My owners' weight shifted in the saddle as we neared the starting gait. A tiny man grabbed the reins and persuaded me to go in.

I was happy to be back into racing. This was my first race back, and only my 6th start. So far I was on a winning streak, but could I hold it?

Its been 3 weeks since I had been tortued..could that effect how I run?
I shake my head.forgetting the thoughts. The man standing now by my head unattached the lead line and a bell had ran.

"Get ready! 3 seconds before gaits open!!!"

He yelled at the racers.

Im ready.

My veins rushed with energy as the bell sounded.

"And they're off!"

I lunged like a tiger pouncing on its prey as the bars flew open. I was free.

I quickly flew to the front, eager to win. But could I hold off?

"Easy boy. If we win this race you get to be in the triple crown. You can do this boy!! Top 3. Lets aim for that. Hold off til the last turn." I understood what he said and I eased to the back.

Im not normally a back runner but my owner knew what was best and I went with it.

My hooves continued to get a little quicker as we neared the last turn.

I lunged forward again, galloping with long strides. Passing at least 4 others. I was now third. But I wanted to win!!!  I galloped faster than ever before.

Nearing the finish line, my hooves and nose passed the other 2 racers and I had crossed the finish line.

I had won!!!
My jockey shouted in joy, as he threw his fist up at the air. Praising me with a pat with his other hand.

I was happy.

We neared the winners circle. 3 men placed a flower over my neck, and a blanket that said WINNER was thrown onto my back. The cameras flashed and my owner got off and led me back to the tack up area. I was so exited that I was doing a piaffe in the tack up stall.

"Good boy! We won!!" my owner cheerful said. He untacked me and loaded me into the trailer and we left. I was so happy for today that I could wait to tell all my horsee friends back home. It would be a 5 hour trailer ride.  So I decided to take a nap since I was so tired.

It wasnt long before my eyes had closedand I was daydreaming.
