Such a mischievous and reckless prince you were forced to take care of. Reiji made it clear that he didn't need a babysitter, but the Queen back in Arion made it even more clear that he did. Your job was to look after him and protect him, a prince was always in danger, right?
Reiji was such a dunce, he'd constantly argue with you back home, and never listen to a word you said. Even still, the Queen trusted you were the best person for the job. Now that Reiji had suddenly gone missing, you were sent to Earth to follow after him, and find the little brat.
It took a while, and at about sundown, you finally found him. He was sitting with a blue haired boy, possibly around his age. They were chatting up a storm, and drinking a soda - of course you had to know about all this Earth stuff to be a good knight. You weren't rude enough to barge in and drag Reiji into the dirt, so you kept your distance behind a tree and just watched carefully. Reiji seemed happy with the other male, maybe they became fast friends.
The red head finally stood up and handed someone to the other boy, then was off after tossing his can of soda into the trash; good. As nonchalant as possible, you stepped into view and approached the prince, tapping him on the shoulder to get his attention.
"Wha-! Oh great, so you're here too, huh?" The male huffed in annoyance, crossing his arms and frowning. You only smiled at him.
"It's my job to take care of you, Prince Reiji." Politely, you responded, lacing your fingers innocently behind your back.
"Ahh! There you go again, with all that prince crap! Just give it a rest, [Y/n]! Gimmie a break!" The red head threw a tantrum, this was normal, you were used to it. You passed an apologetic smile at the confused blue haired boy - you made note to thank him later for getting Reiji out of whatever trouble he shoved his nose in. Reiji was such a handful, even for people he just met two seconds ago.
"I'm- afraid I can't do that. I'm here to escort you back home." Formality came natural to you, something that Reiji would never understand - but you didn't blame him. He was a rowdy troublemaker teen, just looking for fun and excitement. There was nothing wrong with that, so you never scolded him for running off. You'd just find him, make sure he was okay, then take him back home safely. The Queen apprehended you for that.
"Yeah, well I'm not ready to go back yet. Give it a couple days." Reiji scoffed, shoving his hands in his pockets and storming off. As expected. A few moments later, you followed suit.
You quietly walked behind the grumpy boy, uninterested in whatever he was mumbling under his breath to himself. The streets were rather empty, but Reiji turned down a corner, and started making his way to the more busy area. The streets were lined with shopping stores, boutiques, cafes, restaurants, and tons of other stores. This seemed to pike the male's interest, and his mood soon lifted.
"Whoa! Look at that! What's that thing called?" Reiji piped up, gesturing you to come over to him, finally he was accepting your company. He excitedly pointed over at a claw machine, where a young boy had just won himself a plushie.
"That's called an arcade game, it's a claw machine." You explained to him, shuffling through your purse and fishing out a couple coins. "Would you like me to show you how to play?"
"Yeah!!"
He was like a child. You slipped in the few coins and let him take care of all the controls, it should be much more fun for him that way. All you did was explain how to use everything, and Reiji got the hand of it, winning a [Favourite Plush] for you, as a thanks for not dragging him home immediately.
"I'm hungry. Are you hungry? Do you smell that?" Suddenly Reiji wanted food.
"It's from that cart over there. Do you know what a bao is? It's a pork steam bun." Like a tourist, you took him over to the cart and bought him a warm bun. The both of you strolled down the street to a railing overlooking a a gorgeous body of water that reflected street lights, stars in the sky, and the perfect full moon. Arion had a beautiful sky as well, but the view of the city here was so much more different.
"Man, this place is the best!" Reiji grinned to himself, excited as ever just to get a bite out of his bun. You smiled softly to yourself, staring off into the distance of the water. It was so heartbreaking to have to pull him away from all this fun, and freedom, something he deserved.
"I'm sorry, Prince Reiji." You mumbled, earning a confused look from the boy.
"For what?" He asked with his mouth full of food, then swallowed down.
"I'll have to take you home after this. I'll ruin your fun." Quietly, you just took a small nibble from your bao.
"No you don't." Reiji let out a small laugh, leaning his back against the railing. "Let's just stay here, no one's here to tell us we can't! We can go to Sei's place, he's that boy I was talking to, he's cool." Cue another bite.
"We can't disrupt other people's lives here, Prince. It wouldn't be right."
"I don't see the problem." He huffed. "Today was the best. . . You taught me all about stuff on Earth, there's so much more I wanna do! Like that Gunpla, fighter, thing-"
"Gunpla Battle."
"Yeah! That!" He grinned. "I wanna try all their food, see all the cool places!" Just the thought of adventure had him brimming with excitement.
"That's a lovely dream, Prince."
"It's Reiji, by the way."
"I'm- not obliged to call you by your first name, my Prince." You laughed nervously.
"If I'm the prince, you do what I say, and I say you call me Reiji. I also say we stay here on Earth a bit longer."
". . . Okay. Reiji." You wanted him to be happy, so you let this one slide. You might get in trouble with the Queen, but your main priority would always to make the prince happy.
"Whoa! What's that thing!" His yelling caught you off guard, he was frantically pointing over at a grey squirrel.
"That's a squirrel, a member of the rodent family."
". . . Can it eat steam buns?"
"No it can't Reiji, don't feed the squirrel."
