32. The Casterwills' Triumph

A group of seekers from three units united. They waited for the right moment. Overlos stood facing the King of Nullifiers. All the seekers cast their most powerful spells at the back of the enormous creature. Titans attacked it from the sides, while Quetzalcoatl, Inferno, and other flying titans attacked from above. The Titan King aimed his spear towards the opponent. Several bright projectiles were fired. The Nullifier roared. The titans continued their assault. The seekers once again attacked with long-range spells. A woman from the medical unit appeared before the ranks. "I will use a spell that will weaken the King of Nullifiers. Alustin Nordwill used it in the past" she said.

"You can't be serious right now" Malia addressed her mother.

"The lives of the Nordwills exist so that the Casterwills can continue to live. Isn't that what Erik told you?"

"This is sheer madness. Please don't do this! Every life is equally important! Whatever the Nordwills did for us in the past doesn't matter today!" Sophie interjected.

Klara looked surprised at the girl. She was speechless.

"Mrs Lyssa, please take care of the wounded. We'll defeat the King of Nullifiers. We just need time" Dante reassured her.

Overlos raised its shield. The four elemental Titans positioned themselves in different corners of the Spiral Mark with their companions. The crystal on the Titan King's shield glowed green. At that moment, Geomar attacked along with other gaia-titans. Some of them attacked with stone projectiles, while others used their binding powers on the opponent's legs. Several seekers used Bristlebind to assist them.

Legendary Titans of Water and Wind created two water tornadoes heading towards the enemy. Lok asked Quetzalcoatl for support. Warrior titans also attacked. The King of Nullifiers howled. After a moment, he used a dark stream of mist towards Overlos. The titan absorbed the spell into his spear. After a moment, power appeared on the giant's right side. The Nullifier had no chance to avoid it then he fell. Lok charged his sword with the power of Quetzalcoatl and launched several strikes towards the enemy. Overlos attacked with another series of bright projectiles. The King of Nullifiers howled in pain again. After a moment, the creature's body flashed with bright light, blinding nearby seekers and titans. The creature transformed into a thick sludge. The remaining smaller monsters also dissolved. The sun began to rise. There was no end to the cheers and joyful shouts. At one point, everyone started tossing Lok in the air.

"Once again, we've saved the world. Isn't it amazing?" Cherit exclaimed.

Amidst the excitement, it was only then realized that the Death Spiral members were lying motionless. One of the medics, at Metz's request, checked what was wrong.

"It seems that what Shauna did caused the Spiral Death seekers to be drained of their powers. They may wake up soon" Klara stated.

"That would explain why Zhalia suddenly collapsed" Cathy murmured.

Overlos and the titans stood before the seekers. The owners sent their titans back into the amulets. The Titan King settled in the red crystal of the Staff of Destiny.

Zhalia and Dante found themselves in the defeated Spiral base.

"Are you sure I should do this?" she asked.

"I want to know the truth. And resolve this as siblings" he replied.

Zhalia summoned King Basilisk. He disenchanted his spell which he had used on Arnetta and her minions.

"You missed all the fun. If you want to continue living, go to the surface and surrender voluntarily. Otherwise, I'll petrify you again" Moon threatened.

Fear was visible in the eyes of the Spiral members. Without a word, they went in the direction indicated by the woman.

"Leave us alone" Vale requested. The woman nodded. When the siblings were alone, Dante asked his sister: "Why did you kill our parents and brothers?"

"I don't need a weak family. The Organization and the Death Spiral showed me that I deserve more talented company" she replied.

"Then if I defeat you, I'll take you to prison and you'll never get out. If you win, I'll let you kill me."

Zhalia stood behind the corner. What she heard terrified her. What was her partner up to? She immediately grabbed her phone.

"What's up?" Lok asked. "Sure, I'll tell her" he replied after a moment. "Malia. You have a job to do."

The medic measured Lambert with questioning eyes.

Dante and Arnetta fought without powers and titans. They wanted to settle it with force. Both sides were determined to win this duel. Powerful blows echoed through the cave.

After a few minutes, Malia appeared next to Zhalia, deactivating Camoforge. "I see the fight between them is in full swing" she said softly.

"If you heard the absurd proposal Dante made to her" the woman whispered back.

"It must have been something really stupid if you asked for the support of some medic." Lyssa activated Visiosphere to know when she should intervene.

The siblings' fight had been going on for several minutes. Both sides were feeling tired. However, the determination of both sides remained at the same level.

"You really want to get rid of me, don't you?" Dante said.

"And you want to put me in jail" she retorted. Suddenly, the woman's eyes began to glow red. Arnetta became more agile and cunning than she was a moment ago. She landed a precise blow on Dante. In her hand emanated a navy blue ball of power.

Lyssa used a shield to protect Vale, while Zhalia used Touchram on the woman.

"Is everything alright?" the medic asked.

"You didn't need to save me" Dante replied indifferently.

"I'll deal with you later" Zhalia said.

Lyssa approached the unconscious Arnetta. Something about her behavior worried her. She scanned her body with a blue spell.

"Banebound" Lyssa hit the woman with a spell. The two seekers stood next to the girl with questioning expressions. "Arnetta was under a charm" she explained.

"How? How is that possible?" Dante asked.

"If she belonged to the Organization, it was very possible. Especially if she didn't want to willingly submit to the Professor" Zhalia reminded him.

A few minutes later, Arnetta opened her eyes. She saw her brother first. "Dante" she said with a small smile. Her tone, previously harsh and full of hatred, changed back to what it was before. Warm and gentle. Vale hugged his sister. "It's okay now" he stroked her back.

"I... I didn't consciously kill our parents and the boys. Please forgive me!" she began to cry. "I didn't want to kill you either. I didn't want to kill anyone. I couldn't control myself. I felt like I was being controlled like a puppet all this time."

