January 1st, 2014

Today was an interesting day. The sky was clear and the sun was attempting to warm me up in the below freezing air. It wasn't doing too great of a job, but it was at least trying. Generally I tried to avoid leaving my house when it was this cold outside, but I felt a strong urge to go on a walk.

When I left my house this morning, I put on my jacket and started making my way to a nearby park. If it was any further away, I don't think I would have bothered with my urge of wanting to go out for once.

Upon arrival, I made my way to a bench in the sun. Not really having anything else to do, other than look at my phone, I decided that I could take the one chance I had to look up at the sky. The sky was clear other than a few specks of puffy white clouds, slowly making their way across the sky.

I was just starting to actually enjoy myself when a husky runs up to me. It gave me a look that would make anyone else weak for the dog. When realizing that it could be someone's dog, I reached my hand out for the dog to smell. He licked my hand, causing me to then gently move my hand towards his collar. Turning over the tag on his collar, it said his name was Charlie. Below his name, it said the phone number of the owner, so I dialed it into my phone to call them. Never got a response until about an hour after that, but that's not what I'm trying to say here.

After trying to reach out to the owner, I started petting Charlie so he wouldn't run away before I was contacted by the owner. Not too long later, a guy, who seemed to be close to my age, walked up and asked to pet Charlie. Seeing no reason to say no, I tell him that he can. He gave me a large smile before crouching on the ground to be closer to Charlie's height.

Within a few moments, he asked me how old Charlie was, and since I didn't know, I told him it wasn't my dog. He then shot me a look of confusion before I explained the situation.

When he understood, he offered to stay with me until the owner was contacted so I wasn't just sitting there alone. It was rather nice to talk to him, we seemed to get along pretty well. His name was (Y/N), and I told him mine was Johnny. After the owner had come to pick up their dog, we exchanged phone numbers so we could hang out again. Maybe staying inside is a bad thing sometimes.
