Our Farewell

Yeonjun and Soobin excitedly chatted with their friends as they bonded over whose professor was the worst.

"Trust me, you'd never want to step foot into her class without mentally preparing first." said Soobin with a shrug.

"Speaking of classes, we should be heading to ours. Catch you guys later." Yeonjun said as he pulled Soobin with him.

"I wish the school year was over already. That or something happens and we can't attend anymore. I prefer the former tho." complained Soobin as they walked across the small bridge.

"You have a year left here. You'll make it." replied Yeonjun as he held the door open. "I on the other hand have to find a job once this year finishes."

They took their seats as other students filed in. Soobin yawned then rested his head next to Yeonjun's arm. Yeonjun frowned and pushed him away.

Yeonjun quietly ate his lunch as he sat outside. Soobin was still in class. A few students greeted him and he half heartedly replied back. He wasn't exactly a people person, but compared to Soobin, he was the more sociable one. Soobin was just shy around new faces.

"Jun!" Soobin shouted as he jogged over with his lunch.

Yeonjun silently scooted over and moved his bag off the seat. Soobin smiled warmly as he took his seat beside Yeonjun. Yeonjun couldn't understand how Soobin was always smiling around him. Didn't he have bad days? Soobin curiously looked back at him.

"What?" Soobin finally asked.

"Don't you ever frown? Get upset? Anything?" asked Yeonjun as he packed up his lunch.

"Well yeah, of course. I'm human." replied Soobin in confusion.

"Yet you don't seem human around me. You're always smiling around me. That's all." said Yeonjun before taking out his phone.

"Oh. I just didn't want to worry you with my problems. You said so yourself." explained Soobin before going back to eating.

He said something like that? It wasn't unlike him to say something like that. Though, he didn't remember saying it to Soobin. If anything, he wanted him to bother him with his problems. Why? Because...

"Let me worry about you... you're important to me..." muttered Yeonjun as he liked a selfie Soobin had posted the night before.

Soobin stared at Yeonjun with his mouth agape. Not once had he ever thought he held a spot in Yeonjun's heart. It was always hard to tell exactly what he was feeling because his words and actions hardly ever matched. He could say he liked you but would snub you the day after. To hear that Yeonjun considered him important was mind blowing.

"Do you mean that...?" Soobin asked slowly.

"I do. You know I never lie to you." Yeonjun said as he met Soobin's eyes.

Soobin subconsciously grabbed at his heart as it started beating faster than before. It usually beat fast whenever he was around him at all. He was well aware of the fact he liked Yeonjun. Would he ever tell him? He planned to. After his graduation. Telling him anytime before his last day of classes would subject them both to awkwardness if Yeonjun rejected him.

"Right. You never do." Soobin said after a long silence.

Yeonjun waited with their friends as Soobin was slow to show. He told them to go on ahead and he'd catch up with them when Soobin arrived. Not too long after, he noticed two people watching him from across the street. He kept his cool as to not show them he was slightly spooked. Soobin finally showed up and Yeonjun was quick to pull him down the block.

"Where's everyone?" Soobin asked.

"I had them go on ahead. What kept you?" Yeonjun asked.

Soobin kept quiet as he couldn't exactly say why. That he took so long because he wanted to look good for him. That was a confession in of itself.

"Couldn't find my favorite necklace." lied Soobin as they crossed the street.

"Put it somewhere you can find it next time." scolded Yeonjun as he discreetly looked back.

The two people weren't following them. He was about to sigh in relief until he spotted them directly across from them on the other side of the street. Yeonjun picked up his pace and dragged Soobin along.

"Are we late or something?" Soobin asked bewildered.

"We're being followed. Don't look, just keep looking straight ahead." mumbled Yeonjun as he could see the place down the block.

Their friends laughed at them as Yeonjun looked ticked off. He understood it sounded crazy, but at most they would believe Soobin.

"If we end up disappearing, it's your fault for not believing us." fussed Soobin as he angrily ate his dinner.

"Sorry Bin. We'll keep a lookout, but not having much a description to go off of... its kinda hard." a friend said with an apologetic look.

"Just do the best you can." Soobin said softly.

Yeonjun looked out the window and wondered where the two people ended up going. Did they blend in with the crowd? Were they waiting outside? No matter how much he tried, he couldn't put his guard down.

"Hey, try to loosen up a bit..." whispered Soobin.

"I don't feel safe out here. I'm heading back to the school." Yeonjun whispered back.

"Wait, I'll go with you." responded Soobin as he finished the last of his meal before handing one of their friends cash.
