Chapter two

CHAPTER TWO: second chance at first line

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ

ALEXANDER MCCALL HAD CONVINCED COACH FINSTOCK TO HAVE HIM AS ASSISTANT COACH. Coach Finstock wrapped an arm around his shoulder, turning him back to the students. He had made a comment on how he wished it was Alexander who stayed back instead of Greenburg. Because, then, at least, he'd have someone who was good at playing lacrosse.

Alec wasn't sure how they would be able to hide what had happened to Scott. He knew if they said anything, they'd all be put into a mental asylum. And he definitely didn't want to be on one of those.

Alec stood on the side-lines, watching the players. Stiles and Scott had yet to arrive.

"Jackson, take a long stick today!" Coach Finstock ordered.

Of course, Jackson blocked the player.  And the others.

"MCCall!" Coach Finstock yelled, snapping Scott out of his daze. "What are you waiting for? Let's go!"

Scott ran at Jackson, although, Alec qualitfied it as more of a jog. Of course, with the speed Scott had gone at, Jackson easily knocked him down. Scott hit the ground, hard.

Of course, Coach started to laugh. "Hey, MCCall," he walked over to the fallen boy. "m-my grandmother can move faster than that. And she's dead. Do you think that you can move faster than the lifeless corpse of my dead grandma?"

"Oh, shit," he's gonna die. Alec thought, eyes widening as he was about to panic. He didn't have a plan for if Scott turned and started to attack and maul everyone on the field.

"McCall's gonna do it again! McCall's gonna do it again!" Coach yelled, waving a hand in the air to instruct for everyone to get back in place.

This time, when Scott got back into place, he had moved fast, an arm stretched out in front of him. He collided right with Jackson, knocking him to the ground. Scott clutched his head, making his brother and Stiles move forward quickly. They both threw an arm around him, ignoring Jackson behind them. "Scott?"

"I-I can't control it, Alec, Stiles," Scott grounded out. "It's happening."

"What? Right here? Now?" Stiles asked back. "All right, come on, get up."

Both Stiles and Alec pulled Scott to his feet, rubbing pass the team that had crowded around Jackson. They ran into the locker room, practically collapsing into it. "Come on, here we go. There. That's it. You okay? Scott, you okay?" Stiles quickly asked.

Scott looked up, his K9 teeth turning sharper, eyes glowing yellow as his voice sounded at the edge of a growl. "Get away from me!"

At the sound of his voice, the two stumbled back, Alec pushing Stiles behind him. Of course, Stiles tripped, making Alec heave him up back to his feet as they moved back. Alec cursed when Scott easily jumped onto of the lockers, growling at them. "Shit! Go! Go!"

Alec pushed Stiles the other way, Stiles scrambling to get back up when he had fallen. Alec hit a different set of lockers, his younger brother's head snapped towards him. Alec ran to the opposite side, running around to pull Stiles back behind him. The two had dumped into the door, Stiles being pushed into it by Alec, who kept forcing him to stay behind him.
Stiles grabbed the fire-extinguisher, pulling the top from the side and lifting it up before pointing it at Scott. He pulled the plug, the monoammonium phosphate hitting Scott, who stumbled back.

Alec pulled Stiles into the hallway, grabbing the fire extinguisher from his hands.

"Alec? Stiles? What happened?" Scott panted, looking and sounding confused.

Alec peeked his head over the side of the door before entering. Stiles threw his lacrosse gloves to the ground. "You tried to kill us. It's like I told you before. It's the anger. It's your pulse rising. It's a trigger."

Stiles and Alec sat in front of Scott, on the floor.

"But that's lacrosse. It's a pretty violent game, if you hadn't noticed." Scott replied.

"Well, it's definitely gonna be a hell of a lot more violent if you end up killing someone on the field. You can't play in that game." Alec continued to reason.

"But I'm first line."

Stiles shook his head. "Not anymore."

"Scott, the possibility of you killing someone is more important that a game. You could be in other games. You can't unkill someone." Alec told him.

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ

Alec in his room, looking at his work schedule. He thought of picking up a few more shifts this week, before he turned in his two-weeks notice. The only good thing about the place he worked at, was the food that he was-sometimes-allowed to bring home.

He was sure his boss hated him.

His head snapped up when he heard a loud bang come from Scott's room, fumbling to find his gun. After two second of looking for it, he gave up  and ran to Scott's room.

