Chapter 9

(A/N Happy New Years! 🎉 I know that its too late to say it but I was to lazy to post earlier 😛 Let's hope that this year is better than 2018.)

Maddilyn's POV

We all looked around, trying to pinpoint the source of the scream. It proves itself a challenge with the amount of screaming children in the area. Then we heard it again and Florence shot his head towards the direction of the bathrooms. We then saw a woman and a teenage boy, around 14 or 15. They seem to be in a staring contest, with the woman glaring at him and the boy trying to move past her while not looking at her. Aaron started to walk towards them. Me, Phoebe, and Florence looked at each other, deciding whether to follow him or not. We decided to follow him, using our best friend telepathy to communicate. I know, I know, I'm lame and weird. Don't judge me.

"What do you think your doing, young man, walking into the lady's restroom like that!" The woman started to say, her voice still raised. The boy started to stutter. "Um um, I-I- I'm sorry, m-ma'am. I-I thought it was the men's restroom." The boys voice came out in a low, hushed voice, only slightly louder than a strained whisper. Man, this kid's really nervous. "Really, now? There is clearly a sign that not only have a picture of a female, but under it says 'Women'. I highly doubt anyone could miss that." the women saying, staring at the boy and waiting for an answer. He stutters again, only the sound of "um" coming from his mouth.

By this time, our group of teenagers had moved closer and we're about 2 aisles away from the bathrooms. Suddenly, a security guard came out of no where, clearly trying to figure out the reason for the argument. The woman replied first, "This young man was in the lady's restroom. I didn't notice him until I went to wash my hands and noticed his reflection in the mirror in front of me. He was standing on the toilet bowl and raised his head to peek out ever so often." "Did he do anything else?" the guard gestured to the boy. "No, I don't think so." "Boy." The kid stood straight, as if in the presence of a military officer. "Boy, I'm now going to ask you your side of the story." Before the boy had a chance to say anything, Aaron ran to the boy's side, slinging an arm around his shoulder. "I'm sorry officer," he began, "and I'm sorry ma'am for the disorderly behavior this boy has exhibited. I'm his babysitter and I've been looking for him everywhere. By the way, thank you so much for finding him, although I wish he wasn't found in this way." Aaron sent a glare to the boy and talked as if he were the kids parent. "Now Jimmy, apologize to the man and lady." The boy just looked at Aaron as if he grew a third eye on his forehead. "Jimmy." Aaron repeated, with a more intimidating tone. "O-oh, um yeah," the boy turned his attention back to the 2 adults, "Sorry for walking into the girl's bathroom and causing trouble for the both of you." He tilts his head down in shame. "I will be sure to administer proper punishment to him later. Have a nice day, miss" he nodded his head towards the lady " and to you as well officer." nodding head to the guard.

Aaron drags the boy Jimmy(?) towards us, gesturing us to follow him. We followed him outside the arcade as he grasped Jimmy(?) by the back of his neck.

"What the hell is wrong with you Calvin? Why would you walk into the girl's bathroom?" Aaron said with a scowl on his face. Calvin? Who the hell is Calvin? I thought the kid's name was Jimmy. "It was an accident! The sign looked like a boy to me!"

" This is why I say you need new glasses. " Aaron just shakes his head in disapproval.

"Um, sorry, I don't mean to interrupt your conversation but..." I turn my head to the boy named Jimmy(?) or Calvin(?). Honestly, I don't even know anymore. "Who are you? Maybe I'm just slow but we only know that you're a friend of Aaron's, nothing else."

" Yeah, like is your name Jimmy or Calvin? " Pheobe added on, getting way too frustrated with knowing the kid's name.

Before the kid could reply, Aaron answered for him."Oh, this is Calvin. I came to the carnival with him. He's the one who dragged me here after class. "

Class? "Wait, class? You guys are classmates?" " Yep. "

Florence and Pheobe looked at Calvin. Pheobe walked over to the kid. She looked him in the eye. "How the hell is this kid your classmate? Aren't you a senior high school or something? How is a 14 year old your classmate?" Aaron just smiled as Calvin looked down, his face hidden away. Aaron held up 3 fingers. Then 2. Then 1.

"I AM NOT 14! I AM A 17 YEAR OLD WHO JUST HAPPENED TO NOT GET HIT BY GROWTH SPURTS YET!" Calvin's outburst left us stunned. Aaron was facing away from us, trying to his giggles and failing. Then Florence let his stupidity get the best of him and he decided to be an asshole. ( A/N Florence isn't actually stupid, he's pretty smart but can be a HUGE jerk from time to time) You know what he did? He laughed. Out loud. With no remorse and no attempts to hide it either. Like the jerk he is. I mentally face palmed. "Florence!" Pheobe said in a motherly and scolding tone. Florence looked down at her. "Yes, mother?" Florence laughed even more after saying that. She slapped his arm. Pheobe walked over to Calvin. "Sorry, Calvin. Florence is an asshole sometimes." She pointed to Florence ,who just stopped laughing but is now red due to his pale skin. "I'm Pheobe, and that's Maddilyn." She pointed to me and I waved at him.

" By the way" I started, "You guys said you were classmates and the only schools around here are an elementary school and a highschool. The other schools are pretty far from here."

" Oh yeah, me and Aaron go to the one near here, Cardale Highschool. "

"Its Aaron and I, Calvin. This is why you're barely passing English." Calvin thinks for a moment. " Well, you're not any better. You're barely passing history. And it's the easiest class."

Aaron's POV

Calvin continues. " Besides, no one likes a grammar whore. " I mentally laugh. The boy wants to play the insult game. Well I can play too.  I grab him in a choke hold. He has a habit of running away.

"First off, it doesn't matter what class we barely pass. If I were failing, then it would have been a much better insult. Second off, I like being a grammar whore. I'm applying what I learned in that God-awful class to real life. It's much better considering that I'm actually retaining the knowledge I gained instead of forgeting it all the minute I walk out of class. "

I squeeze on his neck a little. "Right?" I already know that he can hear the smirk on my face.

" Right. " Oh shit, he answered me. I done fucked up. I wanted to tease him not hurt him.

"Um,"

I feel someone to my shoulder and I look at them. It's Maddilyn.

"I think your hurting him. " I immediately let go of Calvin. I'm just fucking up non-stop today, aren't I?

" Shit. " I say under my breath. "You okay, Cal?" He nods his head. I look at my watch. It's pretty late. I bite my lip.

I turn around to face Maddilyn. "Um, we should probably get going. It was fun meeting you guys. Bye." I wrap my arm around Calvin's shoulder and lead him towards the exit, and start to walk him home.

(That did not turn out how I originally intended it to. I started with it, thinking it would end happy. Then I got Aaron choking Calvin out. Then I just went with it. Not sure how I feel about the ending, though.)
