Chapter 11

I jumped, and woke myself. I looked around to find myself alone, and still in Dean's room. I sat up, rubbing my eyes. Oh. I left my glasses at my house. Shit. I slid out of bed to stand, but i forgot they were bandaged. So I fell to the floor.

"Owwww... " I groaned, picking myself up. I decided to crawl my way out. I crawled out onto the hallway, searching for either Sam or Dean. Hen I crawled to the living room. Nobody. I heard some clanking dishes in the kitchen. Ah. They must be there.

"Dean!" I called out for him. Seconds later, he stepped into the living room. He looked down to me, a laughing smile on his face.

"What are you doing? Now you're a Kitty in a Trenchcoat?" He chuckled. I gave an awkward laugh in return. He picked me up from the ground and sat me down at the kitchen table, next to Sam, who was eating Fruity Pebbles. He smiled while his mouth was full.

"Good morning Sam." I replied, giggling. He chewed what he had in his mouth and swallowed hard.

"Morning Cas!" He exclaimed. His hair was messy, so he must have just gotten out of bed.  He was wearing pajamas that had Star Wars characters all over it.

"Do you want to eat something?" Dean asked me, resting his hand on the table, putting his weight against it. I thought. I didn't feel hungry. I didn't know  how I felt actually.

"N-No... I'm fine." I answered. "If you have some orange juice I'll take some of that..." I added, trying not to sound anorexic. Dean replied with an okay.

"Cas! Cas!" Sam called out to me. I faced him.

"Yes?"

"Are you going to stay here?" He asked so curiously. He reminded me of myself when I was younger. Always asking questions.

"I think so... maybe." I replied.

"Okay, well if you're gonna stay here, I've got a couple of ground rules you need to follow." Sam said. I could hear Dean scoff in the back.

"Okay... Humor me."  I smiled.

"First of all, you gotta love to eat. We love to eat." Sam pointed out, glancing at Dean who was nodding his head, agreeing.

"Yeah, I guess. I like different foods, but I won't eat too much..."

"Acceptable." Sam put another scoop of cereal in his mouth. "Second, we have to play games every weekend." He chewed.

"I'll try my best..." I said. I never really played video games. Gabriel hogged the system into is room.

"Last an not least... Do you watch Star Wars?" He asked, squinting his eyes.

"Yes, actually. All of them."

"Prove it! What does Darth Vader's name mean?"

"Well, 'Darth' means 'dark'. And the word 'Vader' was driven off the word 'Vater'. Vater means 'father' in German. So basically Darth Vader's name means 'Dark Father'." I answered fully. Sam was silent for a moment, he looked impressed. Then he turned to Dean.

"Hey Dean, is gay marriage legal in this state?" He asked bluntly. "I approve this one."

"SAM!" Dean yelled back, his cheeks reddening. "Go brush your teeth or something you little embarrassment!" He ordered. Sam hopped off his chair and ran out of the room and down the hallway laughing. Again. I could hear Dean muttering under his breath. I couldn't help but giggle over his reactions. He walked over, a glass of orange juice in his hand. After he handed it to me, I took a long sip out of it. Then I set it on the table. Dean sat in the chair on opposite side of me. I scooted my chair over to him, and climbed onto his laps. He held me around my waist as I rested my weary head  against his chest. He kissed the top of my head as he rubbed my shoulder and neck.

"You're brother is adorable..."  I whispered, smiling small. I could hear Dean's chuckle through his chest.

"Yeah... but after a while he's a pain in the ass." Dean replied.  I laughed softly, coughing a bit afterwards.

"Are you really okay with me staying here?" I questioned. I still felt like a burden to him.

"Yeah. You're no trouble." He brushed my hair with his fingers. "It's just me and Sam, we could use a little company."

"You're here by yourselves?"

"Mhm. I pick up Sammy after school and then I take him to my workplace. I know a few things about cars, so I have a part-time job as a mechanic. I make some money, the rest usually comes from our old friend Bobby."

I was left speechless. Here I am, on Dean Winchester's lap, and he works hard to stabilize the lives of not just himself, but his little brother too. And now me. I felt so bad. I couldn't imagine how tired and stressed he might be, with the team, and with his job.... He has his brother to care for, and now I come in at a random time and ask him to take care of me? I felt so ashamed.

"I'm sorry Dean."  I muttered.

"What? Sorry for what?"  He asked, his voice sounding confused.

"You work so hard, for the team, and at your job," My  voice started to break as tears started to fall from my eyes. "I can't even think about how tired you are everyday... and I just show up and practically demand for you to take care of me too....." I cried.  I could feel him pick me up, and sit me up correctly. I looked down, weeping softly. I could feel him raise my chin so that I could look at him in the eyes. Those luminous green eyes. Then he leaned into me, and gave me a gentle kiss. His lips were soft, and warm, and he tasted like orange juice. He pulled back to look at me again.

"Baby, don't you dare cry in this house..." He started. "I would do anything... anything... to take care of you. No matter what. Even if I have to work more, sleep or eat less, I'll do anything, to make sure you keep that beautiful smile across your face, and those lovely blue eyes sparkling... Because honestly, that's all I really need." He finished, a small smile growing.

"Dean...."  I said, my heart touched. I couldn't believe it. Everyday he made me question if this was reality, if he actually loved me. Me. And he was sure to make me realize it.

"I love you, Castiel." He whispered into my ear as our foreheads touched.

That's it.

I didn't want to be a Novak.

Not at all.

I knew what I wanted to be.

I wanted to be a Winchester.
