Chapter 39 | The identity reveal

The two of them: Lizzie and Mister Crow. Stood at the intersection of the 'T' shaped platform simply talking. They both seemed engrossed in their conversation, as me and Patricia stood in bewilderment at how these two seemingly polar-opposite personalities with no connection at all could converse so easily.

The two figures hadn't seen me or Patricia yet, so I took the time to ask her "why the hell are they talking?" I harshly whispered.

Patricia looked at me her eyes unmoving as she replied "I have no idea."

"What could they be talking about?" I responded my tone yet again a confused whisper as I grasped my baton tighter and Patricia readjusted her grip on her katana.

"I'll go for Pigg-" Patricia started to speak but cut herself off.

"What do you mean? What pig?" I questioned confused.

Patricia looked back at me and exhaled in annoyance she pulled me back into the darkness of the corridor behind us, then she pulled me down into a crouch. "Do you have that box thing that Shadow's friend gave you?" She asked.

I waited, slightly confused before finally replying "do you mean Philip?"

In response she nodded, "yeah that guy, he gave you something, that helps with memory. Do you have it on you?" Patricia asked again, this time I remembered the box that Philip had given me.

Almost in an instant I removed the urging sensation I felt earlier that morning, where I had felt the urge to place the small box Philip had given me inside my backpack. "Yeah I think I do" I replied before I pulled the backpack off my back and reached into one of the pockets and retrieved the box that I got from Philip. The box was how I remembered, it was the size of a matchbox and wooden in design and feel with a lid on hinges on top and the engraving of a brain and a boarder around it all in a varnished brown colour.

I handed the small box to Patricia who grabbed it and then opened the lid, the inside was as I remembered: a black all consuming void. Patricia then spoke as I focused on the box "listen I need you to forget something."

"What?" I questioned back, my focus still grasped by the insides of the box.

"Forget Mister Crow's suggestions!" She commanded snapping the box lid shut. Almost immediately after the lid snapped shut my head began to pound.

Patricia turned me around to see the two figures once again, "what's the name of the man in the mask?" She questioned.

I thought long and hard about his name then replied with a foreign certainty I hadn't felt in a long time, "that's- that is Piggy Piggy!" I remembered him, the man that had kidnapped me the man who had changed his own name simply by asking for it.

Patricia swung me around and pulled me into a hug, "you're back!" She exclaimed excitedly her emotionless eyes gone and replaced by eyes of excitement.

"I remember!" I exclaimed hugging her back.

"Are you ready?" Patricia questioned pulling away from the hug and readying her katana.

I nodded and with that she turned her head and her emotions once again vacated her body. "You go for Piggy Piggy and I'll get Lizzie out of there!" I commanded as Patricia nodded in agreement. I placed the box back in my backpack and placed the backpack back onto my back.

Patricia sprinted forward with the grace of a gazelle her katana held behind her trailing in her hand. She collided with Piggy Piggy sending his gun flying off to the side of the platform. I rushed in next, my baton ready I headed directly toward Lizzie my arms grappling around her waist pulling her away from the fray and to the ground, to safety.

We watched as Piggy Piggy and Patricia fought. With out hand gun Piggy Piggy switched to the use of a combat knife striking swiftly with small arcs. Meanwhile his strikes were matched by Patricia's wide arcs swinging and changing their direction with a finesse only ever seen through a screen.

Piggy Piggy stepped backward inching closer to the edge of the platform as Patricia moved faster, and faster, showing no fatigue.

Suddenly, the tides of the battle turned in a shocking instant, Patricia stopped her arcs and strikes forward at Piggy Piggy's chest. Her strike fell short as Piggy Piggy turned on the back of his heel moving out of the way. As Patricia's arm followed the blade Piggy Piggy slashed down on her arms, cutting deep.

The katana fell from Patricia's hands, but her face did not wince in pain. She instead quickly retreated back moving away as Piggy Piggy moved in the way of her katana. Blood seeped into the sleeve of Patricia's white dress shirt still she showed no signs of flinching.