"It's great that you're confessing, but that won't get away that easily" Zhalia said.

"Arnie, meet Zhalia. She's my girlfriend" he introduced her to his sister.

"Wait. Aren't you Vensetta?"

Moon shook her head.

The seekers flew by plane to the Foundation's International HQ. The researchers remained on the Spiral Mark. Malia was jotting something down in her notebook. Harrison approached her.

"Why did you make me wait?" he asked.

"I didn't know how this fight would turn out. I even considered extreme measures" she replied, avoiding eye contact.

"Extreme measures?" he repeated. She shook her head. She closed the small notebook and tucked it into the back pocket of her jeans. "Never mind. The important thing is that I achieved what I wanted." She stood in front of him. She removed the scrunchie from the end of her braid and let her hair loose.

"I knew you would handle it" he tapped her forehead with his finger.

"If it weren't for training with you all, I don't know if I would have dared. I should thank all of you."

"Gosh. How quickly these kids grow up" Cherit remarked, watching the pair from afar.

"Who was that about?" Sophie asked.

"About us" Lok chimed in and hugged the girl. She just laughed.

Dante and Zhalia were at the controls of the plane.

"I guess we can think about it now. Right?" Vale asked. The woman nodded and intertwined her hands with his. She rested her head on his shoulder. She longed to hug him again. She had waited so long to be with him again and be by his side. The months of separation only intensified the longing of the two lovers.

The longest day of the year arrived. Before sunrise, Lok's team once again stood before the Spiral Mark. They looked down at the symbol from above.

"It feels strange to be here when there's no one from the Spiral around" remarked the Casterwill.

"It's better if we don't have to come back here again" grumbled Den. The Spiral only reminded him of pain, suffering, and rejection. He didn't want to remind himself that Harrison succumbed to it. Nor did he want to think about having to fight against him due to belonging to two different factions.

"Today, we'll end the history of the Death Spiral" said Cherit enthusiastically. The first rays of the sun began to illuminate the area.

"Staffcall" Sophie summoned the artifact. Slowly, she approached the edge of the cliff. She raised the staff upwards. The red gem glowed. The role of the Staff of Destiny was to send the power of Overlos into the center of the symbol.

Lok handed the Willblade to his girlfriend, and she handed him the Staff. Sophie closed her eyes and drove the sword into the ground. Thin, irregular streams of yellowish energy formed, producing an electrifying sound together.

Cathy watched from the side what was happening. The whistling power went straight into the center of the symbol. At first glance, she thought it wasn't doing anything. After a moment, she noticed that the lava was decreasing with each passing second.

When Sophie finished, she was caught by Lok. She had used a lot of power in a short time, which weakened her momentarily.

"Gosh. How was Lord Casterwill able to endure so much?" Malia wondered.

Lyssa transferred a bit of her power to her friend. "Feeling better now?" she looked at her.

"Yes. Thanks" she replied. Sophie took the Staff again in her hands. She drove it into the ground. Initially, the symbol was quickly covered. The longer Sophie did it, the slower it went. Sophie made sounds of desperation. Internally, she motivated herself that she would finish it herself. The stone in the staff began to dim. Lok grabbed the staff with his hand and transferred his power to it. The others watched the pair. "Don't just stand there. Help us" the leader asked.

After a while, the four grabbed the staff. Cherit added power to everyone and then fell from exhaustion. The titan watched his friends. The combination of powers caused the hole to be patched much faster. After a while, it was all over. The friends fell from exhaustion.

"We did it. Together" said Sophie, looking up at the sky. Tears of happiness welled up in the corners of her eyes. The Casterwill had dreamed of the day when the Spiral would disappear from the surface of the Earth. It was a day of triumph for the Casterwill family. Several, if not hundreds of generations of Lord Casterwill had finally defeated the danger.

"Such is the fate of the Spiral and the destiny of the Casterwills" Lok stated.

Lamberts' House, Kerry County, Ireland

Lok's team and Sandra Lambert were sitting in the living room.

"Actually, how did they manage to abduct you?" Cathy asked.

"Two seekers broke into the house and subdued me. What could an older woman do against two young ones? One of them agreed to let me leave you a message and the amulets."

"Zhalia found out they wanted to take you hostage and reveal you on the longest night of the year. Fortunately, something went wrong for them. If it hadn't been for me telling Cathy to leave earlier than we planned, they might have actually pulled it off" Lok said.

"As for Zhalia and Dante, they're getting married soon. Aren't they?" Sophie chimed in.

"After everything they've been through together, they deserve peace and the chance to get their own lives right. You can't be a seeker forever" Sandra replied.

"You seem to know something about it, mom" Cathy said, amused.

"Yes. But Eathon... he hasn't been there for a very long time" she sighed.

Unexpectedly, the door opened. Everyone's gaze turned to the figure standing in the doorway. Mrs. Lambert and her children were stunned. They looked as if they had seen a ghost. "Dad?!" Cathy and Lok exclaimed. Sandra threw herself into her husband's arms. "Where have you been all this time? I was losing my mind" she initially sounded accusing, but then her tone broke. She was just relieved that her beloved husband had returned. "I'm sorry. I promise I'll make it up to you" he replied, placing his hand on her shoulder.

The older Lambert looked towards the young seekers. "You managed to seal the Spiral Mark. By doing so, I've also completed my mission."

"How did you manage to escape from Huntik?" Lok asked.

"I promised that I would return, didn't I? When Overlos left Huntik, I managed to break the spell and escape back to Earth. Usually, in the world of titans, seekers can't use their powers because Overlos keeps everything in check. I found out about it when I landed there."

"So that means the Professor has also returned from Huntik?" Sophie asked.
