sans pov

We all stood there hugging gem. I felt gems arms fall limp, everyone broke the hug and backed away looking scared. Gems arms wrapped back around me as she nuzzled her face into my shoulder. something in my mind told me that she was asleep, which took me by surprise because she was still standing up. I took a step back and her knees buckled, now leaving me to take on her entire body weight. Gem is actually surprisingly light, I actually felt her ribs up against my back. her arms dangled in front of me as she rested on my back. I got curious as to why we've never seen her arms before, I used my magic to roll up her sleeves to see a bunch of scars that range from her wrist, up her arm, and I can only guess that there are scars on her back too. she shifts her arms when I tried to trace my finger along her scars. I decided that it wasn't a good idea. I pulled the sleeves back over her arms carefully, undyne thought it would be a good idea to lift her sweater to see the lower half of her back. she cringed and shivered a little, and that says something coming from undyne. undyne put her sweater back down and said "lets not tell gem that we saw that", I think that she will find out eventually, but it seems like a good idea to keep it between us for now. I nodded in agreement and continued to walk back to the house. We eventually arrived back at the house, I set gem on the couch and sat down next to her. I turned on the tv and kept the volume low for gems sake. I herd alphys say "o-oh m-my gosh! I-I'm so s-sorry mettaton" followed by the sound of metal crashing together. I grinned a little and looked over at gem. I wondered what she was still hiding about her past, maybe she didn't want us to pity her or something. As I thought about it, my eye sockets began to feel heavy, soon, I was fast asleep.

