Oh, I do I do I do I (Hey hey hey hey)
Dooo! Hey! (Hey hey hey hey)
Oh, I do I do I do I (Hey hey hey hey)
Dooo! Boy you got me (Hey hey hey)

Helpless!
Look into your eyes, and the sky's the limit
I'm helpless!
Down for the count, and I'm drownin' in 'em

Oh, poor (Y/n). She never expected to be absolutely smitten with the new exchange student, Arthur Kirkland. But I mean, everyone was in love with the classy British man. Who could resist his gentlemanly charm, and an accent that wooed everyone, especially the Americans?

I have never been the type to try and grab the spotlight
We were at a revel with some rebels on a hot night
Laughin' at my sister as she's dazzling the room
Then you walked in and my heart went "Boom!"
Tryin' to catch your eye from the side of the ballroom
Everybody's dancin' and the band's top volume
G

rind to the rhythm as we wine and dine

(Y/n) was quiet, meek even. She never was in the spotlight, and she never cared.

One day, sitting in her usual spot near the huge oak tree near the entrance at the school, she was greeted kindly by no other than Arthur, whos emerald green eyes sparkled brightly and green trench coat properly creased and never dirty. "Hello love," he said in his smooth, British accent. "Is this seat taken?"

Looking around quickly and back at him, you shook your head. He smiled, sitting down next to you, putting his lunchbox in his lap. "Tea?" he asked. You nodded, accepting his offer.

There you two sit underneath the huge oak tree, enjoying each other's company.

Grab my sister and whisper, "Yo, this one's mine." (Ooh)
My sister made her way across the room to you (Ooh)
And I got nervous, thinking, "What's she gonna do?" (Ooh)
She grabs you by the arm, I'm thinkin' "I'm through" (Ooh)
Then you look back at me, and suddenly I'm...
Helpless!

One day, your best friend stumbled upon you and Arthur's lunch/meeting place. He smirked at you, seeing as how you and him where sharing tea together and memories of the past, as well as English fokelore.

"I never thought you had it in you, (n/n)!" He laughed. "Never knew the exchange student was quite fond of you." You blushed, lightly punching him on the arm. "Shut up you, y-you ASSHEAD!" You say, lightly punching him again. He feigned hurt before looking back at Arthur and giving his signature "devil's laugh".

"Better treat this one nicely~" he cooed. You, still giving him punches, started kicking him instead. "I HATE YOU!" You screech, but unknowingly to you, Arthur blushed lightly at your best friend's sentence, but smiled a bit more.

Oh, look at those eyes (Look into your eyes, and the sky's the limit)
Oh! Yeah, I'm helpless, I know
(Down for the count and I'm drownin' in 'em)
(I'm helpless!)
I'm so into you, I am so into you
(Look into your eyes, and the sky's the limit)
(I'm helpless!)
I know I'm down for the count and I'm drownin' in 'em

Once again, for the third week since your best friend's teasing, Arthur was first now at your meeting place, below the oak tree, smiling to himself. If you ever asked, he'd shake his head. "No need to worry, love," He would say, his smiling widening. "I'm just thinking."

Finally, you had the courage to ask him.

"What are you thinking about?" You proceed to ask the following day, at lunch. He blinks at you, setting down his tea. "What do you mean, love?" He asked.

"You're always saying to me whenever I ask you why you're there earlier than me and you would say, "'Ah, poppet, I'm just thinking.'" What are you thinking about that gets you their earlier than me?" Arthur chuckles to himself. "It's a... how do I say it? A... surprise?"

Knowing he wouldn't say anything else, you both returned to peacefully eating your lunches.

One week later

I'm writin' a letter nightly
Now my life gets better, every letter that you write me
Laughin' at my sister, 'cause she wants to form a harem

Months had past since you and Arthur had met and became friends/all the 'strange' events that had happened between him, you, and your best friend. At one point, you and him had exchanged phone numbers to keep in touch on the weekends or whenever Arthur or you weren't at school.

The day was Saturday, and you where lazing on your bed, homework done and a small smile on your face. Arthur had agreed to come over today, and you couldn't wait. Granted, you could change, but because of your lazy ass you really didn't want to.

The doorbell rang, and you heard your mom, sounding pleased, answer, "Oh hello there Arthur Kirkland! My dear (Y/n) has been rambling about you since the day you met! Come on in, come on in!" You jumped at the sound of Arthur's voice, his accent making you blush and grabbing your pillow, you blushed into it.

"(Y/n), love!" You heard him call. Excitedly, you ran out your room, rushing down the stairs and into the living room. Arthur wore a bandana with the UK's flag on it, flashing a plain black leather jacket with a muddled green t-shirt underneath, black jeans and boots to go with it. He looked ready to come over while you looked like you just woken up, if 'just woken up' was 5 hours ago.

"Oh, oh, hello!" You say, smiling. "Apologies, I was lazy."

"No need," he said. "You look rather cute." He turned to your mom, giving her a goodie basket. "This is for you, Mrs. (L/n)." Your mom gasped. "Oh my, thank you Arthur!" She said, taking the basket from him. "Wow, this is quite lovely!" She cooed. You blushed, and turned to Arthur. "Shall we?" You ask.

