It's mom and dad's thirtieth wedding anniversary. We all have been waiting for this day with so much eager and finally the D-day is here. I walked out of my bathroom in a white short bathrobe that was just in my middle thighs, with a knot tied around my waist and entered my vast white-furnished bedroom. I see the make-up artists and beauticians are here already. I greeted them with enthusiasm, this is gonna be a great day! The head of the beauty team,Andy, comes forward to where I am and snake one of his arms around my waist as he pulled me closer and pecked on my lips. I giggled as we pulled away shortly.

We walk to the dressing table and he pulled the chair for me as I sat down. He placed his hands on my shoulders and said, " are you ready for the make over baby girl! The special day is here!" I nodded my head with a banana smile on my face.

The beauty team moved forward and started with their duties. Andy told me to close my eyes and only open them when the job is done. I felt brushes run through my cheeks and on my eyelids. Then something cool on my lips. My hair was opened and blow-dried. Then delicate fingers did their job into making me look good tonight.

The stylists were done so Andy asked me to open my eyes and I was surprised to see the beauty in front of me, not that I don't believe in my beauty, but because of the perfect job done. The girls helped me get into my prom gown and put on the heels and the required jewelry. I stood in front of the mirror and I was ready to walk downstairs into the function.

Just the, Nora come in and she kissed me on my cheek. She looked at me from head to toes and said, " the beauty princess is ready! Mom sent me to get you since guests have stated arriving! Best wishes for the great day little one!" We walked downstairs hand in hand. We stopped at one of the corners of the magnificent hall of the Andrew's villa, where the event was held. Mom and dad hugged me and both wished me good luck for the day.

Yes, it's their anniversary but also....their was a special announcement that was going to be made tonight! The families involved already knew about it since it's been discussed and tonight dad was going to announce it to the world!

I have been walking around greeting everyone and thanking everyone for making it and staying by our side during these happy moments. I've hugged all my friends and relatives who have been invited, people have also been asking me about my outfit and hairstyle or even the makeup and I had to answer politely. Perfect life of a socialiate!

Someone tapped on my shoulder and told me that I was being summoned my Mr. Andrew at the entrance door. I walked over and smiled when I saw who had arrived. My heart made a summer solt with excitement.

"Hello auntie and uncle! How have you all been? Where's King?" I hugged the two, my favourite people after my family.

"Oh dear! He's just parking the car he'll be here any...!" Auntie was talking sweetly when she was cut off. Talk of the devil and the devil appears! But unfortunately the one standing in front of me is a Greek god and not a devil.

"Am here Tamera Andrew!" King said opening his arms for me to go for a hug. I hugged him and we pulled away quickly as he went on and greeted both mom and dad.

"Where's my gift kiddo?" Dad asked him and he seemed to search his pockets for it.

" I'll give it later! I don't seem to find it now!" He said and everyone laughed at his silly joke.

My big sister, Nora, asked everyone to come in and join the ongoing party. Everyone walked inside the mansion as I remained behind. He too remaind behind. He come over and snaked his hand around my waist and as if on cue, the two of us walked inside.

The party had already started, everyone was enjoying themselves and that's when Nora thought it was best that she brings everyone's fun to a hold. She picked up the mic and went on stage and seek everyone's attention.

"Ladies and gentlemen, can I have your attention please! I would like to start by thanking all of you present for making it tonight and celebrate this happy occasion with us. As it's known, this is the thirtieth wedding anniversary to the best couple I've lived to know! I'll start by wishing them, "happy anniversary mom and dad!" Then I'll call them both on stage and say something to all of us. As the couple make their way up here, let's give them a big round of applause and enjoy the party everyone!" She raised the glass of drink she had in one hand as she said the last part and she made her way down the stage giving room to mom and dad.

" It's been thirty year! But nothing's changed for sure! I've said it before, and am gonna say it again and will live to say it, am glad I got you in my life Melania! I don't have much to say but, she's the best wife, best friend, business partner, mom, grandmother, listener, advisor and all that! Thank you for understanding me and staying right next to me for the last thirty years dear, you've sticked through thick and thin! I don't fear saying it infront of you all, I love Melania as much as I used to love her all those years down the line!" Dad ended his speech and kissed mom before quickly pulling away and mom made her way to give her speech.

" Actually, he talks too highly of me, but the truth is, all the duties he just mentioned, he plays his role perfectly! I got a golden heart and beautiful white soul why wouldn't I stick by it? Thank you Harrison for always being there for me. I appreciate you and love you more with every passing moment! Thank you all for making it here tonight and make yourselves comfortable as you enjoy the night. Harrison has an announcement to make!" Dad moved close to her and stood next to her.

