"Haley, what are you going to do when you graduate?" Kate was feeling anxious ever since she started twelfth grade. She had no aspirations or ambitions for the future. It was terrifying working so hard for something she couldn't visualise.

She could always become a nurse like her mother. Kate wondered if Haley ever had the same fears. If she did, she never let on.

Haley didn't talk about the future. She didn't think about the future. She wasn't one to live in the future, she lived in the now.

One day, Haley looked up dreamily at the sky.

"Kate, I want to fly." Kate reached over to punch Haley in the shoulder. She should've expected a joke answer like that. Here she was stressing about the future when her friend was dreaming of sprouting wings and zipping across the horizon.

"You think you're funny?" Kate asked as they both fell into fits of laughter.
