Next day, Time 7:30

You awaken and see Bianca still asleep on your chest. You chuckle at her sleeping form and move slightly to adjust yourself but this only makes her groan and rub her face into your chest more before her eyes slowly flutter open.

(Y/n): Morning.

She smiles and yawns.

Bianca: Morning...

She swallows hard and smacks her lips together.

Bianca: What time is it?

You check the time on your scroll and lean back.

(Y/n): Seven thirty-one. Ain't got class till nine.

You say before dropping your scroll and close your eyes again.

Bianca snuggles into you again.

Bianca: Thanks for the talk last night. Believe it or not it reallly helped.

You smile and look down at her. Your attention is drawn to what sounds like water dripping into a bowl. You look to your right to see Ike eating cereal slowly while staring at you.

(Y/n): Dude.

Bianca looks at him then quickly sits up straight.

Ike: Aww. You guys looked adorable.

You stand up with Bianca who scratches her head before going to the bathroom.

Ike: Gotta say. Out of all the things I've tried. This cereal is terrible. Pumpkin Pete's I'm pretty sure it's called.

You take the bowl off him and smile at him.

(Y/n): Then stop eating it.

Ike shrugs with the spoon still in his hand.

Ike: But I'm hungry.

He argues. You shook your head as you drop the bowl in the sink and start to clean it.

Ike: So. What's the plan?

(Y/n): I have class.

You check your roster and groan.

(Y/n): Combat class....then history.

You look at Ike.

(Y/n): What about you?

Ike: I might watch your combat class...Then head into the city.

You nod and retrieve your scroll.

(Y/n): Ah shit.

Ike looks at you.

Ike: What?

(Y/n): This is the one class where the second year students collab with us. Team CFVY is gonna have a field day with me.

Ike thinks.

Ike: Surely it's only a one on one if it's a second year versus a first year, yeah?

You nod and Ike comes next to you.

Ike: I mean. You could choose before they get a say.

You look at him like he's mad.

(Y/n): What? Choose a member from team CFVY to fight me? They're power houses. Even Velvet can put up a fight.

Ike looks at your scroll.

Ike: True. But I'm sure you know someone in that team that you might be a match for.

(Y/n): Ike-

Ike covers your mouth and shushes you.

Ike: Remember. There's always an Achilles heel to everything. Think about it.

Ike says as he becomes enveloped in flames and his casual clothing appears on him.

Ike: See you at nine!

He says as he leaves the dorm.

You stare at your scroll then sigh as you take Ike's words to heart and think.

Time 9:40

You take deep breaths as you twist your hands in a circular motion, cracking your wrists then stretching the rest of your arms to let out more cracks. You hold both Vulcan's in your hands. One in its gun mode and one still in its blade mode.

You blink a few times as you stare at your opponent.

Yatsuhashi of Team CFVY. You won't lie. A few months ago you'd be shitting yourself, going up against an opponent like him. Especially with that big ass sword of his. If there's one thing you've learned at Beacon it's that you should never underestimate your opponent. Team CFVY was the embodiment of this saying.

You had ruled out every member of team CFVY. Coco once broke the back of an Ursa Major after it had made a rip in her favourite shirt. So that was a no.

Velvet finally stood up to Cardin this one time and nearly broke his legs. That was a hard no.

Fox, although blind, is very good at Thai boxing. Scarily good. A definite no.

Then comes Yatsu. The sword speaks for itself. You have seen make a giant crater in the ground once at training when he smashed one of the training bots. This wasn't the best option but it was the only logical one seeing as how you knew one of Yatsuhashi's weaknesses.

Miss Goodwitch comes to you and bends down to your level.

Glynda: You don't have to do this (Y/n). You don't have anything to prove.

You look at her and smile.

(Y/n): They would have picked me anyway Miss Goodwitch. If I wanted to fight any one of them. I'd like it to be on my own accord.

She smiles weakly and gives you a pat on the back.

Glynda: Just please don't be afraid to forfeit if things get out of hand.

You nod as she walks out of the arena and watches the both Yatsuhashi and yourself.

Glynda: Begin!

Yatsuhashi rushes you. You aim at him and fire your Vulcan at Yatsuhashi who blocks the shots with his sword by using it as a shield. He swings at you but you jump out of the way and land behind him making him flinch slightly. You spin around and strike his back with your fist, causing him to turn and attack you while you dodge backwards and shoot at him several more times until he backs off.
You quickly recover your position and charge at Yatsuhashi. You kick him in the stomach causing him to fall on the floor.
After catching your breath and steadying yourself, you look at him to check if he's finished. But before you can move towards him, he stands back up and attacks you again. He brings his sword down on you but you just manage to catch it however the force of the swing manages to get you on your knees as it creates a small crater below your feet.

(Y/n): Gonna feel that tomorrow...

You whine as you push the sword to the side and dodge roll away from Yatsuhashi.  You stand up and dust off your pants before standing opposite of him with your fists held close to your chest ready to fight again. Yatsuhashi charges at you and thrusts his sword down at you making you dodge. This continues until he spins his sword around and swings the spine of his sword into your stomach making you stumble backward.
He tries to hit you again but your reflexes keep you back. Yatsu raises the tip of his sword towards you. However, you step back again and use your other foot to trip him up. He lands hard on the ground and rolls to the side, narrowly avoiding your foot as you tried to stomp on him. You jump and swing your fist towards him but he catches your fist with his free hand and twists your arm making you scream in pain.
As you try to regain your posture, Yatsuhashi pushes himself up and kicks you in the ribs which causes you to bend over and cough hard and spit on the ground.

