Training For The Big Day
Yeonjun was awoken by the feeling of chains being removed. Was it morning? Night? He couldn't tell. He looked at Soobin who was starting to stir. There were four people in the room this time. Two were standing behind with something concealed within their robes. He thought of fighting back, but worried for Soobin's safety.
"We'll be taking you to endurance training first. It's what you'll be doing all day with two breaks." one of them said.
"Two? Are you trying to kill us?" Yeonjun spat as he rubbed his wrists.
"If you can't stand it, we'll be more than happy to make your death quick and painless." the other said and revealed a taser.
Yeonjun kept quiet as he was lifted off the floor along with a half awake Soobin. These people were more dangerous than he thought. He looked at Soobin who was finally starting to wake up. After walking down a dimly lit hall, they were tossed into a room. The two with weapons stepped in and closed the door.
"Strap them up." the one who had been quiet all this time said.
The other started to strap weighs on them then had them lie down belly flat. Then they had a heavy container placed onto their back.
"Start. If we deem your performance a terrible one, we'll take away break time." said the one who strapped them down.
They were heavy. Yeonjun could barely push up before having the weight push him back down. Soobin on the other hand had completed one before collapsing. Yeonjun looked up at the robed figures and mentally cursed them. How could anyone do push ups like this? They'd die before they could complete a set. He became angrier at the fact they just sat there talking to each other as if they weren't suffering right in front of them.
"Hey! The least you could do is pity us rather than act like we aren't here!" shouted Yeonjun in anger.
"Jun, just let them be. If we don't do something, we'll lose our breaks." Soobin said.
Yeonjun silently backed down. He only did for Soobin sake. And the sake of their breaks.

Both Soobin and Yeonjun panted heavily as their tired bodies rested on the floor. Half an hour passed and they were tired to the point their body parts wouldn't move without enticing pain. The two robed figures looked at each other and burst into laughter. That was enough to send Yeonjun into a fury.
"Listen here you laughing idiots. If I wasn't dead beat tired and all of this shit wasn't strapped to me, I'd fucking kill you both. That isn't a threat, it's a promise. Watch your back you dirty assholes." Yeonjun spat.
Soobin watched in horror as one of them stood up then stepped hard atop Yeonjun's head.
"You've got quite a mouth. Let's hope you can keep talking big like that once tomorrow starts." they said with a hyena laugh.
"Hey, we're not supposed to hurt them unless necessary. I don't want to get in trouble for your mistakes." the other said as they pulled their friend off.
"When is our first break supposed to be?" Soobin asked quietly.
"10 hours from when you started." replied the one who sat their aggressive friend down.
Soobin kept quiet as he let his muscles relax slightly before attempting to push up again. He instantly collapsed and felt the weight of the container really dig into his back.
"If you two keep sitting there while doing nothing, we'll add more weight and take away a break." barked the aggressive one.
Soobin weakly crawled over to Yeonjun who kept still.
"Jun, do we obey?" Soobin whispered.
"No. We're going to lose them either way because it's nearly impossible to lift this much without proper training. So just lie down with me." Yeonjun responded.
"You have thirty seconds to start moving." the aggressive one yelled.
"Hey, they already figured it out. That's enough." the other said.
The duo looked up in confusion. Figured it out? It wasn't an endurance test?
"Ah, I see. This was also a mental endurance test, wasn't it?" Yeonjun asked, knowing he might not get a straight answer.
They kept silent as they removed the containers off their backs. They both sighed in satisfaction at the feeling.
"Your first break starts now. An hour." the aggressive one said before leaving the room.
The other started to leave, but Yeonjun had stopped them.
"Can we have names to call you by?" asked Yeonjun.
"Rin. Call him Kang." Rin said before leaving the room.
Yeonjun rolled onto his back and so did Soobin.
"What do you think they'll do to us next?" Soobin asked, breaking the silence.
"Hell if I know. All we need to do is survive. Even if it means sacrificing ourselves for the other or leaving someone behind." said Yeonjun sternly.
"Do you think this is a bad place? I'm not saying I'm all for how they're treating us, but..." said Soobin as he looked at the weight.
"They kidnapped us. So they're bad." responded Yeonjun without hesitation.
Soobin simply nodded then rolled into his side so he was facing Yeonjun. A smile crept onto his face as he stared. Even if the situation was hardly desirable, at least he was able to be by Yeonjun's side and maybe, just maybe win over his love and affection.

The duo quietly sat as their last chain had been placed on. Rin and Kang watched over them before busting themselves on their phone or with a book. Yeonjun looked at Soobin who had his eyes closed. He worked harder than he did, so he decided not disturb him.
"What's the point of all of this? Why would we want to join a cult that kidnapped us?" Yeonjun fussed.
Rin and Kang looked at each other before bursting into laughter. They quieted down yet never gave him an answer. That fact ticked him off more.
"Answer me! Why go through all of this when some would rather die, huh?" Yeonjun asked angrily.
Kang sighed then clasped his hands together after putting his book down.
"Tell me, what is humanity's greatest fear?" Kang asked quietly.
Yeonjun quietly thought as it could be a trick question. Kang watched in amusement. Rin had stopped using his phone to see the outcome.
"Death. We all fear death." replied Yeonjun.
"You're right, but you're also wrong. Humans fear fear itself. And due to that, it flows into other things like as you said, death." said Kang before taking a small bottle of water out of his pocket. "And fear makes us weak. Those who can conquer their fears are the ones who come out on top. So now do you understand why we put people through hell and back and through it again?"
"You're sick." Yeonjun spat.
Kang simply shrugged then went back to his book. Rin kept quiet and went back to his phone. He couldn't remember the last time the both of them had a conversation with their captives. They were either too scared to speak or would have already been killed off. Something told him they'd have to keep a careful eye on the two of them, especially the one sitting in front of him.
