I am Death - Part 6
"I'm not kidding, Sandra, I'm seriously going insane." It was 7:10 pm, and I was now chilling in her apartment (again, in the same position as last time). "Like, I could feel my heart beat faster, I freaking blushed, and I acted like a naive 13 year old." I sat up on the sofa to face her directly. "Did I mention I blushed?"
Sandra sighed, shaking her head. "Yeah, but..."
"But what? Tell me! But what!" I had to know what she was thinking.
"Remember how I told you I remembered reading about a Death falling in love?" When I nodded, she continued. "Well, while you were at school, I went to the library, and searched through all the books I could find, because I knew I read it before."
"And? What did you find out? Did you find it? What did it say?" I had to know what my fate was.
She hesitated, until she finally went into her room and cane out, holding her bag. She reached into it and took out a book, then handed it to me. "It's page 215," she said, like going to that page would show my execution date.
Wary of what I would find on the page, I turned the pages slowly. Eventually, though, my eyes fell on the passage I was looking for.
Once, in 888 A.D, a mortal female seduced a Suicidal Death, causing him to fall in love. This resulted in devastation for both worlds.
For the mortals, they suffered a fatal time period, with twice as many deaths as there were after the Black Plague in 1350 A.D. Due to its supernatural start, this event was not mentioned in any of the mortals' history textbooks.
For the Deaths, however, was complete and utter chaos. The seduced Death was convicted, stripped of his Death role, and sent to the humans as a mortal, with all of his memories erased, but that was not enough. Soon after the conviction, the Death Realm broke in half, making it easier for the Felons to enter.
The Felons were pesky creatures like humans, only they were immortal like Deaths, and their bodies functioned in the same way. The Felons and Deaths used to be a united Death force at first, but some of the Deaths (that later bestowed upon themselves the name Felons) refused to hide from the mortals. The Felons believed that all humans should've been wiped out, and that Deaths should've ruled and lived as they pleased. The Deaths pointed out the many flaws in this situation, which, instead of changing the Felons' minds, instead caused them to leave, which led to the division between the two groups.
When the Felons left, they still refused to believe that their plan would fail, and instead worked to succeed with their plan, but they were weaker in number, and weren't as experienced as the Deaths were, causing them to fail.
The Deaths, on the other hand, were afraid the Felons would return, and they worked quickly to repair the break in the Death realm, which was what kept the Felons away.
It took 111 years, but the break was fixed so that it could not be broken in the same way, and both humanity and the Death realm returned to normal, with no sign of the Felons.
However, if a Death falls in love with a mortal*, they should be convicted immediately, and sent to the human world as a mortal without any of their memories, before they do any harm to the Death Realm and humanity as we know it, whether on purpose or accident.
*symptoms of falling in love: laughs and smiles a lot around the person, blushes frequently around the person, heart beats faster around the person, finds themselves thinking constantly about that person, feeling uncomfortable when maintaining eye contact with that person, and etc.
My mouth dried when I finished reading. If I was in a laughing mood, I might have made a joke about the writing, but this was not a laughing matter. "So, what's going to happen to me?" I finally asked Sandra.
She pressed her lips tightly together. "Well first, we can't let anyone know you're falling for a mortal."
I snorted. "Well, obviously. It's not like I'm going to go around screaming about a crush I have."
"And second, we'll have to find a way to sever your ties with him, or at least, not see him anymore," she continued, ignoring me. She thought for a moment, then gasped loudly, clapping her hands together. "Let's have you drop out of school!"
"What?" She wanted me to drop out of school? Was she insane? "Are you insane?" I hissed. "I can't just...drop out of school! And Delton said he would do the same thing to me as the Death that fell in love!"
"Why not? If you don't want to risk getting kicked out, then I suppose you can just ask for a transfer - although I do think you'll need some help with getting that done - and then you'll have to tell them why you want to transfer. And in May, too, so it's even more suspicious." When I didn't say anything, she continued talking.
"It's not like you really like it, anyway. Have you ever really tried in school?" When I didn't answer, she continued talking. "Just say you want to drop out, then leave. Or just stop going there starting tomorrow, saying you're going somewhere suddenly, then just start attending another school next year. Or maybe find a way to get yourself expelled. Hm..." she glanced at me. "It'll have to be a really big deal, though. What is something worth expelling someone for?"
"Sandra, I'm not going to do something where I might get expelled," I interrupted.
"Why? Does it really matter? I thought all your schools had fake profiles of you."
I sighed. "Yeah, but still." I peeked out her window, wondering if I dare say it.
"But still what?"
I forced myself to look into her face. "I didn't even say goodbye to him yet."
Sandra closed her eyes. "Ohh, crap. Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap."
"Why? What's wrong?" Was it because of what I said about saying goodbye? She didn't reply to me, just kept saying "crap" over and over again. "Sandra, what is it?"
Finally, after what seemed like hours, she finally looked up. "If anyone finds you in this kind of state," she said in a hollow tone, "you are so screwed."