I woke up in a yard with a house in front of me. The house looked really torn up, having broken windows and pieces of glass and wood littered around the floor. I looked around and saw that there was a swing set that could seat 4 people. The two middle ones were broken, the one farthest to the right had one of the two chains broken and the other one looked beaten up. I decided to stop looking and go inside the poor looking house. When I walked inside, I was taken by surprise when I saw thousands of doors. I walked along the path that led to a long hallway. As I walked down the hallway, I herd a mix of voices, most belonging to gem. I saw another hallway that had a sign that had a heart on it. It looked pretty promising, so I went in. I opened a random door and saw gem when she was around 8 years old with a boy that looked around 6 years old. He had light brown short hair that was spiked up, and ocean blue eyes. Gem said "let's play this game ruby" while holding up Tetris. The boy known as ruby looked at the game and said "but it's a single player game, how are we supposed to play it together?". Gem thought for a moment and then said "how about we take turns, then whoever gets the higher score in the end wins". Ruby responded "ok but if I win, you have to sing at the schools talent show next week", gem then said "ok, but if I win, you have to give me a piggy back ride whenever I want for the rest of the day". they shook hands and said "deal" in unison. just then, another door opened. I looked over at it and saw gem sitting in front of a tv with a game remote in her hands looking very focused on the game. I see the screen and see that pieces are falling down the screen pretty fast. I see that she is at level 7, she was about to make it to level 8 when all of the pieces stacked up and she lost. she looked frustrated, but proud of herself. then she handed the remote to ruby and let him have his go. as the time passed, gem slowly gave a look of awe and disbelief. I saw the screen and he was on level 10. the pieces start to fall down faster and faster, before we knew it, he was at level 12. he was about to make it to level 13 when everything stacked up, ending the game for him. ruby said "I think we both know who won", gem sighed and hung her head down, sighing in defeat. then, the door closed. I watched a few more memories of gems brother, I then opened a door and saw gem standing on a stage with a microphone in her hand. the spotlight made it difficult for her to even look at the audience. I think this was the talent show that her brother was talking about. Gem looked like a nervous wreck, but she took a deep breath and said "before I start, I want to make a shout out to my mom and brother for supporting me and helping me come up with the song...". Then gem began to sing with the most angelic voice that ever came out of an 8 year old. She sang "lets go in the garden, you'll find something waiting. Right there where you left it lying upside down, when you finally find it. You'll see how it's faded, the other side is brighter when you turn it around, everything stays. Right where you left it, everything stays, but it still changes. Ever so slightly, daily and nightly. In little ways, everything stays", then she repeated the same line. Once the verse was over, she stopped singing. There was a wild applaud, gem blushed in embarrassment and walked off stage. Little did she know that her mom and brother were waiting for her backstage. She was tackled in a hug by her brother and her mom stood there with a bunch of hot pink roses in her hand. Ruby then said "gem that was awesome!", gem then replied "I couldn't have done it without you guys supporting me". My non-existent heart melted when she said that. Gem was so close to her family, my one question was 'where was her dad?'. As if gem read my mind, she looked around and asked "where's daddy?". Her moms facial expression saddened as she said "he... didn't want to come honey, sorry", gem looked down at the ground with a sigh. Her mom walked over to her and lifted her head up and said "tell you what, how about we get you some ice cream as a reward for doing so well. My treat", gems face lit up with excitement. Gem nodded furiously when they asked if she wanted ice cream, it was really cute actually. Then, the door closed as another door opened. Gem and her mom were in the front seats if the car and her brother was taking a nap in the back. Gem and her mom were talking about where they should go for ice scream and what flavor they would get. Once they made their decision, gem turned on the radio. A catchy song came on and both her mom and gem started dancing to the song. They were both laughing and giggling until a big truck known as a semi came charging at them. That laughing turned to screaming as they collided with the other vehicle. The whole left side of the car was destroyed, and pieces of the right side of the car were scattered across the asphalt. Gem was laying in the ground with her wings around her, her wings unfolded and she looked around. I felt my non-existent heart sink into my chest as I watched her look around. She said "mom?", no response. "Ruby?", the a piece of metal fell revealing rubies body. Gem saw this and crawled over to him as fast as she could, when she got to him, she began to hold him against her. She stroked his hair forward and he woke up, I then noticed a piece of glass in his stomach. Ruby looked up and said with a weak voice "gem?", gem said "yes?". Ruby said "please.... never, stop, singing", and he fell limb. Gem said "ruby?.... Ruby?!", she realized that ruby was dead. She sobbed for around half a minuet before pulling herself together and looking for her mom. She eventually found her on the ground, just as dead as her brother. What honestly struck me as sad was the fact that her brother died in her arms. Sure, papyrus has died in many timelines, but he has never died in my arms like that. Gem broke down in the wreck, broken glass was everywhere, but her heart was now more broken than the pieces of glass that lay around her. I felt tears prick my eye sockets as the door closed. Another door opened all on its own, it showed gem and a man with black eyes and white pinpricks as pupils like my eyes. He pins gem against a wall and yelled "it's all your fault! If wouldn't have sang in that stupid talent show none of this would've happened!", gem then said "but the semi was the thing that hit us. It swerved out of the lane and ran into us". Gem was then slapped across the face hard, the man yelled "don't you dare talk back to me! No daughter of mine ever talks back to me like that. You were the one who was distracting your mom from the road! She would still be alive if you weren't being such a brat". Gem was then thrown against the wall, she said "dad, please don't do this". As her beat and kicked her, she began to cry on pain. Her wings began to close around her in defense. Her dad stopped and grabbed her arm, dragging her down the steps. Gems ears were down in fear and her tail was tucked between her legs. Her dad grabbed light pink sleeves and put them over her now folded wings making her wings unable to extend. Then, her dad used his magic to throw gem down the hall. Gem crashed into the wall and fell to the floor now unconscious. Her dad then chuckled darkly at gems now limb body. He started walking toward her and something in me went crazy. I tried to run through the door, but there was an invisible wall keeping me out. I started pounding on the wall trying to get through as gems dad came closer. I realized that I wasn't getting anywhere close to being able to save her. He grabbed gem by her shirt and said "I'm going to have a lot of fun with you". I no longer wanted to see this, I backed away and closed the door. I walked down the hallway hearing gems screams and pleas for mercy. I cringed and walked out of the hallway. When I looked at the sign at the end of the hallway, it showed a broken heart. I sighed and looked for other memories. I saw a hallway that had the sound of many familiar voices. I walked down it and began opening doors, I saw gem helping papyrus with his spaghetti, I saw gem eating toriels pie. I saw undyne and gem rough housing in the backyard. I also saw what an aura looks like, I saw all of our auras. Papyrus' was orange and was innocent and childlike in every way. Mine was blue and calm, but can turn in an instant to protect the ones I love. Undynes aura was green, and has a violent outside, but the core of her aura is actually very caring. Toriels aura was purple, and has a caring motherly feel. Frisks aura was red, determined to make others happy and help. I noticed that asgores and mettatons aura were not there, I guess gem hasn't gotten to them yet. I start to feel myself fade, I look at my hands and legs to see that they are fading. A voice said "don't worry, she is only waking up", I calmed down and let myself fade.

My eye sockets open to see gem staring at me in her cat form. It took me a minuet to realize that I was in gems mindscape. I was curious as to how I got there in the first place, then there was a voice in my head saying "I let you in sans.... I guess now you know that I can send telepathic messages to people huh. Now you know how I can make people go insane, don't worry, I won't make you go insane. It takes to much energy for one and two, I would only do it to people who would hurt you, papy, tori, undyne, alphys, or frisk" I sigh in relief and see papyrus in the kitchen making spaghetti.
