flayed, when they obviously vanished off of the face of the earth. So can we PLEASE come up with another plan, because I love Y/N and I can't lose her again!" I said, my voice gradually becomes louder. They instantly shut up after I said that.

Y/N P.O.V

I take off the blind fold. Eleven doing the same. "Did you find him?" I asked. She nods her head. I wipe my nose and stand up. Eleven doing the same. We make our way to the door.

Right as we are about to walk out. I can hear Mike's voice. He sounded angry. "Because I love Y/N and I can't lose her again!" He said. I turn my head to look at Eleven.

We walk outside. They they turn their heads to look at us. "What's going on?" I said. Mike quickly shakes his head. "Nothing... we were just discussing. Family matters" he said. "Oh..." I said, nodding my head. El and I start to tell them what we saw.

After that, we head to the kitchen because we need to drink some water. Using the power sometime can be very draining for us. I get some water and take some big gulps.

I turn my head and notice El staring at a cereal box. I turn my head to look at what she's staring at. I notice it's that cereal where it's colorful. In an instant, I can remember what she saw in her mother's mind. The rainbow room.

We can track where the source is... by going inside Billy's mind. It's risky... but if it means we can stop the Mind Flayer. Then it's a risk that I'm willing to take. I'll do anything in my power to keep everyone I love safe.
