Reveals part 2

As you follow the old woman, into an airship, you can't help but feel a mixture of curiosity and unease. You remember bits and pieces of your grandfather's stories, but nothing that connects him to the Jewel family.

The old woman leads you to a small room in the airship with the rest of the family behind you. Your greeted to a red velvety room that had a small bar on the side. You notice the guy who gave you a smart remark go behind the bar and pour himself a drink. Chester, if you were remembering his name correctly. You see the middle aged woman shoot a glare at him as her fox tail stops moving. The guy's ears fall flat as he lets out a groan.

Chester: Can I get you two a drink?

He says in an almost begrudging tone.

(Y/n): Not of age yet.

You inform him. You then see your aunt immediately jump ahead of you and to the bar.

(A/n): I sure as hell am!

She states loudly causing you to shake your head. You then see the middle aged woman help the old woman to sit down. She sets her cane aside and looks at you with a warm smile. To be honest, you couldn't tell if it was genuine. You can never tell with people from Atlas. They mainly hide behind money. In this case, the private aircraft that you and your aunt have just entered. All you need to hear is 'you let my granddaughter die' before you become the first person to attempt to jump out of the small window of an aircraft. As you take a seat across from the old woman, you can't help but feel a bit nervous. Your aunt starts chatting away with Chester, asking about the family business and how things have been going. You, on the other hand, find yourself avoiding every eye belonging to the jewel family.

(Y/n): I'm sorry Misses Jewel.

???: Please, call me Samantha.

The middle aged Jewel said.

(Y/n): Samantha...right. I'm sorry about Bianca. She was a good person and a very close friend.

You say.

Samantha: You were closer than that from what she told us.

She coyly remarks as she smiles sweetly.

Your eyes widen in surprise.

(Y/n): Oh. She told you.

As Samantha nods her head in understanding, her eyes take a subtle measure of you.

Samantha: We weren't privy to many of her personal matters. When we heard your name, mainly your last. Let's just say your presence here was a shock, to say the least.

Leaning forward, she folds her hands on the table, a sign of earnestness.

Samantha: Especially to my mother.

She finishes as she then lays a hand on the old woman's shoulder.

You turn your attention to the old woman, who seems to be looking at you intently, as if trying to see into your very soul. Her piercing gaze is unnerving, and you find yourself shifting uncomfortably in your seat.

Samantha: Mother? Would you like to say something?

The old woman leans forward, her weathered hands clutching the edge of the table.

???: The same aura that surrounded your grandfather. I can sense it...

This comment took you by surprise. You could tell by your Aunt's look that mirrored onto the everyone in the room.

Samantha: M-Mother...?

Your aunt leans forward.

(A/n): Are you sure?

Your aunt asks in a surprised manner.

The old woman just nods slowly.

You notice Chester's demeanor change slightly, his ears perking up. The glass of scotch in his hand stops mid-way to his lips.

???: Your grandfather was our partner. Before the war. We were...close.

You notice Samantha's eyes narrow and her mouth shape into a small smile as she places a hand on her mother's shoulder. The old woman closes her eyes and places her hand on her daughter's hand.

???: The resemblance is striking. The same sharp features. The same determined set to your eyes. Then again I expected as much, given how strong your genes are.

You couldn't help but to raise a brow. You and Bianca's family have history?

(Y/n): That's...surprising to say the least. Are you sure?

You ask with suspicion laced in your tone. The old woman snapped her fingers which causes Chester to put his drink down and leave the room.

???: Your grandfather and I were apart of the resistance during the Great War. Our main focus at the time was to discretely steal supplies from Atlas and give to the people who were more needing.

Chester makes a sudden return and places a photo on the table. You look over at the photo to see your grandfather at about your age. She wasn't kidding, he did look like you. Or is it the other way around?

You see him smiling with his arms crossed with an fox faunas woman standing next to him and other young faunas men surrounding him with smiles.

???: The older one of the bunch is me. Eliza Jewel.

Eliza finally reveals her name while pointing at the more refined and serious looking woman standing next to your grandfather.

You notice your aunt lean forward, studying the photo intently.

A/n: I've never seen this before. Not even (U/n) had any picture of a younger (Gd/n). Do you have any more pictures?

Eliza nods, a small smile forming.

Eliza: Of course. We have quite a few. Silva was quite the charmer.

She winks at you before continuing.

Eliza: He was always making jokes, lightening the mood during our missions.

You notice your aunt lean forward, studying the photo intently.

Eliza stops herself and frowns.

Eliza: It wasn't easy at first. He was the only teen just turned adult amongst our ranks. And the only decent human being in Atlas. Coming across someone like him was like finding diamonds in a gold mine.

You listen intently and sit there in silence.

Jasper: Didn't know your father was a resistance fighter during the war.

(Y/n): A lot of our family's history is in the dark. My father told me when I was six that he cut ties with him, same with my uncle.

Jasper: Why?

You think hard on the why as it's the same question you asked your father too.

(Y/n): ....All he said was what my grandpa told him and my uncle. "The way the world is turning these days. You gotta make the most of it."

