My spine freezes up and my heart goes into overdrive. I didn't know when that voice subconsciously rooted itself in my fear bank and became something that stuck absolute fear right in the depths of me.

The roof top was slightly windy, my gown ruffled in the wind and the cool air brushes my cheeks. I could feel my cold sweat dry on my forehead as I slowly turned around.

I look up and choke on my own fear.

"No..." I whimper.

Johnny's POV

"Jonathan! Melt us lose now!" Reed yelled at me.

"Ask more nicely," I reply to him cockily with a smug grin.

"Grrr! Damn you Johnny!" he cursed

"Whoa, you really must be getting mad." I laugh in his face.

"AAAAARRRGGG" Reed growls in my face.

I back off with raised arms. "Whoa calm down egghead" I point a finger down at my legs and shot a ray of fire. It melts away the ice with ease and I'm instantly free.

I wiggle my shoe around to better feel lose and walk away from the others. I walk up to a frozen Reed and fold my arms, "Why are you so stressed out? I trust Vick, she can handle this"

"Arg!" Reed launches forward and makes a grab for my throat.

In a wide eyed panic I jump back just in time before my neck snapped. I land afew feet away from him and catch my breath, then I remembered Reed's powers. His arms stretch clear across the room and wrap around my throat.

"Oh hell," I choke as I grab at Reed's hand trying to breathe.

"Reed Richard, you stop strangling my brother right now!" Susan smacked Reed on the back of his head with her force field.

"Well we've tried teaching, shouting and knocking some sense into him Susan," Reed says to his wife. "But we have never tried strangling some sense into him"

I feel my eyes bulge out. "Reed, I'm starting to die here!"

"That the idea,"

Belilip, belilip, belilip....

Something began to vibrate in Reed's pocket. Instead of releasing me like I expected him to do and fly for his gadget, he just loses his grip on one hand and uses it to retrieve his PDA.

"Seriously dude!?" I fight the one hand around my neck whose fingers were continuously wrapping itself around me. "Guys? A little help?" I plead to the remaining people in the room.

"Nah I'm good," Logan says, lighting a cigarette.

"Help me, I help you," Susan says with folded arms.

"I like to see you suffer" Ben grins.

"Snap, snap, snap!" Wade chants with raised fist pumps.

"You guys are useless to me," I growl, rolling my eyes. I tilt my head down and start biting at Reed's fingers.

"Oh God no..." Reed whispered in absolute fear. The very dread in his voice made everyone in the room stop what they were doing and look at him. Reed was wide eyed an silent, he stared up at every in the room with a blank expression on his face as he tried to form words.

"eha!...eha!...eha!" a panting Tony ran into the room, breathing as if someone had forced him to run the Tour de France after a heavy meal. "You....ha....guys....ha...aren't gonna believ-haaaaa...."

"What's wrong with you?" Logan taps on his cigarette out, shaking the ashes to the ground.

Cap struts up after Tony into the room. "Don't mind him guys, the elevators out so we had to take the stairs."

"So many stairs!" Tony wails, collapsing to the floor.

"It was only 4 flights Tony" Cap shook his head at him with arm folded. "God, you are out of shape"

Tony flips his head back and glares at Cap, "Say that to me again...when I have....my suit...on" and he falls face first to the ground, as I assume, passed out.

Cap just shakes his head pitifully at his friend.

"Grak!" I feel tears rush down my eyes. "Somebody save me!"

"Whoa soldier," Cap comes to my aid, prying and untangling Reed's fingers from my neck.

"Anyway," Tony pushed himself off the ground. "What I was trying to say was, are you guys seeing the show that's going on outside? You won't believe it!"

"Vick's kicking some pretty serious Asguardian and Mutant tail" Cap praises, helping me stand steady.

"I knew she could do it" I wheeze wobbly.

"Well do you know if she can do this?" Reed speaks up in a deadly tone. He stretches out his hand to the center of the room and a hologram projects out of his PDA.

An image of the hospital roof could be seen, with a lone standing figure in the middle in a hospital gown, a crumpled Loki by the side, and at the very edge the outline of Magneto could be seen. Vick looked very sexy and confident, standing there with determination cruising out of her posture. Then it looked like she heard something and her whole demeanor crumbled.

Moving into focus I see the hovering figure behind Vick and my flames burst out of me, melting everything in sight

"See Johnny, this is why-" Reed started, but I don't even wait for him to finish. I don't even stand and watch, I belt for the door and flying down the corridor.

"THIS IS WHAT I WARNED YOU ABOUT!" I hear Tony yell after me.

What the hell did he even warn me about? I barely have time to think back as my whole essence was trained on the task of protecting Vick, getting to her, helping her and saving her.

Look, I see you really like her and all. But you gotta consider what's best for her......Being a super hero is one thing, but with this bounty on her head do you really think an international superhero-heartthrob-badboy is the best thing for her?

Tony's wrong. She can handle all this, this is Vick's new life, she loves it and she accepts it. The bounty on her head is just a slight bump in the road, not something that'll cause....great....harm? I'm not bad for her....am I?

Well you did just let her go face off mega super villains on her own.

But that was to show my confidence in her, how was I to know that whack job will show up?

....But you gotta consider what's best for her....

"Curse you Tony Stark" I growl as I start taking the exit stairs up, the sounds of everyone else's footsteps and loud chatting bringing up the rear behind me.

We did it! We hit 40K!

Well 40.2K to be exact. But who cares! We done did it!

I just went through my Table of Content and realized a lot of my chapters now have 1K+ reads...... how and when did this happen?

Hmmmm, maybe I should disappear for 2 months more often :D
