ZACH’S POV

How do you differentiate between a dream and a reality? Are dreams supposed to be seen only when you are asleep? Or is the reality always bitter? It’s like in a blink of an eye anything can happen.

That’s how I would describe what I am feeling currently. I genuinely thought Anna was enjoying it with us. I could see the glimmer of excitement and hope in her eyes when she held Alaia. And the sight of her holding my daughter is a memory I’ll forever cherish.

But her sudden disappearance had me worried. Is she alright? Does she need any help? What happened to her?

“Zach I am sure everything is alright, Anna looks like she can handle herself and who knows maybe it’s some work thing.” My mom said as she poured some soup in a bowl and pushed me to sit down on a chair.

“I don’t know Mom, it doesn’t seem like her. She never just disappears.” I said, wondering whether or not I should call and ask her.

But most importantly is it my place to say anything? Does she even like me?

Earlier she gave me her phone number so that I could call her whenever I needed her, and her exact words were ‘Call me anytime without any hesitation got it?’ 

So after I had the soup made by Anna and my mom, which was delicious by the way, I looked at Alaia and as if she understood me she gave me one of her cutest smile which assured me that she supported my idea,

“I am gonna call her now.”

So I called her and after the second ring she finally answered,

“Zach.” She said. Her voice makes me feel all giddy and sends shivers down my spine. But right now it sounded like she was in the middle of something important.

“Hello, Zach? Are you still there?” She asked.

Great, now I am making her worried, ugh that wasn’t the plan, I internally groaned.

“Zach you better answer me right now what happened? Are you in some sort of danger? ZACH!” 

“Huh I am right here sorry, I just wanted to ask if you are alright, you suddenly left, did I do something?” I just realized that it might be because of me she left. Maybe she didn’t like my house or she wasn’t comfortable, or oh shit I didn’t even offer her a drink, was she upset because I forgot to bring my car from the repair shop?!

“Zach you are overthinking again babe, I had some work.” Her answer brought me back to reality and I sighed in relief.

“Oh thank God, I thought it was me but- wait did you just call me babe?”

“Matter of fact I did Zach, what are you gonna do about it?” She said, and I blushed and saw my mom give me a wink, and then she picked Alaia from the couch and went to the bedroom, probably to give me privacy. “I can see you blush through the phone Zach.”

Welp didn’t know I was that predictable, I thought.

I heard some noises in the background and I forgot that she was busy. Then I heard a gunshot,

“Whoa Nate that’s a loaded gun, stop showcasing it around and go back to the kitchen, I am coming in a minute!” I heard her say. She was laughing and at that moment I realized that she is perfectly fine.

“Zach you have to see this.” I turn around and look at my mom who is now facing the television and I lower the phone and focus my attention on the news.

“It has now been confirmed that the billionaire CEO of StarX Ltd, Anna Gupta is also the leader of the Roseblood gang, which has secretly been helping the police and several charities and they also provide protection. This story is confirmed as a video was just released on social media, take a look at this exclusive video.” A reporter said.

“This is so unexpected, oh my God how did we not know this? We had the leader of RoseBlood at our place, that’s so cool.” I could hear the excitement and awe in her voice. But I couldn’t reply to her because I was so focused on the video that is playing right now in the news. 

A woman was leaning against the car with her arms crossed and a cigarette in her hand and you could see a figure of a well-built man standing beside her. They seem to be chilling around and the woman started laughing suddenly as if she knew what was going to happen. Because it was dark already you couldn’t see the surroundings well.  A man was running towards them and he looked scared and by his body language, you could see he was injured and bleeding. 

Finally, the woman acknowledged the man and threw the cigarette on the ground and faced the man. She stood up straight and the moment the man looked into her eyes, he started shaking and tried to run away but he was blocked by that guy who was previously standing beside this woman.

There was no audio in the video so you could not hear what the woman whispered in the man’s ear but whatever it was, it wasn’t good. The next thing you know the screen turned blurry and then it returned to normal, but the only difference was that the said man was now dead on the floor and the woman was swaying her hips and walking away from there with the well-built guy following her. But it wasn’t the end. She looked straight at the camera which was most probably located somewhere on high ground and winked. 

And I can recognize that smirk and wink anywhere. It is Anna.

“Zach are you still there?” I looked down at my phone which I was still holding and raised it to my ears and responded very quietly,

“Yes, I am still here.”

“I suppose you saw that news huh.” She asked. And I could detect the doubt and hurt in her voice. 

Maybe she doesn't trust me enough to tell me about this, I thought

“How could you not tell me this, did you think that I would judge you?” I asked and mentally prepared myself for an answer which will most probably break my heart.

“Because I knew you would be scared of me, and the one thing I don’t want is you to be afraid of me. You know I will always protect you and never let anything happen to you.” She said. “And if anyone even remotely thinks of touching a strand of your hair or harm you in any way, I would gladly kill that person without any hesitation.”

