"Thank you so much dears." Madeline said as we arrived back in her apartment and I smiled at her. "No problem at all, how are you feeling?" I asked as I helped her out of the wheelchair and onto the couch. "I'm fine dear. I was a cop before so it isn't the first time." She said and smiled at me. I nodded and looked at the time. "Oh shoot I got to go again. I'll be back tonight." I said and hugged her softly before walking out with Bucky. "How do you know her?" He asked as we walked to my apartment. "When I moved in she brought me cookies and we talked all afternoon. She was telling me she had no one left anymore so I decided to keep her company whenever I can." I said and opened up my door. I grabbed my stuff and walked out again. "Oh found more info about the competition?" I asked and he nodded. "I was planning on texting you before you told me to come here but the prize is a co tract with a music label and being the opening act to the guest judge. The other judges are Simon Cowell, Todrick Hall and Miley Cyrus." He said and I gasped. "Holy shit. Okay I will have to really prepare myself." I said and sighed. "Unfortunately I have no instruments." I said and we started walking down the stairs. "I'm sure they'll have some. What instruments do you play?" He said and I smiled. "Saxophone, Violin, Guitar, Bassguitar, Trumpet, Piano, flute and a little bit of drums." I said and he stopped walking looking at me in shock. "Music is everything." I said as I looked back at him and he nodded. "Well I'm no longer participating. I'm gonna watch you." He said as we walked further and I laughed. "I would love to win the prize. Then I can get out of here." I said softly and sighed. "Although I would never leave without Madeline. She can't die alone, I won't let her." I said as we walked outside. "Well I'll see you Monday." I said before turning around and walking to the bar.

*Friday afternoon*
I was getting changed when I heard a loud bang in Madeline's apartment. I quickly threw my shirt on, grabbed the spare key and ran to her apartment. "Madeline?" I asked as I opened up the door. I walked further inside and found her laying on the floor unconscious and some blood on the floor. I felt her pulse as I called 9-1-1. "9-1-1 what is your emergency?" A man asked on the other side. "Yes hi my neighbor is laying on the floor and there is blood coming out of her head, I can feel a pulse but it is weak and I can't get her to wake up." I said as I put him on speaker. "Okay what is your address?" He asked and I gave it to him. "Help is on the way, they'll be there in 5 minutes. Please stay on the line so we can stay updated about her situation." He said and I brushed some hair out of her face. "You can't die yet Madeline. You're all I have." I said softly as I held her hand. I got up and opened the door so the paramedics could come in fast. "They're almost there." The 9-1-1 operator said and I took a deep breath as I looked at Madeline. "Thank you." I said and as I sat back down next to Madeline  the paramedics ran in. "Hello miss what happened?" One of them asked. "I think she fell, I live next door and heard a loud bang, when I came here she was like this." I said as they checked her and prepped her to get her on the stretcher. "Thank you miss, can you step aside please?" He asked again and I nodded as I moved out of the way. "Shit we're losing her." The other paramedic said as the heart monitor flatlined. "N-No please." I said softly as tears welled up in my eyes. They performed CPR and her heart started beating again. I let out a relieved breath as they walked out. "Uhm... can I come please? I am all she has." I said and they nodded, I quickly followed them and in the ambulance I texted Bucky.

I quickly called John. "Hey John, I'm so sorry but I can't come in today. I'm on my way to the hospital with my neighbor." I said and I heard a chuckle on the other side. "No worries Aurora, I'll see you whenever you can." He said and I smiled weakly. "Thanks John. Bye." I said and hung up as we arrived we at the hospital. We walked in and I sat down in the waiting room. A few minutes later Bucky and Steve walked in. I looked up and got up. "Thank you guys for coming." I said as they walked over to me. "How is she?" Bucky asked and I sighed as I sat down. "I don't know we just got in as well." I said and a doctor walked over to us. "Are you Aurora?" She asked and I nodded. "Can you come with me please? She is panicking and keeps asking for you." She said and I got up. "Yes of course." I said and looked at Steve and Bucky. "I'll be right back." I said as I walked with the doctor, when we got in Madeline's room I saw her pushing all the nurses away and calling out for me. "Madeline, it's okay I'm right here." I said as I walked over and grabbed her hand. She looked at me and I saw confusion in her eyes. "It's okay, let them help you first okay?" I asked and she nodded as I stepped out of the way. "Can those guys please come in as well when you're done here?" I asked the doctor and she nodded. They finished up and I sat down next to Madeline. She quickly grabbed my hand and looked at me. "I think you fell. I was getting ready for the bar when I heard a loud bang coming from your apartment." I said softly and smiled at her. "Luckily you'll be okay." I said and she nodded softly as Bucky and Steve walked in. "You remember Bucky, right Madeline?" I said and she nodded as she softly smiled and reached out for his hand. "Nice to see you again dear." She said and looked at Steve. "And this is Steve." I said as she let go of Bucky's hand and reached for Steve's hand. "Nice to meet you dear." She said and weakly smiled. "How are you feeling m'am?" He asked and she held on tighter to my hand as she looked at me. "Good giving the circumstances. Thanks to the young lady." She said and I smiled. "I told you I would always be there for you." I said and she nodded. "I'm a little tired." She said and I held her hand with both hands. "Go to sleep Madeline, I'll be here when you wake up." I said and she nodded before drifting off to sleep. "What happened?" Bucky asked and I explained everything and he nodded. "No family?" Steve asked and I shook my head as I looked at Madeline. "I'm all she has." I said and leaned back in my chair. "That is so sad." He said softly and I nodded. "I already told Bucky that I decided the day that I moved in and she told me she didn't have family, that I would always be there for her. So that she wouldn't have to die alone." I said softly. "I've been there for her every day ever since. It feels like she is some kind of grand mother to me. So when her heart stopped earlier I was so scared." I said and looked down. We sat there in silence for a bit. "You know what we'll be here in turns to keep you company." Steve said and I looked up as he and Bucky nodded at each other. "I'll come back in the morning." Steve said and I smiled at him. "Thank you." I said and he walked out. Bucky picked up his chair and sat down on Madeline's other side. We just sat in silence the rest of the night before falling asleep.