Alec only saw that Scott had been scared, before tackling the figure.

"Alec! Wait!" Scott called out, terrified his older brother would get hurt.

Alec had hit the man, before both his hands had been grabbed, and he had been tossed to the floor. He had been about to knee the man and head-butt him before looking up.  "Derek? What the fuck?" He yelled.

"Get off of him!" Scott yelled, moving to pull Derek. "Are you okay?" Scott asked Alec.

"Fine. Are you? And what the fuck is going on here?" Alec asked.

"Derek saw what happened on the field-" Scott started.

"Are you stal-" Alec started, turning but Derek was gone. "What the fuck?" He yelled.

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ
Alec had gone to Derek's house. "Derek!" He yelled out.  "Derek!"

Alec looked around, jumping back when the other was suddenly there.

"What are you doing here?" Derek asks.

"You broke into my house and threatened my brother," Alec replied, looking at him in disbelief, because Derek was acting like he was confused to see Alec there.

"He is going to get himself caught. If they catch him, they'll kill him. And then they will come after me."

Alec narrowed his eyes. "Who?"

"The Argents."

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ
"Wait, so, it had been the Argents to-" Alec cut himself off, not continuing the sentence. He had recalled seeing Kate a few times, Derek cancelling a few plans and Kate would show up.

Alec hadn't liked the look of her in the first place, but, had tried to hide it. He had no reason to not like her.

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ

Alec hadn't meant to spend an hour at Derek's house. "You do know that you can't just, break into people's houses, though, right?"

Alec had invited Derek over a few times before.  He was sure that Scott didn't remember ever seeing him. Derek would sneak into Alec's room, climb up the window.  Alec had told him multiple times that he could knock on the door, Derek said that it was more fun to sneak into the room.

Alec thought about asking how Laura was. He didn't. "You can't keep scaring Scott, like that. Just, showing up at the house."

"It didn't matter last time."

"You would still sneak in at night. Plus Scott was asleep and so was my mom, if she wasn't at work."

Derek knew what happen with Alec's father, Rafael. He had been angry when Alec told him the story, only a few days after it had happened.

"Are you okay?" Alec questioned, looking at Derek in worry.

Derek's head snapped up, moving forward to grab Alec. "H-"

"Derek!" Scott angrily yelled. "Derek!"

"What the hell?" Alec questioned, looking towards the door. He turned back, expect, Derek was gone.  Alec ran to the door, seeing Derek stood in front of Scott. "What the hell is going on? Why are you here?"

"Why am I here? Why are you here?" Scott asked back.

"I-" Alec started. "I don't have to answer you! You should be at school!"

"He needs to stay away from Allison!" Scott yelled back, turning to Derek and glaring.

"What happened?"

"At the party, he drove Allison home, and took her jacket! Then it shows up in her locker today!"

"Think about what could happen," Derek speaks up. "You're out on the field, the aggression takes over, and you shift into front of everyone!"

Scott started glaring at him, grounded teeth. Derek leaned down, picking up Scott's lacrosse stick. "Your Mom, all your friends, when they see you-" Derek pointed at him with the lacrosse stick, which makes Scott smack the lacrosse stick away from him. Derek rips the lacrosse stick net. "Everything falls apart."

"You know, you're much more dramatic now then you were on high school." Alec tells him.

Derek tossed the lacrosse stick into the air, Scott caught it. But, when the two brothers looked back at Derek, he was no longer there.

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ
Alec had tied Scott's bike to the back of his car, before telling Scott to hop into the passenger's seat.

"Why were you there?" Scott questioned.

"Like I said before," Alec replied. "Derek was in the same grade as me. We used to be friends."

Scott narrows his eyes. "You need to stay away from him. He's dangerous. There's a body on his property.  Probably the other missing half of the girl."

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ
Scott had said that he smelt blood on Derek's property. Stiles had ran up the steps, quickly, he shoved opened the door. "What did you find? How did you find it? Where did you find it? And, yes, I've had a lot of Adderall, so -"

"I found something at Derek Hale's," Scott interrupted.

"Are you kidding? What?" Stiles asked in disbelief.

"There's something buried there - I could smell blood," Scott announced.

Alec couldn't believe it, remembering how he and Derek would spend time together. And Derek never, ever hinted at a time or showed any signs of him being psychotic.

