Hyoga's New Car

Hyoga is excited about showing his boyfriend his newest acquisition, but Shun doesn't seem too eager about it...

"Okay, one more, watch your step... oops! Careful!"

"Is this really necessary? I almost kill myself!!"

Hyoga was behind Shun, with his hands covering the Japanese's green eyes, going down the stairs together. Hyoga wanted it that way, he wanted to surprise Shun.

"Ready???" the blond asked with excitement in his voice.

"I don't know... I'm not sure if I should be excited or scared..."

"I'll take that as a yes... Ta-da!" Hyoga declared as he uncovered his boyfriend's eyes.

"Wow..."

Shun was... confused and unimpressed. He had no idea what to expect when Hyoga arrived at their apartment all jolly and hyped-up; but he certainly wasn't expecting... that.

A dazzling bright red convertible car was parked in front of their building.

"Aaaaaand?" Hyoga asked, still enthusiastic about the whole thing.

"It's... well... I mean... it's a car..." Shun answered, he wasn't sure what Hyoga intended by bringing this thing into their lives.

"Yeah! But it's like the coolest car on the whole planet! Haha! Seiya will be sooooo jealous when he finds out!"

"Ducky..." Hyoga turned to his boyfriend's call, stepping out of his amusement for a while. "This... thing... is rented, right????" Shun inquired fearing the answer.

Hyoga paled, he was just getting Shun didn't share his enthusiasm for the vehicle.

"Well... I... I thought... we... you... I mean..." the blond stuttered.

"You bought it!?!?!?!" Shun snapped.

"No!" Hyoga lied. "Well... yes..." he added with caution. "Ok! Fine! Yes! I bought her! But look at her! She's a beauty!!!"

"Her?" Shun arched an eyebrow.

"Come on dude! Just give her a chance! One ride and you'll be bedazzled by her too!" Hyoga grabbed Shun's arm, to keep him from leaving.

"Look... dude..." Shun grumbled, "You just spent our life savings and my tuition fee for med school!"

"No! You are wrong!" Hyoga defended naively, "I didn't touch your tuition!" Shun gave him an unimpressed look.

"Oh! I see, in that case we'll just starve for the next month..."

"Let me explain, okay Shunny?" Shun shifted position, acknowledging Hyoga. "I received this massive tip the other day at the pub, this man was super drunk and really really loaded, and the..."

"You want me to believe that you bought this car with a tip?" Shun interrupted.

"Let me finish, love. Alright, then my mom sent me some money because she thinks college life in this apartment sucks; and finally, Ikki called the other day while you were in class to say he'll try to help you with some expenses, and would send a check shortly."

"So you took nii-san's money?!" Shun screamed, alarmed.

"No, but that, plus my mom's money, plus the big tip, encouraged me to take our savings to complete the amount to purchase this beauty." Hyoga pointed at the car. "Basically, I replaced our savings with Ikki's check. And remember how much you wanted a car so we didn't have to commute in buses and subways?!"

"Yeah! But I meant a normal car! Not this 'Greased Lighting'!!!!"

Hyoga's excited and positive look turned into a more disconsolated and heartbroken one. At the sight of this, Shun recognized he had been a little too harsh on his boyfriend, and immediately softened his gaze.

"I'm sorry... I'll... I'll return it tomorrow..." Hyoga apologized. Shun sighed, it broke his heart to see his boyfriend so disappointed.

"But... I suppose we do need a car, even if it's extravagant..." Hyoga turned his eyes towards Shun, a light of hope shining in them. "I guess a ride won't hurt... right?"

At that moment, Hyoga hugged Shun with all his force, his excitement had returned.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! You won't regret it, baby. I promise!"

Hyoga opened the door for Shun, and as his boyfriend got inside, he set himself at the wheel.

"Alright! Ready?" the blond asked as he turned the car on.

"Hai!" Shun replied.

Needless to say, Hyoga's enthusiasm and amusement showed in his driving as well. He started to acquire speed; at one moment he was going so fast, that Shun had to hold on as best as he could, as the air moved his long green hair wildly.

"Woo-hoo!! Don't you love her??" Hyoga yelled happily.

"Hyoga-chan... could you slow down, please?" Shun proposed, a little bit nervous.

"C'mon Shunny! Don't you feel the need???" Hyoga turned to Shun, expecting him to complete the phrase.

"Hyoga, don't..." Shun answered.

"The need for speed!!!!!!!!!" Hyoga finished, proudly.

After a while, Shun started to actually enjoy the ride, especially because all the pedestrians that they encountered had only nice and cool things to say about the car and the people inside of it.

"Okay... I give up, you were right... It is a nice car, and money well spent." Shun acknowledged with a shy smile.

"Told you you will love her..."

"I still won't call the car a she, alright?"

Hyoga laughed. But Shun's positivity and Hyoga's joy weren't meant to last. Just as they were enjoying the moment, a police vehicle made its siren sound and turned the lights on, indicating Hyoga to pull over.

"Oh..." the Russian expressed.

"I'm not liking this..." Shun replied, feeling anxious.

"Don't worry, it's probably nothing..." Hyoga tried to ease his boyfriend.

"You do have a driving license... right, ducky??" Shun inquired, begging with his eyes for a positive response from his partner.

"Ammmmm..." Hyoga began to sweat. He clearly didn't have a license.

"What the hell Hyoga!!!" Shun complained. "I wanted a car to take us to college and fun destinations, NOT JAIL!?!?!"

"Calm down, Shun, I'll fix it." Hyoga said, confidently. But he wasn't fooling anyone. "I guess we can use Ikki's check to pay the bail."

Shun gave him a rather infuriated look, uncommon in the Japanese.

"Do you know at what speed you were driving, sir?" the officer asked Hyoga. The pair didn't reply, they just limited themselves to stare hopelessly at the police officer.

"May I see your license, please?"

"Next time, I'll drive..." Shun scolded Hyoga, as they were both waiting in the precinct for Ikki to arrive and get them out of the mess.

Sorry, it took me a while to update this story, but between my other fics and the lack of inspiration, I couldn't bring myself to write this chapter until now.

I inspired this in the Monster's Inc. short where Mike buys a car, haha, in case it looked familiar to you.
