Chapter 1

Jace took a few steps back and he looked down at his hands. How could he hurt the one person he loved the most. He looked up and his eyes quickly fell onto Clary but he turned around quickly and backed away from her. Alec stepped through the elevator and his eyes searched for Jace.
"Jace?" It was Alec. His attention went straight to Jace, as it always did. They were parabatai and they had a special bond. Jace was always first on him mind in any battle, in any situation.
"For the Angel's sake, what happened to you?"
Alec took a step forward towards Jace but Jace took a step back. Alec's eyes flashed with concern and fear. Jace stared at Alec. He didn't say a word and then he dropped his head and Alec took a smaller step closer toward his brother. Jace moved back and pressed his back against the wall. "Stele," he said finally, in a cracking voice. "Do you have your stele?"

Alec's eyes grew and reached to his belt quickly pulling it out. "Of course." He held the stele out to Jace and tried to meet his eyes. Clary leaned forward hoping to see Jace's golden eyes to see how he was. She knew he wasn't okay but she needed to see his eyes, to see into his soul, but their eyes never met. Jace didn't move to grab it and Alec took another step, holding tighter onto the stele. "If you need an iratze, I..."
"No, not for me," Jace said, his voice was weak and he then pointed at Clary. "Her." He lifted his head up and looked at Alec for one second. Alec's blue eyes met Jace's golden eyes and Alec could see the pain inside them. Jace needed an iratze but he saw that he wanted Clary healed first.
"She needs it more than I do. Please, Alec," he said, he inhaled sharply and winced at some pain. He looked over at Izzy and Simon but he refused to look at Clary. He couldn't take seeing her all hurt, especially since he is the one who hurt her. "Help her for me."

He then turned and walked away, he knew Alec would listen to what he said and he would help Clary. He moved to the corner of the room and looked through some glass doors, he exhaled and closed his eyes, listening to Alec's footsteps mover off in the distance, towards Clary.
Alec moved closer to Clary and turned to look after Jace for a moment, then he came closer to Clary, stele in hand. Alec knelt down beside Clary and he looked at all the cuts along her body. Clary saw the confusion within Alec's blue eyes. "Who did this to you Clary." Clary couldn't speak, she just looked over to where Jace stood. He still had his back to everyone, a hand pressed against the glass door. Clary could make out some of Jace's reflection in the glass. She could see his shirt ripped and darken with blood and a few bruises covering his skin. Clary took her eyes off of Jace and looked back up at Alec. "Umm...it's a long story.''
Alec placed his stele to Clary's tender skin, and she jumped back as the heat and stinging entered her. Her eyes traveled back over to Jace. He hadn't moved from the last time she looked at him. Her heart ached, all she wanted was to be by his side and to tell him that everything was alright. "How about Jace, how badly is he hurt?" Alec said and lean down and looked at Clary's green eyes. Clary still tried to look at Jace but Alec got in her way. "I don't know." Clary shock her head and dropped her eyes. "He won't let me near him."
Alec's eyes doubled and he turned and looked over his shoulder towards Jace. Alec's blue eyes remained on Jace for a moment before he turned his attention back onto Clary.
"What did he do that he thinks is soo horrible?" he asked and Clary lifted her head up and looked confused at Alec. "What? Why would you think he did anything wrong Alec?" Clary asked in a hushed voice. Alec continued to draw the rune into her skin and she could feel it begin to work, healing her wounds. "Alec?'' Clary asked and he removed the stele from her skin and sat back. "Because of the way he is treating himself. He is punishing himself for what he believes is wrong. He won't let you or well me near him. Jace is torturing himself," Alec said in a whisper. His eyes met hers once again, "How did you two end up her anyways, Clary?"
Clary got slowly up onto her feet and her eyes went straight towards Jace, who still had his back to everyone in the room. "Umm...Jace brought me here." Clary began but Izzy cut her off and looked over at Alec then Jace.

Izzy tossed her long black hair over her shoulder and took a step towards Jace. "Jace if you knew about Lilith, why didn't you tell us?" Izzy asked, she didn't understand why he held this information from her and Alec. Jace exhaled and in a weak voice he responded to his sister, "I don't know."
Izzy was taken back and looked over at Alec who was confused by the way Jace was acting as well.
Alec could feel that Jace was distant, cold and numb. The numbness washed over Alec and he didn't like the feeling, something was wrong, very wrong but he just couldn't put his finger on it.

"What the Hell happened here?!?! Clary?" Isabelle asked. She wanted answers and clearly Jace wasn't going to give her any. Clary bit the bottom of her lip and her eyes reached Simon's. She inhaled and closed her eyes tightly before beginning.
"It wasn't truly Jace, what happened here. He was...he was being controlled by Lilith." said Clary. Isabelle's eyes grew in size and she couldn't hide the shock in them. Alec who was walking slowly towards Jace stop instantly and turned around to face Clary.

"What!?! Possession? No..." Isabelle shock her head and turned to face her brothers who both stood behind her. Jace turned around very slowly to finally face everyone in the room. He slowly reached up and pulled his bloody, ripped shirt down to revel the possession rune on his chest. A deep bloody cut ran through it. Jace still held his head down, not looking at anyone in the eyes.
