Chapter 20

I felt the cold water embrace my whole body. I took a few seconds too look around. The pool was actually.... pretty. Not long, I tired to fight my up to the surface. I kicked around, and swung my arms around trying to come up for a least a breath of air.  I was reliving it. That moment about eight years ago. I wanted to cry as the thoughts of both the water right now and back then haunted me. I couldn't couldn't believe this was happening to me again. Again. Chlorinated water filled my throat, and I had to swallow it in order to breathe. I coughed hard. And when I had those few seconds to spare for breath, I didn't call for Gabriel. I didn't call for Raphael. I didn't call for Dad. With all my strength, and every source of power I had left... I screamed: "DEAN!"

It wasn't long after that when my body finally gave out. Not once did Lucifer tried to jump in after me. I don't even think he was still in the room. I fell slowly to the bottom of the pool. The last thing my eyes saw, was the locket. It was open; and I saw the picture of Dean and I. You can say it's impossible all you want, but I felt my warm tears forming under the water. To just save myself from anymore pain, I coughed out the last bit of breath I had left. And my eyes began to lose focus. Before I knew it, just like that day, everything went black.

"Cas!" I heard my name.

How is that possible? I thought I was...

"Cas!" I heard my name again. I tried to speak, but all that came out was water. I coughed up a lot. "Oh god! Thank god! You're okay!" I opened my eyes and rubbed them. I looked up to green eyes.

"Dean...?" I coughed, gasping lightly for air.

"Yeah." He chuckled hysterically. "Yeah Baby. It's me." I could feel his hand on my cheek, brushing the water off my face with his thumbs.

"You came back for me...?" I whispered, my chest hurting, and my nose clogged. He scoffed.

"Castiel.... I love you." He replied, smiling at me. Tears fell from my eyes as I coughed a smile. "What the hell we're you thinking jumping off the diving board?"

"Lucifer..." I stared, swallowing hard, stammering. "He grabbed my necklace.... and dangled it over the board...."

"What?" He huffed. "What necklace...?" I opened up my hand to reveal the chain and locket.

"My Christmas present..." I coughed again. He grabbed it from my hand and stared at it.

"You still have it...?" He looked up to me, his green eyes beginning to water.

I nodded.

"No matter how hard I tried Dean..." I cried. "You were so hard to forget..." I forced a chuckle. Tears fell from his eyes. The first time I hear or see him cry. "I love you Dean..."  He smiled and sat me up to hug me. He held me tight, and with love. I missed them, I missed them so much. His warmth, his smell, his body. I hugged him back, burying my face in his shirtless chest. He pulled back.

"I'm so glad I came out when I did... I was going to jump in the pool first before everyone else."  He stroked my damp hair. "I could have lost you."

"It was all Lucifer's fault..."

"I know."  He looked to the side, gritting his teeth. "I'm going to beat the shit out of that son of a bitch." He muttered under his breath.

"Dean, please... Don't cause anymore attention." I asked, my voice soft.

"He almost killed you!" He raised his voice.

"But you saved me..."

"And if I wasn't here?" He locked eyes with me. I stared into both of them. He was holding onto me tightly, his hands gripping my arms.

"Dean..."

"Be careful little fish."He whispered. I sighed and looked to the ground.

Wait.

Wait.

WAIT.

I picked up my head and looked at him, my hands grabbed his arms tightly. I huffed in disbelief. I wanted to speak, but nothing came out of my mouth.

"Well, well, well! Look who we have here!" Lucifer's voice entered the room. He walked over, clapping sarcastically. "I was here the whole time, and I have to say, that. Was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen." He wiped his eyes like of he was crying.

"Lucifer! You think this was funny!? He could've drowned!" Dean stood up and yelled. I rolled over.

"Dean..! Wait!" My throat still felt strained from the water.

"I thought it was hilarious!" Lucifer laughed cruelly. He got my blood boiling. Dean walked over, and slammed him up against the wall, hard. Lucifer hit the back of his head.

"You think it's funny? Huh? You think it's funny?" He held Lucifer back by his throat, using his arm. "You think it's absolutely amusing that you almost killed an innocent boy?!" Dean was mad. His back and fists were tense, like he was ready to attack. I tried to get up, but my legs weren't cooperating with me. I crawled over to a nearby bench and used it to pick myself up.

"Oh Dean. Why are you wasting your time on that pathetic thing you call boyfriend?" Lucifer sighed, like if he was annoyed. "You could move onto something a lot better. Maybe something without a penis?"

