Lonely
~ Prom Night ~
While everyone was joyously dancing around and chattering amongst themselves, I was all alone having the time of my life savoring the appetizing, scrumptuous buffet.
Happily enjoying myself and humming in delight, I suddenly heard audible footsteps approaching me from behind.
Wiping my mouth with a napkin and turning around, I noticed Jungkook stop right in front of me with his hands stuffed in his pocket like always.
"Hey beautiful." He flirted, sending me a playful wink.
"I'm pretty sure your 'girlfriend' wouldn't appreciate you calling me that." I stated, jokingly shaking my head in disappointment.
"I wasn't saying that to you idiot. I was talking to the buffet behind you." He teased.
Gasping in great offense, I harshly smacked him on his chest while he laughed his butt off at me.
"Asshole." I grumpily muttered.
"I'm just kidding Seoyeon, you really do look pretty tonight." Jungkook kindly complimented, causing my cheeks to flare instantly.
"Only tonight though." He taunted, receiving a smack from me once again while he adorably giggled.
"Where's your date?" He curiously questioned as he cocked his head, probably wondering why I was all alone at the buffet table.
"Don't have one." I carelessly shrugged, not really bothered by the fact that I went completely solo to my senior prom.
"What? Why didn't you go with your crush or something?" He curiously asked, being that naive, clueless being he's always been.
It's you, idiot.
"I don't like anyone." I lied, not wanting to be some sort of interference to his love life.
"Seoyeon, you should believe in love." Jungkook suggested, once again being utterly oblivious.
With a vigorous sting attacking my heart, I defeatedly shifted my gaze to the ground.
How can I believe in love when I'm looking at you, and you're looking at Yerim?
"I'll try." I responded, forcing a frail simper onto my face as I smiled up at him.
Suddenly, the two of us were interrupted by the loud ringing of Jungkook's phone, causing him to hastily shove his hand into his pocket and check the caller ID.
Guessing from the way his circular eyes instantly lit up, I knew it was Yerim.
"Crap, I have to go. See you later Seoyeon." He apologetically stated, hurriedly waving at me goodbye as he left me standing there all alone once again.
Letting out a gloomy sigh, I picked up my glass of fruit punch and took a sip from it.
But I suddenly began to hear devious snickers gradually approaching me from behind, causing me to turn around to see who it was.
I noticed Jimin and Hyeona walking up me with their hands intertwined, the two of them displaying smug sneers on their faces.
"What a loner." Hyeona unnecessarily commented, pitifully looking down on me with her medusa-like eyes.
"Well you two sure look great together." I stated as I sent them a polite grin, completely ignoring her discourteous statement.
"Thanks. I think we were meant to be since we both hate you and your twisted soul." She once again insulted, lightly placing her head on Jimin's shoulder as she smirked at me.
"Awe, I'm glad I helped." I replied, absolutely unbothered by any taunt she bombards me with.
"What even are you wearing Seoyeon? Your dress is nothing compared to my custom-made, diamond embedded cocktail dress." She confidently bragged, showing off her hideous shamrock green, strapless dress which was nearly falling down due to her flat-chestedness.
"Hyeona, I've seen trash bags prettier than your dress." I commented, rolling my eyes at her utter arrogance.
Her face instantly flushed from extreme humiliation, especially due to the fact that her beloved 'boyfriend' heard what I had just said.
With his eyebrows furrowing in rage, Jimin opened his mouth to defend her.
"Don't talk to my girlfriend like that, Seoyeon."
"Girlfriend? She's probably just another victim of your lustful desires, right Jimin?" I snapped, disbelieved by his audacity to even label a girl he's clearly manipulating and utilizing for his greed as his 'girlfriend.'
"And I'm actually pretty surprised you chose Hyeona out of all the other choices you had. It really must suck to be blind." I pitied him, only to make Hyeona let out a loud gasp and open her mouth to fire back at me.
"Wha-"
"Anyways, I hope you two stay strong." I interrupted her, casually walking away from these gruesome pests.
I believe imbeciles like her were put on this planet to test my anger management skills.
I honestly didn't feel like partying anymore.
Since I didn't have a date anyway, I just decided to leave this prom.
But as I took a step onto the stairway that lead up to the exit, I noticed a restless looking Taehyung breathlessly rush down the stairs, wearing a navy blue tuxedo with a black bowtie.
"Oh, Seoyeon!" He surprisedly shouted at the sight of me, stopping in his footsteps as he greeted me.
"Why're you so late?" I curiously asked, wondering where he was this whole entire time.
"There was really bad traffic on my way here." He said while panting with sweat tricking down the side of his face.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"Oh, I was just about to leave since I'm kind of bored here." I replied as I shrugged my shoulders.
"Oh come on Seoyeon, just stay." He pleaded with a grouchy pout forming on his face.
Suddenly, the audible music playing from the ballroom switched to a soothing, rather romantic tune.
"Oh, I think the slow dance is about to begin." Taehyung said.
Holding out his hand toward me as if he was a prince with courtesy, he smiled with his adorable, wide grin.
"What?" I confusedly questioned, staring down at his large hand in front of me.
"Dance with me." He cutely demanded.
Letting out a chuckle, I gently placed my small hand on top of his.
"I guess."
