Lucille - Christmas eve... and mistletoe?!
I had been helping mom with the ornaments, my uncles just making fun of our height while drinking away at their eggnog. Annabelle was holding the box while we took the ornaments out. It was a family tradition to put ornaments on the tree on Christmas eve.
I picked up two really old but ordinary ones, glancing at my mom. She nodded her head, already knowing what exactly it was I was planning. With two swift throws, the ornaments went flying through the air and hit them both smack dab in the forehead before shattering. I let out a laugh at the sight of the two with shards stuck on them everywhere.
All of a sudden the doorbell rang, causing me to rush down the steps of the small step ladder I had been on. I ran over towards the door, pushing the hair out of my eyes before opening the door and grinning when I saw Cade standing there with a couple of small, wrapped boxes in his hands.
I immediately took the boxes from him, wrapping my free arm around him in a hug. "Hey Cade, it's good to see you." I said, kissing his cheek before pulling away. Quickly, I moved out of the way so he could walk inside before shutting the door behind him.
Cade looks around the house and smiles, turning to look at me with a grin replacing the smile. "Your house is nice, a lot better than my own house." He says, walking with me towards the living room where my mom, uncles, and cousin were still at.
Uncle Lennox and uncle Epps noticed Cade, and they were instantly rushing over to bug him with tons of questions and making sure he wasn't just pretending to be my friend to get in my pants.
I simply just rolled my eyes and walked back over to the tree, stepping up on the ladder and helping with the ornaments once more. I stood on my tip toes and hung a santa one high up in the tree, grinning at how it looked before stepping back down once more.
The next thing I knew, I was thrown over someones shoulder and they were running down the hall towards the back door. It turned out that uncle Epps was carrying me over his shoulder with uncle Lennox following quickly, and Cade was rushing after us to me from the 'villains' who had 'kidnapped' me.
I laughed and looked back at Cade, winking playfully at him. "Help me! Oh help me, my knight in shining armor!" I yelled back at Cade, hearing him burst into laughter as he ran to try and catch up to us and save me.
Uncle Epps ran out the back door, tripping over a rather large rock and sending me flying. The next thing I knew, I was being safely caught in a pair of arms that made me feel like... no harm would ever come to me, that they would do anything to protect me.
I look up at my savior with my cheeks feeling slightly warm, my brown eyes meeting red eyes that I knew belonged to Cade. I grinned sheepishly up at him, leaning up and kissing his cheek softly. "Thanks Cade."
His cheeks instantly went red, causing a giggle to escape my lips. "Your welcome Lucy. Let's get you inside." He says, walking back inside with a whining uncle Epps and a laughing uncle Lennox following us.
All of a sudden, my uncles had stopped us in the doorway causing Cade to look at them with a confused look written all over his face. I looked up when my uncle Lennox pointed up, a matching smirk on both his and uncle Epps' faces.
My eyes widened and my cheeks warmed up a lot, when I finally saw the mistletoe. Of course my mom had decided to put the mistletoe up while I was being carried out the door and rushed after.... Thanks mom.
Red eyes met my own brown eyes, and I could see the faint blush on his cheeks as well. "Let's just go ahead and get this over with." he mumbles quietly, leaning in and kissing my cheek softly.
"That doesn't count lover boy, and you know it!" My uncle Lennox instantly yelled, giving us a both a look which made us both half-heartedly glare back at him.
My brown eyes met his red ones again, and this time I leaned in and softly kissed his lips with my own. The kiss... it felt so, so.. wonderful. I found my arms wrapping themselves around his neck, which he pulled me closer to him in return as he kissed me back.
The next thing I knew, my mother saw the two of us kissing and instantly threw a wooden spatula at us. She had aim like grandpa Ratchet, I swear, because it hit Cade, bounced off the wall, then hit me in the head as well.
I blushed as I quickly pulled away, glaring over at my mother. "Mom!" I yelled, Cade setting me down on my feet and smiling sheepishly at me. "Sorry." We both said at the same time, our cheeks only resulting in blushing darker.
