001~Impulsive Ideas
Maisie
"Stupid impulsive idiot, who doesn't give two shits about anyone." I muttered under my breath, roughly throwing random pairs of clothes into the suitcase. "Why the hell am I covering for this moron?" I sighed, throwing my arms in the air, defeatedly.
Life is, per say, difficult. So are brothers. Actually, difficult would be an understatement to describe my brother. At the moment, I had murderous thoughts running through my head, ones that would definitely land me in an asylum worse than Eichen House.
To say my patience level was low would be an understatement, and Preston knew that. Still he went on a supposed road trip with Malibu Barbie, while I was still stuck on my spontaneous idea of hunting him down. And at the moment I was packing all my necessities for the trip, an old duffle bag containing my clothes and two jumbo boxes of Kit Kats were packed securely. Since I had no idea where he was, I had only one option at the moment, that definitely didn't excite me.
It involved a visit to Malibu Barbie's house, who just so happened to be Stephanie Simons' sister. And Stephanie just so happened to be the chronic bitch of my graduating class, who I was glad to never see again. Actually I was happy to leave high school and all the drama seeking hormonal teens. Seems like my wishes weren't going to come true.
Finally, I settled on a red 2015 Jeep Wrangler, my favorite. I think dad had bought it for me as I birthday present, although my memory was a little hazy. As I rode down the streets in the warm Sacramento air, my implusiveness began to fade as the uneasiness took its place. Once I finally found her house—the one I vaguely remembered from multiple house parties I was dragged to by my 'friends'-I saw a baby blue Mini Cooper standing in the driveway.
Groaning to myself, I parked and tentatively climbed the stairs of her two story home. I gently knocked on the door, and after a few seconds it opened, yet not revealing the former Queen-bee. Instead, I was staring at this stranger. A male stranger to be specific.
He was probably thinking the same thing with the questioning look he was darting at me. "Uh, how may I help you?" He asked, a slight accent appearing in his voice.
"I'm looking for Stephanie Simons. Did I get the wrong house?" I asked, cringing at how squeaky my voice sounded.
"No no, she's here." He ran his fingers through his messy dark brown hair. "Steph! Someone's here to see you." He hollered, his voice echoing through the house. "Come in." He gave me a smile, which I returned. I gave him a once-over noting that he seemed to be around my age.
The house was much cooler then the climate outside, and the decor of the house was simple but had the Simons zest to it, different from when I last saw it. But then again, I didn't really have to time check out the interior with wild horny teens littered all over the place. I turned in the direction of the stairs as heels clicked down the steps. And there she was, lo and behold Stephanie Simons. I was shocked seeing her, mostly from her change. Last time I had seen her, she had long shimmery blonde hair that was to die for, and she dresses like a runway model. But the girl in front of me was physically changed. It was shocking to see the blonde locks now sporting a burgundy colour.
"Maisie? Maisie Colins?" Her voice made me snap out of my thoughts. I smiled at her, but before I knew it, I was engulfed in a suffocating hug. "Oh my god! You look so different!" She exclaimed, releasing me.
"I could say the same."
"No seriously! Your braces are gone, and you're not wearing those drab clothes!" I wince at the memory of my old self, the weak me with no back-bone. "It's been so long. We need to catch up!"
"Yea..." I trailed off awkwardly.
"So what are you doing here?" She asked, slightly confused. Honestly, I was a little taken back from her kindness and welcoming nature towards me. She was the same person who bullied me throughout my high school years, but now I was having doubts on whether she had a twin or not.
"Uhm...I was wondering if you know where Sienna is?" I shifted my weight from foot-to-foot.
"Oh yea, she's gone somewhere with her boyfriend. I'm just glad to have her off my back for the summer." Nope, definitely the same Stephanie.
"Why do you care anyways?"
"Her boyfriend just so happens to be my brother." I replied through gritted teeth, easily losing my cool. "And I would very much like to know where they are."
"That's so stalker-like. You should just leave him alone you know."
I rolled my eyes, "No I don't know. So do you know know where she is or not?"
"Nope."
"Well thanks anyway," I smiled as fake as I could, turning in the direction of the door. Unforunately, my clumsy-self bumped into someone. Out of balance I grabbed onto their shoulder, clad in a grey sweatshirt. I looked up to meet navy blue eyes, staring down at me with a hint of interest. I had completely forgot this guy was still in the room. I didn't know who he was, neither did I want to stick around to find out. I looked away first, murmuring a quick sorry and running out the door.
Finally in the comfort of my car, I let out a loud groan. I was at a dead-end, and couldn't think of another way to find that son of a gun. Releasing a sigh, I rested my head against the steering wheel, trying to think of another option.