And I would be lying if that didn’t send shivers down my spine.

“See you do so much for me and don’t even tell me. Why? Do you think I can’t protect you as well?  I mean I may not be as strong as your bodyguards, well they are just too muscular and buff, but that does not mean I can’t protect you, I mean-“ 

“Zach you are rambling again, take a deep breath for me will you?” And she chuckled lightly and this made me relax a bit. 

“Is that why you left early?”

“I am sending a driver to pick you up, he will take you to my place and I will explain everything to you.” With that, she cut the call.

Well, that went well…

After one excruciating long hour of waiting, I finally reached the place Anna told me to come. At first glance, I could see the appeal. It’s a beautiful house.

I wonder who lives here and why Anna wanted to meet here. I thought.

A guard opened the gates to the house and we entered inside. Two guards were standing outside the gate. They looked at me and nodded and spoke something in their receiver. 

Once we reached the mansion, because calling it a house would be an understatement, a guard came towards us and opened the door of the car.

“Welcome to the Headquarters of RoseBlood.” 

“Um thank you,” I said nervously. Well looking at these guards who wore suits and were very well- groomed, my jeans and shirt looked so plain.

“Ma’am is already waiting for you in her room. Go straight ahead and you will find someone who would take you to Anna's room.” 

Before I could step inside I was met with a guy who was wearing spiderman pajamas and was very shirtless. He was eating choco chip ice cream standing behind a pillar but was very carefully trying to be discreet. 

“Um hey, can you tell me where Anna’s room is?” I tapped his shoulders and he screamed and turned and the ice cream in his hands fell on my shirt and chin.

“Jesus Christ, you scared me. Wait you said, Anna? You are the Zach.”  His demeanor changed suddenly. He was smiling. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you Zach,” 

“The Zach? I am sorry I think you got the wrong person, I am just a normal guy.” I said and was about to ask him something when he interrupted, 

“Well we will see about that now won’t we?” He smirked. “My name is Chase. Let me take you to Anna’s room and umm don’t tell her that I was eating her ice cream, she will kill me.” He said and started moving and I followed him.

“You are joking, right? It’s just ice cream, I am sure she wouldn’t mind, she is very nice and loves sharing.” I smiled remembering all the times in school when she used to give her pencil to someone who asked her even though it was the last pencil she had.

I am so grateful to her for everything she did for me, I thought

“Oh boy. You are in for a long ride lover boy. Well, I’ll leave you to it. This is her room. I would wish you good luck but knowing Anna, even this won’t work for you.” With that, he winked at me and went away.

I finally noticed my surroundings, there was this huge black door which eluded power and authority. It had these intricate designs on the border of the door, and these beautiful paintings were hanging outside her room, which looked expensive. You couldn’t hear what’s going on inside the room which gave me a reason to believe that this is a soundproof door.

Lucky for us huh, my subconscious said. 

Wait, what no?! Bad Zach, I thought.

I knocked on the door and looked around nervously. You could hear the chattering of people as they laughed and talked. You could also see people fighting, which scared me but I was intrigued by it.

Next thing I know, Anna is standing right in front of my face and grabbed my hand and pulled me inside and closed the door, and pushed me to the wall and this reminded me of all the romantic novels where a boy cages a girl between himself and the wall.

“I hope for your sake that you are thinking about me and no other girl.” She stared right at me and smirked. 

“N-no I was thinking about us only.” I shuttered. 

Her finger was slowly tracing my arms up and down and finally, she traced her finger to my neck and pulled my neck towards her in a rough way which made me think that she could do anything to me and I wouldn’t mind.

“Well, that’s good.” Her voice became so sultry and I rolled my eyes back when her lips touched my ears and she placed open-mouthed kisses near my ear and gradually went down to my neck and I moaned loudly.

I could feel her smirk on my neck which made me moan louder and it very much pleased her as she growled lightly and kissed me suddenly. 

You know the moment you kiss your soulmate, you get these fireworks in your stomach? Well, I knew Anna was and was my soulmate long before we kissed, but this kiss was just a cherry on top.

The kiss was so demanding and sensual and it felt like Anna was trying to show her love and adoration and desire through that kiss. Her lips were so soft and tasted strawberry and it made me bite her lip, but before I could do that, she bit my lip and pulled my lip in between her teeth.

“Wow,” I said, panting and looking at her moist and red lips which were looking like they were kissed. 

“Better than wow actually, now come and let’s talk before I fuck you hard in that bed and not stop until you beg me to and even then I would take you to your climax and make you cum so hard.” And with my eyes wide open, she took my hand in hers and intertwined our fingers together and smiled at me and guided me to her balcony.

Whatever happens today, I am never leaving her again.