"Shut up! You have no right it speak!" Dean slapped him. I flinched as the sound echoed in the room.

"Oh! Yes! Hit me harder Dean!" Lucifer taunted. Dean was so frustrated and angry, he tightened his fist and just started to beat down on Lucifer. The other laughed, like it was a huge game; which only mad Dean's rage grow. I finally got to stand, and I stumbled over to him, trying to pull him back.

"Dean! Stop it!" I begged for him to look at me. But he kept at it. Lucifer had blood coming out of his nose and lip, and he started to have bruises appear.

"YOU SON OF A BITCH! YOU ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT CASTIEL IS!" Dean screamed, just taking it all out of Lucifer's face. I cut in between them, and tried to push Dean back.

"Dean! Stop! Please! Look at me!" I grabbed his cheeks and made him face me. He panted heavily, sweat falling from his brow, and his eyes outraged. I began to cry again, just looking at what a monster he could become. "Dean... calm down... please."

"Cas ..." he said through his pants, as they became softer, and he started to relax. I nodded and forced a smile.

"Yes, please Dean, calm down. I'm okay. I'm safe. You saved me. Alright? You saved me." I stammered, tears  falling from my eyes. Dean wrapped his arms around me, hiding his face in my shoulder. I glanced at Lucifer, who was bleeding and passed out on the tile floor. We stood there for a minute. Then i whispered in his ear, "Dean... can I ask you something...?"

"Hm?" Responded as he looked up to me, and rested his forehead on mine. I sighed, not ready to talk.

"About e-eight y-years ago..." I started, fighting back any more tears. "D-Did you ever happen to b-be by a l-lake...?" He looked into my eyes, his expression like he was searching through a long lost box.

"I.... I don't recall..."

I looked down, my tears taking the best of me. I weeped softly. "At a lake! There was a boy drowning at a lake! Did you see him?" I looked up to him. He stared at nothing, lost in thought. Then he came back to me.

"Yes... I did. I was ten." He replied. "I saw him drowning.... and he was crying for help." I smiled, finally hearing answers. "I was walking around that day... and i heard his cry. I ran out of the trees until I came up to that body of water... and I saw him splashing around, fighting to breathe...."

I nodded, pleading for him to continue.

"I stood there, to see if anyone was going to help..... but-- then he just stopped-- and I saw him get eaten by the water."  He added, looking up to me.

"Oh my god." I said under my breath, covering my mouth with my hand.

"But then I jumped in... and I swam over...." Dean said, everything in the memory finally getting put together. "And I dove underwater, and picked him up to the surface, hoping he would get more air...." He held his head. "Automatically I swam back to the shore, where I lay him down on the ground. I did my best to perform CPR.... but he didn't move."

I closed my eyes tightly, just listening to his story.

"Suddenly, he started coughing. I was so relieved that he was alive....." Dean smiled as he looked off to the side, remembering that day. "I thought he died on me... and asked him what he was thinking... and he did nothing but cough and apologize. His voice so soft and innocent...."  He looked at me. "Why do you want to know this?"

"Oh my god, Dean...." I cried tears of joy. I grabbed him by the face and kissed him deeply. He returned it, holding my sides.

He pulled back, "Castiel? What is it?"  I laughed through my sobs, I was full of disbelief.

"Dean.... I was that little boy..." I replied. His eyes widened as he stared at me. "I  fell into that lake.... I  was drowning in the water.... I was the one you saved!" I said, stroking his cheeks with my hands. "You saved my life eight years ago!"

"Oh my fucking God..." He stuttered. His own eyes beginning to cry. "That was y-you?"

"Yes!" I embraced him tightly, sobbing into his shoulder. "Thank you! I never got to thank you for what you did!" I cried, muffled by his body. He didn't reply anything. He wrapped his arms around me, hugging me to the tightest as possible. I could feel his warm tears on my neck. And the flinching of his chest as he continued to cry.

"Oh my God! Oh my fucking God!" He sobbed, his fingers gripping onto my trenchcoat. We stood there crying as the team finally came out into the pool area. Some of the girls screamed as they saw Lucifer bloody and on the floor. They rushed to his side as others walked up to us and asked what happened. We ignored them, just caring about us. About our discovery.

I did it.

I finally found my savior.

My Dean. My Dean Winchester: junior, captain of the swim team, beautiful, and my boyfriend... was my savior all this time.

Was it destiny? Was it fate?

I don't care....

The savior of my life, became the love of my life.