"That's awesome!" Stiles yelled, excitedly. Alec's head snapped to him, looking at him in disbelief. "I mean, that's terrible." Stiles corrects when he saw the looks he received. "Whose blood?"

"I don't know. But when we do, your dad nails Derek for the murder. And then you help me figure out how to play lacrosse without changing. Because there's no way I'm not playing that game," Scott stood up.

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ
At the hospital, Stiles gestured to the door that listed 'morgue'. "Good luck, I guess." Stiles tells Scott.

As Scott entered the morgue, both Alexander and Stiles walked towards the waiting room, leaning on the sign in desk. But, when Stiles looked to the side, he had flopped more onto the desk. "Oh, my god," He muttered

"What the fu-" Alec started, about to question the boy for his odd behavior. But, then he had caught sight of Lydia Martin. "Shit." He cursed again when Stiles began to walk towards the girl.

"Hey, Lydia," Stiles started. "You probably don't remember me. Um, I sit behind you in Biology. Uh, anyway, I always thought that we just had this kind of connection. Unspoken, of course. Maybe it'd be kind of cool to, get to know each other a little better."

She had turned, looking a bit confused in the beginning before a smile came over her face. She shifted her hair to be out of her face, removing a earpiece. "Hold on, give me a second." She looked at Stiles. "Yeah, I didn't get any of what you just said. Is it worth repeating?"

Alec placed a hand on the younger one's shoulder, dragging him backward. "No. Sorry. I'll just sit. You don't care."

"Don't worry. She doesn't know anybody or anything," Alec tried to comfort.

"You are awful at comforting people," Stiles looked at him, annoyed face.

Alec shrugged. "Yeah, I know. But, you know what they say, it's the thought that counts."

Alec pretended as if he wasn't listening in on Jackson and Lydia's conversation. "He said not to make a habit of it, but one cortisone shot won't kill me."

You should get one right before the game too. The pros do it all the time. You want to be a little high school amateur? Or - do you want to go - pro?" She had gotten close, pulling Jackson down for a kiss.

Alec made a disgusted face as he saw Stiles watching, slapping the other upside the head. Before he could do anything else, the newspaper was ripped from Stiles's hands. "The scent was the same," Scott announced to the two.

"You sure?" Stiles questioned.

"Yes."

"That's-what?" Alec questioned, disbelief. "he buried the other half of the body on his property?"

"Which means we have proof he killed the girl," Scott spoke again.

"I say we use it," Stiles began to walk away, which lead for the two to follow his footsteps. When Scott questioned how and Alec muttered that one of the two would be the death of him, mostly Stiles. Stiles ignored Alec, reaching a hand to stop Scott. "Tell me something first. Are you doing this because you want to stop Derek, or because you want to play in the game, and he said you couldn't?"

"There are bite marks on the legs, Stiles - bite marks."

Alec felt disgusted, he has known that it was a while since the two had seen each other, but, he didn't think that Derek would change this much. Be this horrible and disgusting.

"Okay. Then we're gonna need a few shovels," Stiles spoke.

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ

They are waiting for him to drive away, before they all hopped out of the vehicle and reached into the back to get a shovel for each of them. Alec had a gun tucked into the back of his jeans.

"Wait, something's different," Scott announced. The two questioned him on how if was different. Scott paused before answering. "I don't know. Let's just get this over with."

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ
Alec wasn't sure how Long as I have been digging with him but he was getting annoyed with how long it was taking.

"This is taking way too long." Scott says, thinking the same as his olde brother.

"Just keep going." Stiles ordered.

"What if he comes back?" Scott asked.

"Then we get the hell out of here."

"And if he catches us?" Alec questioned, raising an eyebrow. Stiles knew nothing about the gun in his waistband, not even that he owned a gun.

"I have a plan for that."

"What? Play dead?" Alec sarcastically joked.

"Which is?" Scott asked Stiles.

"You run one way. I run the other. Whoever he catches first, too bad." Stiles rolled his eyes.

"I hate that plan."

"And why way will I be running?" Alec questioned.

"Whichever way, you could seduc-wait, stop."

Alec didn't move to the ground as Scott and Stiles did. "Did you just suggest for me to seduce a serial killer?"