Piggy Piggy moved forward as Patricia gabbed her baton and knife in each of her hands and aimed with them both at Piggy Piggy. The knife cut his clothing and the baton had little effect on him.

Piggy Piggy turned and using his knife he jabbed at Patricia's abdomen causing her to drop her weapons off the edge of the platform. She crumpled around the knife her back leaning toward it. Patricia looked up into Piggy Piggy's eyes and smiled as she jumped with both her feet and slammed both of them into the stomach of Piggy Piggy launching herself away from him and sending Piggy Piggy away from her.

She landed on her back and held in her grasp, Piggy Piggy's knife which had made a slight Mark on her waistcoat. The knife had failed to penetrate the waistcoat due to it's plating.

"Smart. Having plating in your waistcoat, but you forget I still have this very nice katana!" Piggy Piggy boasted as he grabbed Patricia's katana readying it in his hand.

Patricia tried to get up, but she struggled. I walked forward and asked "Hey! Who's under the mask?" At first directed at Lizzie then I repeated my question again, "Hey who is that under the mask?" This time with more anger and a commanding tone directed at Piggy Piggy.

They both looked toward me. Piggy Piggy replied first, "wouldn't you like to know!" He taunted.

Lizzie spoke up next as she rose to her feet steadily "shut the hell up! If you don't want me to tell her, you can take off that god awful mask!" She commanded.

Piggy Piggy seemed taken back at Lizzie's words, was she telling the truth? Did Lizzie really know who Piggy Piggy was? If so how did she know? How long had she known for?

I spoke up "go on then Lizzie tell me who he is because this worm finest seem able too!"

Lizzie responded quickly "His name is-" she was cut off almost immediately.

"NO!" Piggy Piggy commanded, then he exhaled in defeat, his hands moved up to his mask. Slowly, he started to unbuckle the straps on his mask, it loosened the more he fiddled with the mask until it came loose and he started to remove it from his head, black hair fell from behind his mask as his mask lowered to reveal dark green eyes his face so similar to Lizzie's. I recognised him.

Piggy Piggy was John. John Kincaid the son of Kara Kincaid and the older reclusive brother of Lizzie Kincaid.

"So, little Fox what do you think?" John questioned malice in his tone.

I thought for a second, my mind racing. "So the picture that was purchased from Kara's account, you were the one who bought that!" I stated remembering the picture of the old town sign.

"That was me!" John started, "But my mother intercepted the package and took it!" She snapped angrily, his words explained why I found the picture where it was.

"And when I went into your house, the PTD went off not because of your mother, but because of you!" I stated.

"What the hell are you two talking about!" Lizzie interrupted in a scream.

"Long story Lizzie" I responded plainly then turning back to John.

"It's not though is it!" Patricia from behind us spoke up. "Lizzie your brother, me and Alexis have been in a killing game called The end of days, me and Alexis have been trying to survive while your brother. Well he's another story, he's kidnapped, maimed and murdered people for no reason! He kidnapped Alexis and locked her in a shipping container and took--" she stopped herself and looked toward me. I nodded my head as if to say 'go on' and with that she did, "He took photos of her unconscious body, he twisted her mind and made her call him by his ideal name: Mister Crow. Do I need to go on?" She questioned sarcastically.

Lizzie looked at Patricia, then to John, her eyes welled with tears for a second before wiping them with her arm. She stood her head slightly lowered, her feet moved forward with a swift grace until she was a foot away from John.

Her head lifted and she spoke, "you were always the special one, you were always the child mom resented. Both her and dad were afraid of you ever since you were nine, what did that kid ever do to you or are you just inherently evil!" Lizzie questioned harshly, John looked on his eyes widening. "You always were a freak!" I could tell her words cut deep.

"NO I AM NOT!" John screamed in anger as he swiped up with the katana he took from Patricia slicing at Lizzie. Lizzie reared back as she crawled away from him and I rushed forward, my baton at the ready.