After Yatsuhashi got back up, he raises his sword ready to deliver the finishing blow.

Ike, who was watching from the bleachers, leans forward and narrows his eyes.

Ike: Come on (Y/n). Remember training.

As you were struggling to regain your composure. You remember what the boys tell you.

Flashback~

Ike: Remember (Y/n). When it comes to a battle. There are two factors that you always have to take into account.

Star cuts in and speaks.

Star: First is body. What limitations does your opponent's body have and how can you exploit them?

Your expression goes from focused into a confused one.

(Y/n): How am I supposed to figure that out?

Jasper: If you last long enough. The signs will show.

You nod but still hold slight confusion in the boy's words.

(Y/n): What's factor two?-

Present~

Yatsuhashi's blade was descending towards you but you immediately regained your composure and almost land an uppercut on the boy which causes him to almost drop his sword as he stumbled back.

You slowly lower your balled up fist as a dark purple aura surrounds your body.

(Y/n): Mind...

You murmured.

Yatsuhashi looks confused then shocked as you charged him head on. Yatsu attempts to block your punches but you were relentless. He eventually falls on the ground and groans in pain. Before you could run after him he suddenly throws a punch at you knocking you back. You roll across the dirt and stand up before walking over to him. He raises his sword to hit you but you effortlessly knock the sword out of his hands then kick it at him which he just narrowly dodged. Yatsuhashi tries to throw a punch but you easily dodge it.

(Y/n): Strike one.

Yatsuhashi tries to punch you again but misses again.

(Y/n): Two, Three....wow you suck at hand-to-hand don't you?

He gets angry and goes for another attack but you grab him and lift him off his feet. He tries to punch you in vein but you simply push the punch aside and smile.

(Y/n): You're out.

You say and choke slam the giant of team CVFY into the ground which finally puts his aura in the red. After a few moments he pulls himself up and looks at you. He seems annoyed at first but it melts to surprise when his eyes widen as he realizes who he just lost to.

Yatsuhashi: ...you...actually beat me?

The aura around you disappears as you pant and cross your arms.

(Y/n): I'm not the same guy you picked on Yatsuhashi. I've grown and my victory over you proves it.

He rubs his chin trying to process your words as you put the Vulcan back into it's sheathe and grab the sword before returning it to Yatsuhashi. Yatsuhashi takes it and places it on his back as he stands up. The lights come on as the students attending applaud the match as you and Yatsuhashi leave the arena.

Goodwitch comes to the middle of the arena and looks at the students.

Glenda: Good match, Mister Hunter and Mister Daichi. Miss Adel.

Coco looks up from her scroll and stares at Miss Goodwitch.

Glenda: Prehaps instead of looking for clothing. You should pay attention to your teammates- Mister Light! Put the flask away!

Ike almost spits out his drink and quickly puts the flask away. Bianca, who was next to him, facepalms and shakes her head.

Glynda: Ahem...Should pay attention to Mister Daichi's performance and see what he could improve on. For example, his hand-to-hand capabilities.

Coco puts her scroll away fully and nods.

Coco: Yes Miss.

You approach Ike and Bianca as the two stare at you.

Ike: He's getting better.

Bianca nods in agreement.

Bianca: More determined too. Still, when he uses that aura...it scares me.

Ike looks at her and smiles widely.

Ike: Scared of him or for him?~

Bianca looks at the blonde boy.

Bianca: What do you mean? I'm scared for him. He doesn't know what that power is and he uses it like a child who just found his fathers gun.

Ike's smug smile turns upside down as he watches you walk up the stairs to the bleachers.

Ike: I guess I see what you mean. Still, being able to snap back from that form back to his original form is impressive. Took Star till he was ten to....nervermind.

Ike trails off and looks away awkwardly and takes out his flask for a drink.

You come next to Ike and Bianca and sit down.

Bianca: Well fought (Y/n).

You smile and nod.

(Y/n): Thanks.

Ike: She was really swooning over you during your match.

Ike coyly points out while taking a swig from his flask.

Bianca blushes and almost knocks the flask out of Ike's hand causing him to back off from her and hug his flask.

(Y/n): Is that right?

You tease.

Bianca: U-Umm.....no! Of course not!

She stutters and turns even more pink. You laugh and pat her shoulder.

(Y/n): Don't worry. Just teasing.

You wink and she just playfully punches you.

Glynda: That concludes combat class. Please take notes on what I've said and how the fighters performed.

Everyone begins to leave while you walk with Ike and Bianca.

Yang: (Y/n)!

You look at Yang who approaches you.

(Y/n): Hey.

Yang: Good match. You really kicked Yatsuhashi's ass.

You smile and nod.

(Y/n): Thanks.

Yang smiles and twirls her hair with her index finger.

Yang: So...(Y/n) I was wondering. What are you doing after school?

You think and look at Bianca who walks with Ike out of the classroom.

(Y/n): I....might be going out tonight.

Yang's smile fades.

Yang: Oh...That's okay. Next time then?

You bite your lip and cringe.

(Y/n): Maybe. Sorry Yang.

You quickly leave the class to catch up to Ike and Bianca.

Yang pouts as Weiss comes next to her.

Weiss: Why do you even bother Yang? He's not worth it. Plus he doesn't show any interest.

Yang looks down.

Weiss sighs.

Weiss: Come on let's go.

Weiss drags Yang out of the combat classroom as they head to their next class.