Jasper: The way the world's turning...?

You start to put recent events and what your grandpa said together.

(Y/n): He might have been referring to us. His family, his whole world...

You start to put recent events and what your grandpa said together.

(Y/n): He might have been referring to us. His family, his whole world...

Eliza speaks up, her words laced with nostalgia and regret.

Eliza: We were quite close, your grandfather and I. More so than he let on, I'm sure. We had our fair share of missions together, facing death more times than I care to remember. That was a rare occasion though, most of our missions were sabotaging or freedom fighting for our own trapped in labour camps. Your grandfather had a way of making even the most dire situations feel bearable. He was fearless, always ready to stand up for what he believed in. He was a beacon of hope for many of us.

She pauses, her gaze drifting to the photo. You see her eyes glaze over as she you could tell she was recalling the past. Her voice barely above a whisper.

Eliza: But the war took a toll on all of us. His personality or personalities couldn't cheer all of them up.

You were confused by her retelling.

(Y/n): 'Them'? Not us?

You question. Samantha then butt in.

Samantha: You see, at the end of the 9th year of the war. One of my mothers operations went wrong, as usual. However it almost cost her dearly.

Samantha explains. You notice Eliza take out a fire dust crystal and insert it into a small device on her cane. She then twists her cane causing the top part to dislodge revealing it to be a puffer of some sort.

Samantha: My mother was frozen in ice dust for nineteen years due to an explosion caused by an earthquake. Her aura took the brunt of it, however being the ice variant of dust, the effect was ever lasting.

Samantha continues as Eliza exhales the dust through the puffer.

(A/n): My god. I can't imagine.

Jasper suddenly chimes in.

Jasper: It was just ice right? Besides the hypothermia being treated, what else is there to worry about?

You lean forward and with a concerned look as you press Eliza about her current condition.

(Y/n): It sounds like a rare case.

Eliza nods and reattaches the puffer to her cane and places the drained dust crystal on the table where on of her butlers comes in and takes it to dispose of it.

Eliza: Yep. And I'm the lucky gal to first suffer from it.

(Y/n): What's it called?

Eliza looks at you with a faint smile.

Eliza: It's called "Aura Freezing." The ice dust crystallized around me but as my daughter said, my aura took the brunt of it. And kept taking the damage too....no one is supposed to be exposed to dust for as long as I was. Especially just one element. So after I was found by your grandfather and a mining team twenty years after the incident, they diagnosed my aura and said that it was there but almost 'inactive'. The doctor's theory was prolonged exposure to the ice and the energy that is contained in all dust crystals caused a sort of mutation in my aura. Now whenever I get hurt, I can't use it to heal that little scratch or bruise I may get from small accidents.

Samantha places a hand on her mother's shoulder, her face etched with concern.

You speak up once again.

(Y/n): Was my grandpa still there? At Atlas I mean.

She nods.

Eliza: Yes. And with your grandmother at the time. Beautiful woman she was. Even when she was pregnant with your father.

Eliza giggles to herself as she then looks at your aunt.

Eliza: You should have seen little (U/n). The chubbiest little cheeks a baby could have.

Samantha smiles at the memory, fondness evident in her features.

Samantha: That's right. When she met father and introduced all of the Schnees and Hunters to him his eyes immediately locked onto one year old (U/n) and he doted on him ever since.

She then looks at you, her face softening.

She noticed your shocked face and soon after the others did too.

(Y/n): Wait. Did you say Schnee?!

Samantha: Yes...The Schnees, the Jewels and the Hunters all have history. Your grandfather taught Nicholas Schnee how to fight and Nicholas and his father found my mother which is what connected all of us.

The room fell silent.

Samantha: (Y/n)..?

You were too lost in thought as you were trying to process all this information. Your father kept so much from you. But why?

(Y/n): Dad and uncle (U/n) never told me anything about this. Not even mum. Holy fuck! Talk about full circle!

You exclaim.

(A/n): (Y/n)! Language!

Chester took a swig of the alcohol in his tumbler glass.

Chester: Don't pretend you didn't know. I bet you thought if you could get with a Jewel unlike your grandfather then you'd be settled.

Chester says in a tipsy but aggressive tone.

Samantha: Chester Jewel!

You look at him.

(Y/n): What?!

Suddenly, your eyes flash red as you stand and walked to the bar.

(Y/n): Your sister is dead for fuck sake! At least show some class for your own flesh and blood!

You slam your hands into the bar causing the whole plane to shake and Chester to step back with his eyes wide and his mouth left gaped open.

(A/n): (Y/n) Hunter!

You look back as your eyes return to normal. You look around until your eyes land on the empty spot next to your aunt.

(Y/n): ...What happened?

Without getting an answer, you timidly return to your seat next to your aunt, your eyes still glazed over from the brief but intense burst of aura. The others stare at you in shock, even Eliza looking a bit taken aback by your sudden display.

Eliza clears her throat and speaks first, her voice steady despite the slight tremor in her hands.