"You've dated one before," Stiles simply said as Scott told his to hurry up and untie them rope. "I'm trying," Stiles snapped at him. "Did he have to tie this thing in, like, nine hundred knots?"

"First off, he wasn't a serial killer." Alec speaks.

Scott had pushed Stiles away, saying how he was untie the rope, before he flipped the cloth off to reveal heys was underneath. Alec grabbed both Scott and Stiles by the back of their jacket's, pulling them up as all three moved backward.

"Holy shit!"

"What the hell is that?" Stiles yelled.

"It's a wolf," Scott answered.

"Yeah, I can see that. I thought you said you smelled blood, as in human."

"I told you something was different."

Stiles licked his lips. "This doesn't make sense."

"We gotta get out of here. Cover it up," Alec ordered.

As the three began to cover up the body, Stiles had suddenly stopped, twisting his head and focusing on something else. Scott and Alec questioned what he was looking at, making Stiles gesture to the flower. "You see that flower?"

Alec turned, examine it. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me."

"What is it?" Scott asked.

"I think it's wolfsbane," Stiles answered.

"It is." Alec confirmed.

"What's that?" Scott asked.

"Uh - Haven't you ever seen the Wolf Man?" Stiles inquired of.

"No."

"Lon Chaney Jr.? Claude Rains? The original, classic werewolf movie?" Alec listed. "I'm sure I called you down to watch it, once."

"No! What?"

"You are so unprepared for this," Stiles scoffed before he got up and jogged over to the flower.

"Stiles." Scott warned, not believing his friend. As Stiles lifted the plant off of the ground, ripping it, more rope appeared from beneath, tied to the plant. So, Stiles continued to pull the plant, a path being made out as he began to circle around the wolf body, until he ended up right back in front of it. He had kicked Alec when he didn't move out of his way.

"No. Oh, God!"
"Fuck!"
Both Scott and Alec yelped, standing up as the wolf body had turned into the upper half of a female's.

The face looked familiar to Alec, but he had turned away, shocked that the wolf body turns to a human's.

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ
Alexander did believe that people where reincarnated, that they had last lives. Because, he had to have some something in a past love to deserve this. Stiles Stilinski was stupid and careless is his own life. He muttered cursed as the younger boy had gotten into the police cursed holding Derek.

He was immediately right behind him, running up the other side of the door, and pulled it open before he hoped in. "How much of an idiot are you?"

Stiles, of course, ignored him, turning to Derek. " Okay, just so you know, I'm not afraid of you," Stiles said. "Okay, maybe I am. Doesn't matter. I just wanna know something. The girl you killed she was a werewolf. She was a different kind, wasn't she? I mean, she could turn herself into an actual wolf, and I know Scott can't do that. Is that why you killed her?"

"Why are you so worried about me when it's your friend who's the problem? When he shifts on the field, what do you think they're gonna do. Just keep cheering him on? I can't stop him from playing, but you can. And, trust me -" Derek leaned forward. "you want to."

At that moment, the door swung open. Stiles was pulled from the car. Alec gave a nervous and shy look at Derek, unsure of what to say to his former friend. He definitely didn't want to see the look on Noah-who he viewed as a father-would give him once realizing he had been part of the plan. He waved at Derek. "Hello."

Derek raised an eyebrow. "Alec-" He started, only to be interrupted by Noah.

"Alec, get out of the car," Noah ordered. Alec scrambled out of the car. "You lied."

Alec glared at Stiles before he turned to Noah. "If you give me a sarcastic answer Alexander Gatlin McCall-"

"Oh, he Full named you," Stiles laughed.

"Oh, really, M-" Alec started.

"Get the hell out of here," Noah ordered.

"Absolutely," Stiles agreed before ran off to Scott.

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ
"I can't find anything about wolfsbane being used for burial," Scott told the two, frustrated.

"Question, why am I stuck in the back?" Alec asked. "I'm the oldest."

Stiles ignored Alec. "Just keep looking. Maybe it's like a ritual or something, like maybe they bury you as a wolf. Or maybe it's like a special skill, you know? Like something you have to learn."

Alec exited out of the website that he had been using. "Yeah, I can't find anything either. Maybe it had to do something with respect?"

"He killed the girl," Stiles spared a glance at the oldest in the car.

"Still. Like, a higher lever of being a werewolf and you are buried-"

"Right now it doesn't matter!" Scott interrupted the two. "I have to figure out how the hell I'm playing this game tonight."