He took the mic and said, "tonight is not only special to us, but also my younger daughter, Tamera Andrew!" He motioned for me to make my way to the stage and I could see all eyes on me now. I held my head high as I smiled and made my way up there and stood beside mom. Dad went on, " Tonight, I'm publicly announcing the engagement of my younger daughter to our favourite! He's everyone's favourite in fact! King Harrington! Come up here son!" He runs in a slow pace as he runs through the staircase and makes his way up here waving at everyone in the hall and everyone cheered for the Mr. Charming! Dad hugged him and he took the mic to speak.

" How's the night everyone?! So today, I'm going to ask for Ms. Andrew's hand in marriage and propose to her!" He said as everyone cheered for him. He turned around and took few steps towards me and then went down on his knee and fished out a small red box out of his suit. He opened it and there lied the most breathtaking ring I've seen with diamonds around it!

"Will you marry me Tamera Andrew?" He said and my heart skipped a beat. The whole hall went into cheers shouting King's name as others were encouraging me to accept it. I looked over to dad and mom and they both nodded their heads.

I knelt down in front of him and stretched out my left hand, " yes I will King Harrington!" He took out the ring and put it on my ring finger of my left hand. He pulled my head and kissed my forehead and we both stood up.

He snaked his hand around my waist and we both walked over to where my parents were standing. King had his famous smile on his face and he told mom, " this is my gift auntie! I kept my word and gave you the gift!" Mom pulled him into a hug as dad tapped on his shoulder and said, "congrats my boy! My girl will soon be yours!" They both smiled as King and I walked down the stage into the crowd. Through every passing group, everyone wished us and congratulated us. Those few who were close, pulled my hand and triple checked my ring as they drool over it.

King took me out of the party and we went to the secluded part of the gardens. We sat on a swing and no one said anything. We were enjoying the silence.

I spoke up first braking the pin drop silence, "King, are you sure about all this?"

"Why not Tamera?"

"It's a life time commitment and we'll have to live like a real couple do!"

" That's not a problem at all. What haven't we done together? Sleep, eat, dance, swim, jog, attend functions and seminars all those. It's not something new for the two of us!"

" Yes, but we did it as best friends not a married couple!"

"We'll get used to it over time Tamera! " He said and then there was pin drop silence again. Each one deep in thought!

"But you always had that crush of yours King! How can you give up just like that? And when you marry me there will be no chance for the union of you two! You deserve the best!" I said trying to convince him.

"What about you? Don't you deserve the best? I have spent each and every moment of my life by your side. We've travelled the world together, we've made memories and new dreams then we fulfill them together! Does that mean nothing to you? We will just cope with the new life Tamera!"

He reminded me of all those childhood memories when we were chasing each other and fall into mad by the road on our way from school. We would go buy corn besides the road at night and have them while looking at the traffic. We traveled to different corners of Earth and tasted new cuisines! There were no better friends than the two of us. But the world mistook our friendship for relationship. Yes I agree I never had a crush or love someone before. I was always busy with my studies and during free time, I would always go to the library or to the park or swimming pool and enjoy myself. During holidays, we would go tour different countries sometimes with his family and sometimes with my family. I also confess that I have no problem Living with him at all. As he said, let's give it a try and we'll cope with it.

"Don't stress out yourself! The wedding is in a week's time and you'll leave with me for New York! We'll leave there since my business headquarters are there. Your dad also said that he'll appoint you as the new manager of the New York branch of his company. It's fair right? You'll get to live with this best friend of yours and also get to work." I agreed with him on this. His mom said that all I have to pack was just my personal clothes and things I'll need there since the house there has everything already.

We walked back into the party and we enjoyed ourselves. We had a dance and then dinner was served. We walked into the gardens that were now full to capacity. There were buffet set up already and all the guests have a self service dinner. After the dinner, the guests stayed for sometimes and started leaving by eleven at night. Everyone who came to bid goodbye to mom and dad, congratulated me once again and left. The last people to leave were the Harringtons. Our family friend. These two families have been friends for decades now!

" Good night auntie!" I kissed auntie Mary's both cheeks and she held me by my shoulders.

"Dear am happy for you! You'll soon be my son's wife! I'll be waiting for you to welcome you to the family!" She kissed my forehead and my heart did a summer soilt again. She is my favourite auntie in the world!

I said bye to uncle too and King gave me a peck before asking me to walk him out and my mom encouraged me to go with him. We walked slowly to the parking lot with our hands in each other. We talked about a project of his that was giving him trouble and I told him to Email me the details and I'll try to solve it. He wrapped his arms around my body and pulled me closer as he kissed my forehead and said goodnight and drove his parents back to their house and I walked back inside.

I went to my room and freshen up. I was glad the event was over and was able to get ride of the gown now. I wore a white baby doll night dress and got in my tempting bed as I think of the busy week ahead. I had to finish dress shopping and also shop for the things I'll need when I leave. Then there's King's project and also I have to do the last minute touches in the office before leaving for New York city! Slowly, I fell into sleep.