Eliza: Well, that was certainly...something. You remind me a lot of your grandfather in more ways than one, it seems.

She chuckles softly, trying to lighten the mood. Samantha reaches out and takes your hand, squeezing it gently in reassurance.

Samantha: (Y/n)...are you alright? I'm sorry about Chester. He doesn't know when to shut up sometimes.

(Y/n): No...I...

You struggle to respond as you hold your head.

Eliza: (Y/n), how about you step outside for a second.

You reluctantly nod before verbally responding.

(Y/n): That would probably be best.

You say as you stand and leave to room with a butler trailing behind you to show you the way out.

As soon as you are out of earshot. You aunt returns her attention to the members of the Jewel family.

(A/n): Didn't actually think we'd get an example without asking first.

She looks at Eliza who has her hand placed on her chest as she breathes softly.

(A/n): Well...?

Eliza's eyes lock onto your aunt as a serious look is adopted in her eyes.

Eliza: The sudden outburst, the look of confusion as is he lost consciousness....the colour change in his eyes as well. It's almost identical to (Gd/n) when he first unlocked his semblance.

(A/n) and Samantha both look at each other with both surprise and concern etched on their faces as they watch you leave the plane from the window.

(A/n): What is it? A sign?

Eliza hums before standing up. She leans on her cane and looks at your aunt with a serious expression.

Eliza: (A/n). When you were introduced into the Hunter family, (Gd/n) and I saw something in you that the others couldn't.

Your aunt looks at the oldest Jewel who slowly moves to a small closet located in the corner of the room.

Eliza opens the door and picks up something. She however almost tumbles over but thankfully Samantha shadowed her as soon as she noticed she had stood up and walked to the closet on her own. She helped carry the case to the middle of the room and placed it on the table.

Eliza: Do you still remember?

Eliza questions. Your aunt's demeanor turns serious as she stands and walks over to the two women of the Jewel family.

(A/n): I do. But you both know that-

Eliza stops her by holding out her hand.

Eliza: I know...however given that case and young (Y/n)'s case. This could be bigger than our families could have imagined.

Samantha helps Eliza sit down and then opens the case. Eliza's eyes shine with a mix of pride and sorrow as she looks at the contents inside.

(A/n): ....How will we know for sure that (Y/n) is the one who can fully reawaken the power his family once held?

Eliza nods slowly.

Eliza: Watch over him. As a protector should. You'll know when to give this to him.

And with that, Eliza closes the case. Eliza pushes the case towards your aunt who takes it and lays it on her lap.

Eliza: We can't reveal anymore to the poor boy for now. Given the current circumstances, he could fully breakdown.

Your aunt's eyes narrow as she looks at Eliza with a sad expression.

(A/n): Even the part where this reawakening could end the curse that has plagued our family?

She then leans in.

(A/n): Or how this whole thing really began..?

Eliza looks towards the window where she sees you pacing as you seemed deep in thought.

Eliza: When he's ready or in need of guidance, then tell him. My instincts tell me that Vex still holds a full house of cards here that could possibly turn into a royal flush...

Meanwhile, you were looking at your hands while trying to draw out the power that's been coming and going when you need it the most. When no gold or purple aura showed itself, you sigh and swing your hands.

(Y/n): Great. Feels like I just became useless again.

Jasper: (Y/n). This is the third time you've done something like this. The first time was back at the forest where you hurt Weiss' wrist, The second time was at the Beacon dance when you were talking to Ruby and Jaune at the punchbowl And just then you had a go at that Chester guy.

Meanwhile, you were looking at your hands while trying to draw out the power that's been coming and going when you need it the most. When no gold or purple aura showed itself, you sigh and swing your hands.

(Y/n): You mean the third time I've lost control of something I don't understand?

Jasper goes silent. You shook your head disapprovingly as you can't help but feel like your getting left in a dark place here. Jasper speaks up again.

Jasper: I don't understand it either. However, I noticed and I'm sure Ike and Star will back up my claim as well. But when you go into that trance-like state. It sounds like several voices calling out to your last name.

Jasper reveals.

(Y/n): That's cryptic and disturbing at the same time.

You walk back to the edge of the school's cliff face and look out towards the city. A sigh escapes your lips as you turn back to face the school and clench your hands in frustration.

Jasper: (Y/n). One thing at a time. You can still move and fight. After what transpired in the city, having those virtues when they've been stripped away from everyone else in the kingdom is nothing short of a miracle.

You ponder his words before he speaks again which clicks something inside your head.

Jasper: You still have friends as well.

You looked back out towards the city as a look of realisation and concern plaster onto your face.

(Y/n): Yang...

You whispered to yourself. You look towards the helipad and pull out your scroll. As you walk towards the helipad while calling for a bullhead, you fail to notice Chester watching from the open door of the plane. The butler comes next to him and addresses him.

Butler: Mr Jewel, will you be stepping out for the day?

Chester looks back in the butler then back at you who's patiently tapping your foot while waiting for the bullhead to arrive.

Chester: Yeah....maybe.
