Fatal Attraction

~ Lunch ~

Entering the cafeteria, I eagerly scanned the tables filled with countless numbers of students, searching for Taehyung in order to discuss our plans for the project.

After walking around like a lost child looking for her mother, I finally spotted a familiar-looking coconut head situated with two other coconut heads.

I was rather surprised at the fact that Taehyung was sitting with Jungkook and Jimin, happily conversing with them as if they were best friends.

I never really understood how guys managed to make friends so easily.

Approaching their table, Jungkook immediately noticed me and raised his hand in the air.

"Seoyeon!" He shouted, delightedly swaying his hand with a bright simper displayed on his face.

Situating myself in between Jungkook and Taehyung, I casually greeted them like how I usually did.

"Hey guys. I'm just here because I have to talk to Taehyung." I said, only to receive a mocking 'ooooh' from Jungkook and Jimin with their eyebrows tauntingly wriggling.

"Oh shut up. It's about the project." I said as I rolled my eyes at their immature behavior.

"Be careful Tae, she's a bully." Jungkook warned, receiving a hard smack on his arm from me in return.

While he painfully groaned and gently rubbed his arm where I hit him, I turned around to face Taehyung in order to speak to him.

"So, about the-"

But as I was about to get to the point, Taehyung suddenly stood up from his seat with his face completely flushed in bright red.

"S-Sorry, I-I have to go." He reluctantly stated, hurriedly running away from me like I was some sort of horrifying monster.

"What just happened?" Jimin confusedly asked, puzzled from Taehyung's strange behavior.

"Tae probably got scared from seeing her ugly ass face." Jungkook teasingly stated, only to pierce his offensive words right through my heart.

Okay, that kind of hurt.

He took it a bit too far.

"Shut the hell up Kookie, Seoyeon's really pretty." Jimin protested, kindly standing up for me and comforting me with his generous compliment.

Seeing that I was clearly offended by his rude remark, Jungkook suddenly cupped my face with his large hand and made me look at him.

"Hey, you know I'm just kidding right?" He asked, slight angst and worry visible in his eyes as he gazed at me.

I simply continued to furiously glare at him, a huge pout displayed on my face with my arms grumpily folded.

"Stop being sad. A frown really doesn't suit you." Jungkook said, causing me to roll my eyes at his comment.

"And what is that supposed to mean?" I irritatedly asked, assuming he was indicating that I was ugly once again.

"What I'm trying to say is..." He muttered as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck, his cheeks slightly flushing as he sheepishly shifted his gaze away from mine.

"I-I like it when you smile. I-It's pretty."

Hearing his unexpected compliment, my heart greatly fluttered.

My cheeks instantly flaring up, the corners of my lips unintentionally began to curl up from the utter contentment I felt.

"God, you two should just date already." Jimin suddenly commented, seeing our shy behavior toward each other.

"S-Shut up Jimin." Jungkook bashfully stuttered, lightly giving him a punch on his arm.

"I-I'm gonna go look for Taehyung." I timidly said as I stood up from my seat to leave, almost forgetting why I even came here in the first place.

But as I attempted to walk away, I suddenly felt a strong grip on my arm stop me in my footsteps.

"Wait, Seoyeon."

Turning around, I noticed Jungkook anxiously looking up at me with his adorably circular eyes and his brawny hand grabbing onto mine.

"Are you still mad at me?"

Hearing his question, I couldn't help but let out a small laugh.

"You know I cant stay mad at you stupid."

And with that, I left the table.

Hurriedly exiting the cafeteria in search for Taehyung, I suddenly began to hear furious yelling and a loud commotion coming from the hallway.

Feeling a bit frightful, I cautiously tiptoed toward a wall and peeked at the direction of where the clamor was coming from.

My eyes greatly widened at the sight of Yerim and a relatively tall guy angrily arguing in the middle of the hall.

The student had his back facing me so I couldn't see how he looked.

Contemplating on whether to help my best friend or not, I suddenly gasped at the sight of the guy forcefully grab Yerim by her arms, harshly pinning her against the lockers and causing a loud bang to echo through the entire hallway.

Fiercely clenching my fists in rage, I hurriedly ran to my best friend's side and strongly pushed the aggressive student away from her with all my might.

"S-Seoyeon?" I heard Yerim fearfully mutter from behind me, but I continued to stand in front of her with my back facing her, ready to fight this belligerent guy at any moment in order to protect her.

As the guy stood back up from my push, he gradually turned around to face the two of us.

My eyes grew extremely large at how insanely good-looking he was, but attempted not to be fooled by his appearance and continued to glare at him.

"Who the hell are you to push me like that?" He furiously asked with his eyebrows furrowed in rage.

"And who the hell are you to push my best friend like that?" I snapped back, only to receive a disbelieved scoff from him in return.

"I'm her boyfriend." He confidently stated, an arrogant smirk gradually forming on his face.

Oh, so this is the guy Yerim broke up with.

"You mean, ex-boyfriend?" I tauntingly asked, raising an eyebrow as I smirked at him back.

Obviously taken back at the fact that I knew about their little split-up, the guy stayed silent as he anxiously gulped.

I guess he was pretty embarrassed, because he hurriedly turned around to escape from the scene.

"I'm not giving up on you Yerim." He stated, then timidly ran away toward the cafeteria.

"Damn, your ex sure is crazy." I said as I turned around to face Yerim, who was slightly quivering in fear.

"I-I know... I tried to break up with him but he wouldn't let me..." She reluctantly responded.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you from that psycho." I assured, gently embracing her in my arms as I lightly stroked her back to comfort her.

"Thanks Seoyeon..." She muttered in relief, hugging me back as she attempted to calm herself down.

"Oh, by the way, have you seen Taehyung by any chance?" I curiously asked her as we gradually pulled apart, only to receive a small nod from her in response.

"Yeah, I saw him run up the stairs that leads to the rooftop." Yerim informed me, pointing toward the direction of where he headed with her index finger.

"Urgh, okay. Thanks Yerim."

And with that, I hurriedly ran toward the stairway and headed to the rooftop.