Suddenly, the banging on my window was completely startling, causing me to snap my head up and in the process, hit my head against the headrest. I winced, rubbing the back of my head, and opening the window.
"Hiya." It was the same guy.
"Yea?" I asked.
"So I heard you need help finding your brother." His accent making a reappearance.
"Yea?" I repeated.
"So I want to help."
I gave him a weird look. "Why?" He simply ignored the question though.
"Does he have bluetooth in his car?" I nodded. "Does your car have your GPS, connected to your phone?" I nodded once again, extremely suspicious of what he wanted.
He held his palm out, I assumed for the bluetooth. "My phone? Why would I give it to you? For all I know you could a thief."
He rolled his eyes. "I'm not a thief, or involved in any criminal activities for the matter of fact. Just trust me. What other options do you have of finding your brother."
After a few seconds, I reluctantly handed it over to him. "If you ruin it, you're buying me a new one." He smirked before tapping his fingers on the screen.
After a few minutes of silence, except for the taps on the screen, my patience wore thin, "Can you tell me what you're doing?" Irritation seeping through my voice. He held up a finger, telling me to wait.
After what felt like hour, but was only a couple of minutes, he handed me back my phone a proud grin on his face.
I looked down at the screen with furrowed brows, noticing nothing.
He rolled his eyes, "turn on your GPS."
Once turned on, and after multiple other instructions from this stranger, a blinking dot appeared on the centre screen, continuously moving farther from another dot. After a few seconds it clicked. The red idle dot was my location while the blue dot in motion was my brother's spot, and he was heading south.
I gasped looking up at blue eyes, "He's heading down..."
"....to Los Angeles I presume." He finished the sentence off for me.
That bastard! Many other explicit words flew through my mind, as I turned towards the guy, "Thank you so much for your help." I said with a grateful smile before starting up the car.
Suddenly, my phone was once again taken out of my hand, "Uh huh, not so fast." He smirked.
"What the hell!"
"I'm coming with you."
I stared at his face for about a minute completely blank, then begin my laughing fit. I was full on knee-slapping, teary-eyed laughing at the bizarre idea of this Foreign fumbler. "You...you're really fu...funny you know!" I managed to say, through my nonstop giggles.
"I am not joking."
Clearing my throat and choking on air in the process, I concurred a proper sentence,"Excuse me? What do you mean by 'coming with me'? I will not be taking you anywhere."
"I'm joining you on your expedition." He stated nonchalantly, shooting me a wide smile.
"You're insane." I voiced my thoughts. "I don't even know your name, why the hell would I let you tag along?" I huffed, shaking my head, and he didn't even know my name.
"Soren."
"Huh?"
Rolling his eyes he repeated, "Soren Pierce, my name."
Slightly dumbfounded, I said awkwardly, "I still don't know anything about you. Or why you're so insistent on coming with me."
"Listen, I'm worried about my cousin just as much as you are for your brother. And I don't want to spend my summer in the house. Steph's constant doing is quite annoying. As well, I don't have anyone else to chat up with."
My lips quirked up slightly (at his accent) without my knowledge, but slipped off almost immediately. "Wait, you're Stephanie's cousin?"
"Unfortunately."
"So you're not from here?"
"No, from England actually."
"Ah, that explains the accent!" I exclaimed in realization. He chuckled in response.
"So I'm going to get my bag. All right?"
"You have my phone, not that I can't buy a new one." I scoffed.
"Ah, but this one will get you to your brother the fastest."
"Didn't anyone teach you that it's cruel to take advantage of people," I narrowed my eyes.
He simply grinned in return, taking steps backwards while keeping his gaze on me. I rolled my eyes, as I watched him skip through the door. I had a Preston's baseball bat and a spare pocketknife in the trunk, incase of emergency or a problem. I had no idea why I was letting this guy-Soren-bully me into coming. But the fact he cared for his Sienna more than her own sister, let me give him some sympathy.
The opening of the passenger door shook me out of my thoughts. He placed a small suitcase into the backseat before settling into the passenger seat. "You must be minted." Soren exclaimed, running his fingers over the headboard with raised eyebrows, glancing around my custom made car.
I grab the GPS from his hand, staring at him in confusion. "Uh, minted?"
"Minted means....rich! Yes, extremely rich."
I cleared my throat, ignoring his statement. Starting the car and backing out of the driveway, I released a sigh of relief for a small accomplishment.
"Thanks for allowing me to join." He said after a minute of silence.
"Not like I had any choice." I scoffed, ignoring his smile from my peripheral vision.
"But thank you anyways, Maisie."