"Maybe it's different for girl werewolves," Stiles blurted, still in conversation with Alec.

"Okay! Stop it!" Scott snapped angrily. Both turned in question on what they needed to stop. "Stop saying "werewolves"! Stop enjoying this so much."

"Are you okay?" Stiles asked.

"No! No, I'm not. I'm so far from being okay."

Alec turned, heading the way his voice sounded strained, as if he was in pain. "Are you alright, Scotty?"

"You know, you're gonna have to accept this, Scott, sooner or later," Stiles told him, focusing on the road.

"I can't."

"Well, you're gonna have to."

"No! I can't breathe."

At those words, Alec's eyes widen, panicking. Scott should no longer have to use his inhaler. Scott's hand

"Why, what's happening?" Stiles questioned, Alec cursed as he he had searched the pockets. He no longer had Scott's asthma pump in his jacket.

"You kept it?" Alexander heard Scott question, angry.

"What was I supposed to do with it?" Stiles questioned again.

"Stop the car!" Scott yelled,  eyes flashing yellow, which had Stiles immediately stop the car, scrambling out of the car, throwing his backpack out of the car. Alec looked over at Stiles for a second, wanting to make sure the bag had been far enough. His head snapped when the door was slammed shut.

"Shit!"

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ

"Stiles, Alec, you both know that you can't call the dispatch line when I'm on duty."

"I just need to know if you've gotten any odd calls." Stiles responded.

"Odd how?" The operator questioned.

"Uh, like an odd person or - a dog - like individual roaming the streets."

"I'm hanging up on you now."

Stiles yelled to try and stop her from hanging up, but she did. Alec looked over Stiles. "Did you really expect for her to believe you after hearing what you said? I'm surprised she didn't hang up when she released it was you."

Stiles glared at Alec.

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ

Alexander has no clue what to do. He couldn't convince the boy to stop playing the game.
And he wasn't allowed in the locker room at the time as he wasn't a lacrosse player, and Coach called him.

Alec glared as Jackson scored. Everyone cheered, and he looked back. "Fuck."

The next round started, the two players fighting for the ball, the ball going in the air. Scott leaped into the air, jumping over two players as he caught it. Everyone jumped up and cheered.

"FUCK YES!" Alec yelled, as Scott made the goal. Coach Finstock yelled for everyone to pass the ball to Scott.

Then the opposing team passed the ball to Scott. On purpose. Alec turned his hand, biting into his wrist. Scott made the goal. Something must have had happened, that in my people on the field could have seen, as an argument burst between coach and the ref.

Scott continued to get the ball, the opposing team surrounding Scott swung the lacrosse stick, he made the goal at the last second.
Alec looked over when he heard Noah let out a sound of understatement.

"Dad, wants wrong?"
"Something wrong, Noah?"
The two asked. He lifted his hand, silently, asking for the two to be silent.

Ⓗⓨⓟⓝⓞⓣⓘⓒ

Stiles and Alec ran into the locker room, Alec immediately turning back around when seeing Scott and Allison kissing.
He hit Stiles when Stiles went back to look. "Disgusting. You. You're disgusting," Alec lowly said.

"Hey, Stiles, Alexander." Allison waved at the two.

Both  speaking awkwardly as they waved. They waited for her to leave, then walked up to their friend, who was smiling widely. "I kissed her."

"We saw." Stiles responded.

"She kissed me."

"Saw that too. It's pretty good, huh?" Stiles smiled.

"I-" Scott stammered over his words. "I- don't know but I controller it. I pulled it back." He smiled. "Maybe, I can do this. Maybe it's not that bad."

Okay, maybe tell him tomorrow. "Yeah. We'll talk later. Tomorrow." Alec and Stiles hit their friend, a playful one. Scott grabbed the twins, one should in each hand as he asked what was wrong.

"The medical examiner looked at the other half of the body we found." He paused, scratching his neck. "Medical examiner determines killer of girl to be animal, not human. Derek's human, not animal. He's out of jail."

"Are you kidding?"

Stiles continued. "No, and here's a bigger kick in the ass. My dad I.D.'d the dead girl. Both halves. Her name was Laura Hale."

"Hale?"

"She's Derek's sister." Alec said. "I knew she looked familiar. I just couldn't figure out why."