"Certainly."

Two weeks later in the living room stressin' (stressin')
My father's stone-faced while you're asking for his blessin' (blessin')
I'm dying inside, as you wine and dine
And I'm tryin' not to cry 'cause there's nothing that your mind can't do (Ooh)

My father makes his way across the room to you (Ooh)
I panic for a second, thinking, "We're through." (Ooh)
But then he shakes your hand and says, "Be true." (Ooh)
And you turn back to me smiling, and I'm...

(Hey!)
Helpless!

As his visits where more frequent, your crush on him imploded. No more could you look him in his beautiful sparkling green eyes anymore. No more could you touch him (or getting touched by him) without blushing heavily. No more could you just... be yourself around him. He certainly noticed as you stopped meeting him at lunch by the oak tree, now joining your friend inside, pestering you about telling him your feelings. But alas, you couldn't, because you where scared of getting declined.

On one of his days of him visiting you, you where strangely quiet, not looking up from the book of Harry Potter he gave to you ask a present. Your eyes scanned the same page over, and over, and over again until your hazed out of your consciousness. Inside, you where screaming at yourself to wake up from your dazed form, but your body wouldn't budge. Suddenly, a soft shake from Arthur snapped you out of it. "Y-Yeah?" You stutter, looking up at him. He gently removes the book from your hands, and sits you on his lap, something he had never done. As your face burns bright red, you hang your head. He looks to you, and tilts your head upwards to look at him.

"Love?" He murmurs, "Is there something wrong?" Your face heats up again, but your are unable to move any muscle or bone in your body. You shake your head.

"(Y/n)?" His gentle voice is now a whisper, his green eyes still give off that aura of calmness. "Please tell me what's wrong."

You stutter out your answer. You can't find a response to tell him. Instead, what you get is a soft kiss on the lips, your eyes wide.

"Love," he begins as soon as his lips part from yours, "I've had this... feeling about you."

You blink, still not quite sure what happened as you where slightly dizzy from the kiss. "The day I met you," he confessed, "You where... special. You liked me. You... tolerated me. You... loved me as how I was. And I could have never forgotten that."

He blushes and looks away, his free hand touching his lips. He looks back up at you, an smile showing.

"You remember that I said that I was thinking about something?" He asks. You nod. "Well," he says, his other hand caressing your other cheek, "I was thinking about all the ways you where... perfect, (Y/n)."

You shake your head violently. "N-No," you manage to say finally, "I-" He kisses you again, to silence you. "No buts, (Y/n). You just are. From your (s/c)ed skin, to your perfect (e/c)ed eyes that shine brightly in happiness and content, you are my light, my perfectness, Ms. (L/n)." He breathes.

"So," he says after a short while of studying your face, "Will you be my girlfriend, (Y/n)?"

"Y-Yes!" You squeak out, then blushing about the outburst. He simply smiled, giving you another kiss.

"Thank you, love." He whispered.

(Hey!)
Helpless!
(Look into your eyes, and the sky's the limit)
I'm helpless, hoo
(Down for the count and I'm drownin' in 'em I'm helpless!)
Yes mommy, that boy is mine
(Look into your eyes, and the sky's the limit)
(I'm helpless!)
Helpless!
Down for the count and I'm drownin' in 'em

"Hey, love," he says one day as you and him lay on each other, looking up at the sky. "Can I quote- or rather, you something? A stupid friend of mine got this song stuck in my head, and I want to say a part of it."

"Sure," You say, sitting up. He sits up with you, and clearing his throat, he sings.

"Eliza, I don't have a dollar to my name! An acre of land, a troop to command, a dollop of fame. All I have's my honor, a tolerance for pain. A couple of college credits and my top-notch brain! Insane, your family brings out a different side of me. Peggy confides in me, Angelica tried to take a bite of me! No stress, my love for you is never in doubt! We'll get a little place in Harlem and we'll figure it out."

He looks to you, a smile making its way onto his face, as he continues.

"I've been livin' without a family since I was a child. My father left, my mother died, I grew up buckwild! But I'll never forget my mother's face, that was real. And long as I'm alive, Eliza, swear to God! You'll never feel so…"

{Helpless!} (I do I do I do I do!) Eliza...
{Helpless!} (I do I do I do I do!) I've never felt so
{Helpless!} (Hey, yeah, yeah!)
{Down for the count and I'm drownin' in 'em}

(Down for the count and I'm)
My life is gon' be fine 'cause Eliza's in it {Helpless!}
(I look into your eyes, and the sky's the limit)
{Helpless!}
(I'm) {Helpless!}
{Down for the count and I'm drownin' in 'em}

"(Y/n)," he says as he finished his song. "What do you think?" A smirk makes its way onto her face, and being the huge nerd that she is, she finishes off.

"In New York you can be a new man!" She says once, getting up and twirling around.

"In New York you can be a new man!" She says again, picking Arthur up and dancing with him.

"In New York you can be a new man~" She finishes, and Arthur leans in for the kiss, which she gladly accepts.

Helpless
