I have to find Johnny.

Everything I just found out jumbles about in my head, but I need him by my side to help me process it. And I don’t even know where to start looking for him!

Should I call Reed or Susan?

“Duh no!” I say out loud as I pace around the lab. “Susan will go crazy and Reed will never trust him again. They’ll think he left me on purpose!”

Ben?

“Probably…but I can’t ruin his time with Alicia over this shizz”

Sara will be too into her family reunion to check her phone anytime soon and David’s mom must have definitely confiscated his phone.

“Poor dude”

Whose left, whose left….who is my friend that I have left?

My last two options are between Kevin and the Avengers.

“I think I’m gonna go for Kevin on this one” I pull out my phone and dial.

“Wow,” I say looking up. “I just had a three way discussion with myself, either I need psychiatric and mental help or I just figured out the Trinity”

Ring…ring…riiiing

-Click!-

“Hello?” Kevin’s unsure voice comes over the speaker.

“Kev? It’s Vick” I say instantly. “Need your help”

“Waw” Kevin breathes in wonder, “Your calling me? This is amazing” he adds in wonder and excitement.

“Kevin, don’t fangirl on me. This is important” I say seriously.

“Okay, okay, okay. Lay it on me” Kevin adjusts his voice from the high pitched squeal it was heading towards.

“Johnny’s missing and I don’t know how to find him” I say desperately…too desperately if you ask me. My brain muses.

“Missing? Was he with you?” Kevin asked.

“Uh, yeah,” I reply, “He stayed back after Reed and Sue left so we had a nice wonderful breakfast then I went to watch TV and Deadpool came on but Johnny got jealous and switched the TV off so knowing my independent woman rights I got angry at him, we got into a huge fight said horrible stuff and then Johnny did something bad and I ran from him, he became really sad and left, I found out the truth and now I need to find him to sort all of this out, and waw I can’t believe I said this all in one breath”

I huff out and literally fall to the ground.

Kevin just whistles over the other end.

“Has she tried checking a bar?” a voice said from afar.

I heard rustling, I assume Kevin was turning his head and his hair was brushing over the mic.

“Wad ja say bro?” he asked.

“Normally guys go to drink their pains away, or to drink themselves into oblivion” I hear the overly deep and macho voice from a little distance away. Must be his brother visiting from outta town.

“Wait hold up!” I said. I pinch the bridge of my nose, “How does your brother know what we’re talking about?”

“Oh, you’re on speaker. Did I forget to mention that?”

I feel my whole body go red with blush, “KEVIN WILSON! NO YOU DID NOT TELL ME THAT!”

“Relax cupcake” his brother’s voice comes over the phone, “No one heard you just me and my five friends that I invited over for a party”

“WHAT!!”

“He’s just messing with ya Vick” I hear the sound of someone being elbowed and an ‘ow!’. “Don’t mind him”

“Okay whatevs” I regain my composure and the little bits of my dignity that melted onto the floor. “He said a bar?”

“Yup!” his big brother said through the phone.

“But there are so many!” I whine.

“Why don’t you get that super smart computer of Reed’s to do it?” Kevin said.

Herbie!

I facepalm myself.

“You didn’t think of that did you?” his brother says smugly.

“I hibernated him!” I cry defensively.

“Why would you do that?” his brother counters, “Want to do something you didn’t want any witnesses to see?” he adds darkly.

“I didn’t murder anyone” I reply to his dark tone. “I just wanted some alone time”

“ ‘A-lo-ne ti-me’ ” his brothers says again, even darker this time, “With Johnny while no one knew. Gotcha,” I’m sure he winked.

“No! I hibernated him before Johnny got here”

“What a ‘coinci-”

“YES! Coincidence! Totally a coincidence!” I cut him from finishing the sentence.

Man, this guy can be a pain!

“I know you’re thinking I’m annoying right now” the brother says spookily.

“More like a pain but you were close” I answer with a tight smile.

“Anyway,” Kevin interjects. “Since Herbie knows the residents of the building so well I assume he’s picked up and their conversation and habits. All you need to do is have him run a few scans, search through his memory database and calculate the places Johnny might be. You can even have him hack into security cameras to find him quicker”

“Kevin, you’re a genius!” I cheer, “If it wasn’t for time and distance I’d kiss you right now”

“I can take a rain check” he says coyly.

I laugh.

“I don’t like the idea of you suggesting hacking” I hear his brother say.

“Oh c’mon bro! Lay off, you are seriously cramping my style” Kevin says in an exhausted tone.

“What style!? You’re basically drooling over the phone as your talking to this girl”

“Vick! That is not true!” Kevin says desperately.

I just giggle.

“What are you his girlfriend?” his brother say through the phone, I hear a struggle as Kevin fruitlessly calls “Give it back!”

“Cause I always thought he was kinda gay”

I burst out this time.

“Not that there’s anything wrong with that” his brother adds.

“Nothing at all” I say.

I think Kevin’s brother gave him back the phone cause his voice sounds breathless.

“Ahem, Vick?” he coughs, “Ignore everything that lunatic just said. He’s a psycho and need helps”

“I agree to only two of those three things!” his brother calls in the background.

“Never mind your brother’s psychotic tendency, actually I find it kinda hot” I add.

“Thank you!” his brother yells appreciatively.

“Am I STILL on speaker?”

“You bet”

“Will you just help me track down Johnny!?” I say finally.

“Wiiiiiish I could” Kevin said in a dread filled voice.

“But…?” I say for him.

“I can’t” he finishes.

“Why!?”

“My Brother” he said like it was a name on its own.

“What about him?” I say bewilderedly. “He can tag along and come too if he has nothing better to do with/in his life”

“I DO!”

“PUT ME OFF SPEAKER!”

“Sorry can’t,” Kevin says desperately, “Same reason why I can’t go with you. My bro is stupidly overprotective and won’t even let me see the front door”

“Seriously?” I say with a bit of a laugh in my tone.

“Yes, seriously” Kevin replies grimly.

“That’s really wrong and oddly sweet of him” I say.

“Don’t try and make the moment any more pathetic then it is.” Kevin whispers darkly.

“Don’t worry, I’ll find Johnny on my own” I rub my forehead, “I just really wish I had some help”

“Don’t worry miss,” Kevin’s brother’s voice dominates now. “We’ll try and help you verbally as best we can”

“Waw, that is so much help” I say with so much sarcasm I think it drips all the way to their end.

“You know in Guatemala, sarcasm is a sign of-”

I cut the call.

“I have no time for more madness” I put the phone away, “I have enough of mine.”

“Herbie activate” I say loudly.

I hear whining and wheeling, futurist sounds and some lights I didn’t know were off turn on.

“Hello Miss Howa-”

“No time Herbie,” I say determinedly. “I’m on a mission and I need you to do what I say without question”

“If it doesn’t involve me having to make an emergency call to the police and the emergency hospital, then I’m all yours” Herbie replied confidently.

“Okay” I say.

I turn around and switch off Reed’s computer, then walk out of the lab towards the main corridor, while still talking to Herbie. “I need you to remember every single bar Johnny has ever mention in the Baxter Building and categorize his top three most important then I need you to access all of New York’s security camera’s and follow as far as you can Johnny’s movement. Think you can do that?”

I think Herbie made a mechanical snort. “Want me to make coffee for you while I’m at it?”

“Yes please.”

3 minutes and 2 mugs of chocolate later.

“I have his location”

I jump up off the living room couch.

“You sure?” I ask eagerly.

“Positive.”

“Then let’s go get him”
